The dollar in Pakistan's interbank market closed the week at Rs 276.82 on Friday 23 October 2026, by the State Bank's revaluation rate of Rs 276.8236, almost 3 paisa below Thursday's Rs 276.85. Banks traded it at a weighted average of Rs 276.5052 to buy and Rs 276.9621 to sell. With no interbank trading on Saturday and Sunday, this is the rate that stands until Monday 26 October, the day the State Bank announces its next policy rate decision.

We read the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) home page rate panel and its revaluation sheet for 23 October early on 24 October. The sheet covers about 35 currencies, so the riyal, dirham, pound and euro are below as well.

The dollar rate in Pakistan is Rs 276.82 interbank after Friday's close

Rs 276.8236 is SBP's mark to market revaluation rate for 23 October, the figure banks use to value their dollar holdings. The weighted average rates, Rs 276.5052 bid and Rs 276.9621 offer, show what banks charged each other during Friday's trading.

Weighted average, offerRs 276.9621Rs 277.0018Rs 277.1178

Both the bid and the offer fell about 4 paisa from Thursday. The gap between them stayed near 46 paisa. The 22 October and 12 October columns come from our dollar rate report for 22 October and the earlier reports it links.

SBP interbank revaluation rate for the dollar on 23 October 2026 is Rs 276.82

The rupee gained 15 paisa against the dollar in eleven days

The revaluation rate was Rs 276.9736 on 12 October and Rs 276.8236 on 23 October, a fall of exactly 15 paisa. Since 29 September, when it stood at Rs 277.1214, the rupee has gained about 30 paisa, or roughly 0.11 per cent.

A lower number means each rupee buys slightly more. The steps are tiny, though. For three and a half weeks the rate has stayed between about Rs 276.8 and Rs 277.2. A family converting $1,000 at Friday's rate gets Rs 276,823.60, about Rs 150 less than on 12 October.

The sheet also lists the one year forward rate for the dollar at Rs 289.6372. That is the rate banks use to price a dollar delivered a year from now, not a forecast. Our explainer on SBP's forward dollar rates shows how to read it.

Riyal, dirham, pound and euro rates on SBP's sheet for 23 October

On 23 October SBP's sheet put the Saudi riyal at Rs 73.7459, the UAE dirham at Rs 75.3754, the pound at Rs 370.39 and the euro at Rs 309.78. All four were lower than on 22 October, the euro by the most, about Rs 1.36.

SBP's note on the sheet explains that the dollar rate is a weighted average of closing interbank deals, while the other currencies are worked out from it using their rates against the dollar abroad. So the pound and euro moves on Friday mostly reflect those currencies weakening against the dollar, not a rupee move.

Your bank or exchange counter will quote a different rate

The SBP sheet is the wholesale rate between banks. A bank branch or exchange company sells dollars above it and buys them below it. Before you change money, compare the counter rate with the day's interbank figure and ask for the spread in writing.

Open market rates are set by exchange companies, not by SBP, and we did not read them for 23 October, so we do not quote one here. These steps help you judge any rate you are offered:

  1. Note SBP's revaluation rate for the day, Rs 276.8236 for Friday.
  2. Ask the counter for its buying and selling rate for your currency.
  3. Work out the gap. Rs 1 a dollar on $500 is Rs 500.
  4. Use only an SBP authorised exchange company or a bank, and keep the receipt.

The check of a dollar rate against SBP's sheet works through a real example. Selling to an unlicensed dealer risks fake notes and gives you no receipt if something goes wrong.

Monday's policy decision is the next big date for the rupee

SBP's Monetary Policy Committee announces its decision on Monday 26 October 2026, its calendar shows. The policy rate has been 11.5% since the committee last held it. Interbank trading resumes the same morning.

Money market rates were steady going into the weekend. The one year KIBOR, the rate many loans are priced on, was 12.25% bid and 12.75% offer on 23 October, against 12.76% offer the day before in our KIBOR report for 22 October. The weighted average overnight repo rate was 11.22% on 22 October. SBP's home page also shows its own liquid reserves at $21,488.6 million on 16 October, and the country's total at $26,833 million.
