The dollar rate in Pakistan on Friday 30 October 2026 was Rs 276.75 in the interbank market, the State Bank of Pakistan's (SBP) closing revaluation rate. In the open market, exchange companies bought dollars at Rs 277.47 and sold them at Rs 278.62.

The rupee gained about 7 paisa against the dollar over the week, from Rs 276.82 on 23 October. We read the SBP's rate sheets for every day of the week and the open market closing rates that the SBP publishes for the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP), all on 30 October 2026. Below are the interbank and open market rates for the dollar, euro, pound, riyal and dirham, and what they mean if you are buying or receiving money.

The interbank dollar rate was Rs 276.7522 on 30 October

The SBP's mark-to-market rate for the US dollar was Rs 276.7522 on 30 October 2026, down from Rs 276.7618 on 29 October. Its weighted average interbank rate was Rs 276.4421 to buy and Rs 276.899 to sell. Banks use these rates for their books and as the base for customer rates.

Open market dollar rate: Rs 277.47 buying, Rs 278.62 selling

The open market closing rate on 30 October 2026 was Rs 277.47 when exchange companies buy dollars from you and Rs 278.62 when they sell to you, according to ECAP's figures on the SBP website. A week earlier, on 23 October, they were Rs 277.57 and Rs 278.71.

British poundRs 371.19Rs 371.48Rs 374.62
UAE dirhamRs 75.35Rs 75.61Rs 76.17
Saudi riyalRs 73.75Rs 73.97Rs 74.48

The SBP says it publishes the open market rates "for information only". They are closing rates. The rate at a counter during the day can differ, and a shop can charge more than the average. Before you sell dollars, it is worth checking the shop against these figures with our dollar rate check method.

The gap between open market and interbank is about Rs 1.87

On 30 October, the open market selling rate of Rs 278.62 was Rs 1.87 above the interbank rate of Rs 276.75. The buying rate was 72 paisa above it. So a person buying dollars for travel pays more than a bank's books show, and a person selling dollars gets a little more than the interbank rate.

A small worked example helps. If you sell $500 to an exchange company at the closing buying rate, you get Rs 138,735. If you buy $500 at the selling rate, you pay Rs 139,310. The Rs 575 difference is the spread the exchange company keeps.

Money sent from abroad through a bank converts at the bank's own rate, which sits close to the interbank figure, not the open market one. The bank's rate can also include its own margin, so ask before you accept it.

Riyal, dirham, pound and euro rates on 30 October 2026

The SBP's interbank rates on 30 October 2026 were Rs 73.7455 for the Saudi riyal, Rs 75.3467 for the UAE dirham, Rs 371.1939 for the British pound and Rs 309.7965 for the euro. The pound and euro rose against the rupee this week, while the riyal and dirham barely moved.

The riyal and dirham track the dollar because both Gulf currencies are tied to it. The pound and euro move with their own markets abroad, which is why they can rise while the dollar slips.

How to check the dollar rate on the SBP website

The SBP posts the interbank revaluation rate every working day, usually by the afternoon, and the ECAP open market closing rates in the evening. Both are free PDF sheets. These steps take about two minutes.

  1. Open the SBP home page and read "M2M Revaluation Rate" and "Weighted Average Rate" in the rates box.
  2. For other currencies, open Economic Data, then the financial market data page.
  3. Open "Exchange Rates for Mark to Market Revaluation" for the day's sheet.
  4. For the open market, open "Open Market Closing Exchange Rates" on the same page.
  5. Compare the selling rate with what the exchange company quotes you.
