Short answer: PMD's forecast issued at 10:30 am on 14 October 2026 gives Islamabad a 40% chance of rain, wind and thunderstorm on Wednesday evening or night. Parts of Lahore and the upper Punjab districts may see isolated storms too. Thursday is mostly dry, and PMD's weekly outlook shows mainly dry weather from Friday 16 October to Monday 19 October.

The storms are the tail of a weather system that has been crossing the north since the weekend. We read PMD's daily forecast, its weekly outlook and its tourist forecast on 14 October 2026. Everything below comes from those pages on weather.gov.pk.

Wednesday evening brings isolated storms to Islamabad and upper Punjab

PMD says dry weather is expected in Islamabad on Wednesday, but partly cloudy weather with rain, wind and thunderstorm is likely in the evening or night, with a 40% chance. For Punjab, it names isolated storms in a long list of upper and central districts.

PMD forecast for Islamabad and Punjab from Wednesday 14 October to Friday 16 October 2026

The Punjab list for Wednesday includes Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Kasur. PMD also expects storms in Bahawalnagar, Layyah, Bhakkar and Multan in the afternoon. Isolated hailstorms are possible.

"Isolated" matters. It means a few places get rain while the next street stays dry. Do not read this as a forecast of a washout in your city.

PMD's 9 October press release warned that wind, hail and lightning can damage weak structures such as kacha roofs and walls, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels. It also said hail can hurt standing crops in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Secure your solar panels and roof before a windstorm if your district is on the list.

Thursday is mostly dry, with a few northern districts at risk

For Thursday 15 October, PMD expects dry weather in most of Punjab and cloudy skies. Isolated storms remain possible in Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin. Islamabad is forecast dry. Dry weather is expected in most other parts of the country.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Wednesday is cloudy with isolated storms across many districts, including Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and D.I. Khan. PMD says isolated heavy rain and hail are also expected in the upper districts. On Thursday the storms narrow to Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla and Battagram.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan stay cloudy, with isolated storms both days. Sindh and Balochistan stay mainly dry.

Day temperatures stay in the early thirties in Lahore

PMD forecasts 30 to 32 degrees Celsius in Lahore on each of the next three days. Islamabad is cooler at 22 to 24 on Wednesday and Thursday, then 25 to 27 on Friday. Karachi is forecast at 34 to 36 degrees all three days.

In Punjab the figures were small. Murree had 3 mm and Islamabad and Attock about 1 mm. PMD also reported that Mithi reached 41 degrees and Dadu 40 degrees, the highest maximum temperatures it listed for the previous day.

Earlier spells this week gave far more rain in some places. The PMD forecast for the nights of 12 and 13 October listed 43 mm at Mandi Bahauddin.

Dry weather is forecast from Friday to Monday

PMD's weekly outlook shows mainly dry weather in most of the country from Friday 16 October to Monday 19 October, with partly cloudy skies over the northern hills. It adds isolated storms in Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday 17 October.
