Dollar Rate in Pakistan Today: Rs 277.06 Interbank, Rs 278.93 in the Open Market
Dollar rate in Pakistan on 5 October 2026: Rs 277.06 interbank and Rs 278.93 open market selling, read on SBP and ECAP sheets. See riyal and dirham rates too.

The dollar in Pakistan's interbank market closed at Rs 277.06 on Monday 5 October 2026, by the State Bank's revaluation rate. The open market closed at Rs 277.74 to buy and Rs 278.93 to sell, by the exchange companies' own closing rates. Both figures are the newest published, and both show the rupee a little stronger than on Friday.
Monday was the first trading day after the weekend. The rupee gained less than one paisa against the dollar in the interbank market, and about 8 to 13 paisa in the open market. That is a quiet day, not a turn in the trend.
We read both figures on sbp.org.pk on the morning of 6 October. The State Bank publishes its own interbank figures and also posts the open market closing rates that the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP) sends it each day. Tuesday's rates will not appear until after Tuesday's close.
The dollar rate in Pakistan today is Rs 277.06 interbank and Rs 278.93 open market
Rs 277.06 is the State Bank's mark to market revaluation rate for 5 October 2026, the rate banks use to value their dollar books. The open market selling rate of Rs 278.93 is what an exchange company charged a customer buying dollars at Monday's close.

| Rate | 5 October 2026 | 2 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Interbank weighted average, bid | Rs 276.78 | Rs 276.79 |
| Interbank weighted average, offer | Rs 277.21 | Rs 277.21 |
| SBP revaluation rate | Rs 277.0631 | Rs 277.0714 |
| Open market, buying | Rs 277.74 | Rs 277.87 |
| Open market, selling | Rs 278.93 | Rs 279.01 |
The gap between the two systems on Monday was about Rs 1.87 a dollar, from the revaluation rate to the open market selling rate. That gap is normal. A counter dealer handles cash in small amounts and prices that in.
The rupee gained a few paisa on Monday
The revaluation rate fell from Rs 277.0714 on Friday to Rs 277.0631 on Monday. That means one dollar bought 0.83 paisa fewer rupees. In the open market, the selling rate fell 8 paisa and the buying rate fell 13 paisa.
- Monday 29 September: revaluation rate Rs 277.1214.
- Friday 2 October: Rs 277.0714, five paisa lower over the week.
- Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October: no interbank trading.
- Monday 5 October: Rs 277.0631, less than a paisa lower again.
- Open market selling: Rs 279.09 on 1 October, Rs 279.01 on 2 October and Rs 278.93 on 5 October.
So over one week the rupee gained about 5.8 paisa in the interbank market. For a family receiving Rs 100,000 worth of dollars, that is a difference of about Rs 21. Small moves like this are why the rate feels stuck near Rs 277.

Interbank and open market rates are used for different things
The interbank rate is the price at which banks trade dollars with each other. Import and export invoices are priced off it. The open market rate is the price at a currency counter, and it is the one that matters if you need cash dollars for travel.

If you are buying cash, the daily and per visit rules on the open market dollar limit apply on top of the rate. An authorised dealer must see your original CNIC for any sale. Anyone quoting you a rate outside that system is not a licensed dealer.
Riyal and dirham rates for remittance families
Saudi Arabia and the UAE are the two biggest sources of money sent home to Pakistan. The open market closed the Saudi riyal at Rs 73.92 to buy and Rs 74.46 to sell on 5 October. The UAE dirham closed at Rs 75.61 to buy and Rs 76.23 to sell.
| Currency | Open market buying | Open market selling | SBP revaluation rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| US dollar | Rs 277.74 | Rs 278.93 | Rs 277.06 |
| Saudi riyal | Rs 73.92 | Rs 74.46 | Rs 73.80 |
| UAE dirham | Rs 75.61 | Rs 76.23 | Rs 75.44 |
| British pound | Rs 366.54 | Rs 370.27 | Rs 366.57 |
| Euro | Rs 310.27 | Rs 313.87 | Rs 310.73 |
The buying column is what a dealer pays you when you sell foreign currency. So if a relative hands you 1,000 riyals in cash, expect about Rs 73,920 at Monday's close, less any dealer margin. Money sent through a bank or a licensed app is converted at that provider's own rate, which usually sits near these figures. The August remittance figures show how much of the inflow comes from these two countries.

What to check before you change money today
Compare any quote against the figures above. A gap of a rupee or two from the open market rate is normal. A gap of five rupees or more on a dollar is worth questioning, or walking away from.
- Check the date on any rate you see. Many sites show Friday's figure under Monday's date.
- Ask whether the quote is to buy or to sell. The two differ by more than a rupee.
- Use a licensed exchange company and get a receipt.
- For a card payment abroad, check the card's own conversion markup as well as the rate.
A card can cost more than the rate suggests. The markup on virtual dollar cards is often bigger than a day's move in the rupee. The State Bank's reserves have held above 21 billion dollars in its recent reports, which is one reason the rate has barely moved, as our 4 October dollar report also found.
