To judge a quote, follow the steps in checking the dollar rate you are offered. Gulf families can use the guide to a fair dirham and riyal rate, and the size of those flows is in the September remittance report.

SBP rates for the riyal, dirham, euro and pound on 22 October 2026

The policy rate is unchanged at 11.5 percent and the overnight rate is 11.08

SBP's home page still shows a policy rate of 11.50%, a ceiling of 12.50% and a floor of 10.50%. The weighted average overnight repo rate was 11.08% on 21 October. The next Monetary Policy Committee meeting is on 26 October.

The meeting date is on SBP's advance calendar, which we cover in the report on the next policy meeting. Until then, the dollar rate moves on bank flows rather than a rate decision. How SBP's own dollar purchases work is in its interbank intervention explainer.

What to check before you change money this week

A gap of a rupee or two between a dealer's quote and the official rates is normal. A gap of five rupees or more on a dollar deserves a question. Always ask whether the quote is to buy or to sell, because the two differ.

  1. Check the date on any rate you see. Many pages show an old figure under today's date.
  2. Use an exchange company that SBP has authorised, and get a receipt. The steps are in checking an exchange company before you sell dollars.
  3. Compare the quote with SBP's revaluation rate of Rs 276.85.
  4. For card payments abroad, check the card's own conversion charge.

We did not read the open market sheet for 22 October, so this report gives no counter rates. SBP's forward sheet also lists rates for one week to one year, and we have not used them here.
