Petrol Price Today in Pakistan, 24 September 2026: Down to Rs 390.12
Petrol is Rs 390.12 and diesel Rs 414.75 from 24 September 2026, the second cut in a row. See every price step since 17 September and the 9771 relief.
Petrol costs Rs 390.12 a litre in Pakistan from Thursday, 24 September 2026, down Rs 1.93. High speed diesel is Rs 414.75, down Rs 4.21. It is the second cut in a row for both fuels, and diesel has now fallen on four price dates running.
The Petroleum Division announced the new rates late on Wednesday night, 23 September. They apply for one day under daily pricing, so another revision is due on Thursday night. That is the petrol price today in Pakistan on 24 September 2026.
We checked the Pakistan State Oil price page just after midnight. It still showed the 23 September rates, Rs 392.05 for petrol and Rs 418.96 for diesel. Subtract the two cuts and you land exactly on Rs 390.12 and Rs 414.75.
Petrol is Rs 390.12 and diesel Rs 414.75 today
From 24 September 2026, petrol is Rs 390.12 a litre and high speed diesel is Rs 414.75. Petrol fell Rs 1.93 and diesel Rs 4.21 from the 23 September rates. Dawn, Business Recorder and The Express Tribune all report the same figures from a Petroleum Division press release.

The 23 September column is what PSO's page and the Petroleum Division's own press release show. The 24 September figures are reported, not yet read at source. When we checked just after midnight, the Petroleum Division's site had posted every release up to the one for 23 September, but not the one for 24 September. The newest notification on the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) price page was dated 19 September.
Kerosene and light diesel oil are not priced daily. We opened OGRA's 19 September notification. It sets kerosene at a maximum of Rs 347.32 a litre from 19 September, which matches PSO's page. PSO lists light diesel oil at Rs 304.78. Neither appears in the 24 September release.
Petrol has moved five times since 17 September
Petrol was Rs 391.22 on 17 September. It fell twice, rose Rs 4.61 on 22 September, then fell twice more. Today's Rs 390.12 is Rs 1.10 below the 17 September price and Rs 3.63 below the 22 September high.
We read the Petroleum Division's press releases for 17, 18, 22 and 23 September on its own website. The 19 September step is from Business Recorder, and the 22 September release confirms it by listing 19 September's prices as the existing ones. Every change adds up to the next price, to the paisa.
- 17 September: petrol up Rs 6.88 to Rs 391.22. Diesel up Rs 5.62 to Rs 421.45.
- 18 September: petrol down Rs 0.43 to Rs 390.79. Diesel up Rs 3.47 to Rs 424.92.
- 19 to 21 September: petrol down Rs 1.65 to Rs 389.14. Diesel down Rs 0.88 to Rs 424.04. The Friday price held over the weekend and Monday.
- 22 September: petrol up Rs 4.61 to Rs 393.75. Diesel down Rs 1.96 to Rs 422.08.
- 23 September: petrol down Rs 1.70 to Rs 392.05. Diesel down Rs 3.12 to Rs 418.96.
- 24 September: petrol down Rs 1.93 to Rs 390.12. Diesel down Rs 4.21 to Rs 414.75. Reported by the press.
One report gets a date wrong. The Tribune says the previous cut applied to 22 September. The Petroleum Division's release says it applied to 23 September, and so do Dawn and PSO's page.
The bigger picture has not changed much. Petrol is still Rs 44.25 higher than the Rs 345.87 it cost on 5 September. The eight rises in a row that ended on 17 September are in the 17 September price report.
Diesel has fallen Rs 10.17 in four cuts
Diesel peaked at Rs 424.92 on 18 September. It has fallen on every price date since: 19, 22, 23 and 24 September. The total is Rs 10.17 a litre, about 2.4 per cent. Petrol's net fall over the same days is Rs 0.67.
Diesel matters more than petrol for most prices you pay. It runs trucks, buses, tractors and generators. So a diesel cut reaches goods and fares, while a petrol cut mainly reaches bikes and cars.
Each Petroleum Division release gives the same reason: global events, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals. Platts is the price reporting service whose Arab Gulf quotes Pakistan uses as its benchmark. Under daily pricing, OGRA sets the price from a seven working day average of those quotes. So a fall in world oil prices reaches the pump slowly, a little each day. We explained that lag in why petrol did not fall when oil fell.
Tax is still a large part of the price. Dawn reports that the government takes about Rs 114 a litre on petrol and Rs 100 a litre on diesel in taxes and duties. We did not check that figure against a government document.
A full tank costs Rs 44 less than on 17 September
The savings are small for private drivers. A 10 litre fill costs Rs 3,901.20 today against Rs 3,912.20 on 17 September, Rs 11 less. A 40 litre car tank costs Rs 15,604.80, Rs 44 less. Diesel users save much more.

These are our own sums at the reference price. A pump outside the main depots can charge a little more for freight, as PSO's page notes.
For transport, a truck owner filling 200 litres a day saves Rs 1,340 a day compared with 17 September. That is real money for a haulier. Whether it reaches bus or goods fares is up to transporters and provincial transport authorities. None of the reports we read mentions a fare change.
The 9771 relief brings petrol to Rs 290.12
Bikes, rickshaws and cars up to 800cc still get Rs 100 off each litre on a 9771 token. At today's price that is Rs 290.12 a litre. A bike token covers 5 litres every 7 days. A car token covers 10 litres every 10 days.
We re-read the official portal, pmfuelrelief.pk, on 24 September. It still offers Rs 100 a litre, 5 litres a token for two and three wheelers valid 7 days, and 10 litres a token for cars up to 800cc valid 10 days. The vehicle must be registered on or after 1 January 2006. A car must be in the applicant's own name. The portal gives no end date.
At today's price, a 5 litre bike token costs Rs 1,450.60 instead of Rs 1,950.60. A 10 litre car token costs Rs 2,901.20 instead of Rs 3,901.20.
