SBP dollar rate in Pakistan from 30 September to 23 October 2026

The rupee gained 29 paisa against the dollar in October

From Rs 277.1144 on 30 September to Rs 276.8236 on 23 October, the dollar lost 29.08 paisa, or about 0.1 per cent. That is about 1.7 paisa a working day. It is a slow, steady move, not a jump, and it has run in one direction all month.

For a family receiving money, the effect is small but real. A $1,000 transfer converted at the 23 October rate is worth Rs 276,823.60, which is Rs 290.80 less than at the end of September. A $500 transfer is worth Rs 145.40 less. Over a year of monthly transfers, that adds up, so it is worth knowing which way the rate is moving.

Banks and exchange companies quote a buying and a selling rate

The revaluation rate is a reference, not the price at a counter. On 23 October the State Bank's weighted average interbank rate was Rs 276.5052 to buy and Rs 276.9621 to sell. A bank or exchange company adds its own margin on top of that, so your rate will be a little worse.

The gap between buying and selling at the interbank level was about 46 paisa that day. At a counter it is usually wider. To check whether a quote is fair, compare it with the State Bank's figure for the same day, as set out in checking the dollar rate you are offered. If you hold dollars, an account in dollars at a Pakistani bank lets you decide when to convert instead of accepting the rate on the day.

How to read the State Bank's daily rate yourself

The State Bank posts the rate twice: a figure on its home page, and a PDF sheet for each working day that also lists more than 30 other currencies. You can read the same numbers we used in under a minute.

  1. Open the State Bank of Pakistan home page.
  2. Find the panel headed USD/PKR rates and note the date shown.
  3. Read the M2M revaluation rate and the weighted average buy and sell rates.
  4. For other currencies, open the day's revaluation sheet and read the READY column.
  5. Compare the figure with the rate your bank or exchange company quotes.

The sheet's own note explains the method. The dollar figure is a weighted average of closing interbank rates collected from brokerage houses, and other currencies are worked out from it using their world rates against the dollar. That is why a riyal or dirham rate moves with the dollar rate.

The rate decision on 26 October is the next date to watch

The State Bank's Monetary Policy Committee is scheduled to announce its decision on Monday 26 October 2026, with a press conference the same day and an analyst briefing on 27 October. The policy rate stood at 11.50 per cent on the State Bank's home page on 25 October.

We will not guess the outcome. What the meeting decides, and what a hold or a cut would mean for loans and savings, is set out in SBP's next monetary policy meeting. The weekly reserve figures, the other number traders watch, are in SBP reserves for 16 October. The latest single day, with open market context, is on the dollar rate for 23 October.

We read the State Bank of Pakistan's mark to market revaluation sheets for 30 September and for 1 to 23 October 2026 (every working day except 21 October), its home page panel showing the 23 October rates and the 11.50 per cent policy rate, and its monetary policy calendar, all on 25 October 2026.
