At Punjab University (PU), every BS student pays Rs 14,250 in service charges, exam fee and sports and mosque fund in Fall 2026, and Rs 13,300 in Spring 2027, on top of the programme fee. New students also pay Rs 500, Rs 5,000 refundable and Rs 9,000 registration at admission.

A PU fee challan has several lines, and the programme fee is only one of them. We read the university's Dues and Fee Schedule for 2026-27 on 21 October 2026 and added up the fixed charges that every student pays. Those are the same for any BS programme, whether regular or self-supporting. Your own programme fee comes on top, and you must read that from the official file for your department.

Every BS student pays Rs 14,250 in Fall and Rs 13,300 in Spring on top of the programme fee

The schedule lists service charges of Rs 8,500 a semester, an examination fee of Rs 4,800, and a sports and mosque fund of Rs 950 in Fall only. That makes Rs 14,250 in Fall and Rs 13,300 in Spring. The totals are our addition of the listed lines.

Some departments pay a higher exam fee every semester instead of Rs 4,800. The schedule lists Rs 5,475 for Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Taxation and E-Commerce, Rs 5,500 for Food Science, Rs 6,000 for the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and Physics, and Rs 9,487 for the Faculty of Engineering. For the self-supporting BS, Chemistry is Rs 5,900 and Agriculture Rs 7,590.

New students pay Rs 500, Rs 5,000 refundable and Rs 9,000 at admission

At admission the schedule lists a PU Development Fund of Rs 500, a Library Security of Rs 5,000 that is refundable, and a registration fee of Rs 9,000 for students not already registered. LLB students also pay Rs 3,000 to the Pakistan Bar Council.

Other charges apply only where relevant: Rs 2,500 a semester for mandatory field work, Rs 2,000 a semester for accreditation, and Rs 3,500 in the Spring semester for air conditioning where classrooms have it. Foreign students and overseas Pakistani reserved seats pay US$500 a semester in addition to regular fees.

If you are still working out whether you can enter, the PU BS admission eligibility rules come first.

MS and MPhil students pay Rs 16,050 in the first semester on top of the programme fee

For MS and MPhil, regular and self-supporting, the fixed lines come to Rs 16,050 in semester 1, Rs 15,100 in semester 2, Rs 24,450 in semester 3 and Rs 23,500 in semester 4. The jump in semesters 3 and 4 is the Rs 15,000 exam and thesis charge.

Food Science and DCMR pay Rs 7,500 for the semester 1 and 2 exam fee instead of Rs 6,600, and LLM pays Rs 11,055.

Self-supporting PhD students pay a Rs 27,500 thesis charge each semester

The schedule lists self-supporting PhD fixed charges of Rs 43,550 in semester 1 and Rs 42,600 in semester 2. From semester 3 they are Rs 36,950 in odd semesters and Rs 36,000 in even ones. The Rs 27,500 thesis evaluation charge sits in every semester.

Eight times Rs 27,500 is Rs 220,000, which matches the total thesis evaluation charge in the schedule. It says the full amount is payable when you submit the thesis, and that thesis charges you have already paid by semester are deducted from it.

Some programme fees are labelled clearly, others are hard to read in the PDF

The schedule calls the main programme fee the "A" fee. For 2026 admissions, Arabic, Kashmir Studies, Persian, Punjabi and Urdu show Rs 15,750, and LLB and Pharm-D in the regular BS show Rs 55,000. Pharm-D in the self-supporting BS shows Rs 132,500.

Most other rows show two figures for different admission years, and the PDF layout is jumbled. We have not mapped them to departments. Read your own row in the official file or ask your department before you pay.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 21 October 2026. Every amount comes from the Dues and Fee Schedule for 2026-27 linked on the PU fee page, which we read on 21 October 2026. Semester totals are our addition. The PDF is poorly laid out, so we left out unlabelled programme fee rows. We did not make a payment or see a live challan, and PU can revise the schedule.
