You can check a restaurant's Punjab Food Authority (PFA) star rating for free at starrating.pfa.gop.pk, where PFA shows each rated restaurant's stars, its score out of 100 and the date it was rated. On 1 November 2026 the site listed 109 rated restaurants, all in Lahore: 61 with five stars, 30 with four, 10 with three, 7 with two and one with a single star. Below is how to search it, what each star level means, and what the rating does not tell you.

A rating is quicker to read than an inspection report, and it lets you pick a place for a family dinner with some evidence behind the choice. We opened the PFA star rating site and its full listing on 1 November 2026 and counted the results ourselves.

PFA's star rating site lists 109 Lahore restaurants

The PFA star rating site listed 109 rated restaurants on 1 November 2026, every one of them in Lahore. The ratings were given between 13 August and 13 October 2026. No other Punjab city had a rated restaurant on the list yet.

Many entries are branches of the same chain, each rated on its own. So one brand can appear several times with different stars, because each branch kitchen is scored separately.

4 starsExcellent3080 to 89
3 starsVery Good1071 to 79
2 starsGood760 to 69

The score ranges are what we saw in the published list, not a scale PFA prints on the page. They suggest each star covers roughly ten points out of 100.

How to check a restaurant's PFA stars online

Open starrating.pfa.gop.pk on your phone or computer, choose View All, then filter by star level or type the restaurant's name or area into the search box. Each card shows the stars, the score and the rating date.

  1. Go to starrating.pfa.gop.pk and tap View All under Top Rated Restaurants.
  2. Pick All, or a star level from 1 to 5, at the top of the list.
  3. Type the restaurant name or the area, such as DHA or Johar Town, in the search box.
  4. Match the address, because chains have several branches with different ratings.
  5. Read the score out of 100 and the rating date before you decide.

You can switch between a grid and a list view. No sign-in is needed to look at ratings.

Steps to check a restaurant's PFA star rating on starrating.pfa.gop.pk

Five stars means the kitchen scored 90 or more

Every five-star restaurant in the list scored at least 90 out of 100, and four restaurants scored 99 or 100. More than four in five rated restaurants reached five or four stars. Only eight scored below 70.

In numbers: 91 of the 109 restaurants have four or five stars, which is 83 per cent. That is good news for diners, but remember who is in the list. These are mostly large, organised restaurants and chain branches that took part early. A small roadside dhaba is not here at all.

Some restaurants were surveyed twice, the site's data shows, so a rating can be updated. Always check the date. A rating from August says little about a kitchen in December.

The public review form does not save reviews yet

The landing page invites you to rate a restaurant and write a review. But when we read the page on 1 November 2026, the text under the form said backend saving "will be connected in the next phase". So public reviews are not being stored yet.

That matters for how you read the stars. Each listing carries a survey score out of 100, so today's stars come from a scored survey of the restaurant, not from diners. When public reviews go live, check whether the site keeps the two apart.

If you have had a bad meal or found something unsafe, the review form is not the place to report it. Use the Punjab Food Authority complaint line 1223 instead, and keep your bill and photos.

What a star rating does not tell you

A star rating is a snapshot of one survey on one day. It does not replace the PFA licence every food business must hold, and it does not cover the thousands of eateries PFA has not rated. Use it as one signal among several.

Every food business in Punjab needs a licence, which is a separate thing; the fees and grades are in the PFA food licence. A licensed restaurant must also display its category certificate, as explained under reporting unsafe food in Punjab.

If someone does fall ill after eating out, first aid and warning signs are covered in treating food poisoning at home.

Common questions

How do I check a restaurant's PFA star rating?

Open starrating.pfa.gop.pk, choose View All and search by name or area. Each listing shows the stars, a score out of 100 and the date PFA rated it.

Which cities are covered by the PFA star rating?

On 1 November 2026, only Lahore. All 109 rated restaurants on the site were in Lahore, rated between 13 August and 13 October 2026.

What does a five-star PFA rating mean?

PFA labels five stars "Extra Ordinary". Every five-star restaurant in the list scored at least 90 out of 100 in PFA's survey.

Can I give a restaurant stars myself?

There is a review form on the site, but on 1 November 2026 the page said saving would be connected in a later phase. Reviews are not stored yet.

Is the star rating the same as a PFA licence?

No. The licence is compulsory for every food business in Punjab. The star rating is a separate score PFA has given to a small number of restaurants so far.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We opened the PFA star rating site and its full restaurant listing on 1 November 2026 and counted the 109 entries, star levels, scores and rating dates the listing loads. Score ranges per star are our reading of that list; PFA does not publish its scoring sheet on the site. We could not confirm when other Punjab cities will be added.
