To get a University of the Punjab degree, duplicate degree or Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC), download one "Application Form for Certificates" from pu.edu.pk, pay the fee at an HBL or UBL branch, and send the attested form to the Deputy Controller Certificates in Lahore. The current fee schedule lists Rs 6,000 for a degree of any type. An original degree takes about 2 months.

One thing surprises most graduates. The process is not fully online. You fill the form on paper, and the university posts the degree back to you by courier or registered post. Only overseas applicants can do it by email.

Punjab University processing times: original degree 2 months, duplicate 1 month, DMC 1 month, verification 15 days

Punjab University issues degrees and DMCs on one paper form

Punjab University uses a single four page form for the original degree, a duplicate degree, a DMC, a verification certificate and a merit certificate. You tick one option only. A second document needs a second form and a second fee.

We read the form, the fee schedule and the instructions on pu.edu.pk on 1 October 2026. The form is on the university's degree and verification form page. It carries a printed price of Rs 30, and the current fee schedule lists Rs 35 for all forms. Downloading it from the website costs nothing.

A DMC is the subject by subject marks sheet. The university calls it the Detailed Marks Certificate.

Semester students get their transcript from their department

The examinations department issues DMCs only for the annual system, such as BA, BSc, BCom and associate degrees. If you studied in the semester system, ask your own academic department for the transcript. The form's instructions say this directly.

So a BS student who wants a transcript should go to the department first, not the Admin Block. The degree is different. The form has boxes for both annual and semester roll numbers, so semester graduates use it for the degree itself.

The documents you must attach

Attach photocopies of every result card and earlier certificate, your CNIC copy, a passport size photo and your thumb impression. Get the form attested by the right person. An incomplete form is returned to you, so check the list twice before you post it.

  • Result cards of all parts for the annual system, or the transcript for the semester system.
  • Earlier certificates and degrees, from matric onward.
  • Your CNIC copy. A woman whose name changed after marriage also attaches her father's CNIC copy.
  • A passport size photo pasted on the form, and your thumb impression.
  • A list of all subjects, if you are applying for a DMC.
  • The previous original degree, if you are applying for an improved division degree.
  • An affidavit on Rs 20 stamp paper, attested by an Oath Commissioner and giving the reason, for a duplicate degree.

Attestation depends on how you studied. Regular students get it from the principal of their college or the head of their university department. Private, external and late college candidates need two class-I gazetted officers. Graduates of a college that has since lost affiliation also need two gazetted officers. A verification form needs no attestation at all.

How to apply for your Punjab University degree, step by step

Download the form, deposit the fee at an online HBL or UBL branch, paste the original challan receipt on the form, get it attested and send it to the Deputy Controller Certificates. Expect the degree by post. Nobody can collect it for you without your written authority.

  1. Wait 60 days after your result. The form says no degree or verification is issued within 60 days of the result. Applying sooner needs permission from the Controller's office.
  2. Download the form from pu.edu.pk and tick one option only.
  3. Pay the fee. Use any online branch of Habib Bank or United Bank. Cheques, bank drafts, money orders and postal orders are refused. The university also links an online challan form where you choose "Degree / Verification" and type the amount.
  4. Paste the original challan on page 4, the fee receipt page.
  5. Get the form attested by the principal, head of department or two gazetted officers, as above.
  6. Post or deliver it to the Deputy Controller Certificates, Department of Examinations, Admin Block, Quaid-e-Azam Campus, University of the Punjab, Lahore 54590.

Graduates in other cities can post the form. The phone number printed on it is UAN 042-111-00-1882.

Fees: the current schedule says Rs 6,000 for a degree

The fee schedule approved by the Syndicate on 9 July 2026 lists Rs 6,000 for a degree of any type and Rs 2,520 for verification. An original degree is free if you apply more than one year after your result. Overseas applicants pay US$35 a document.

DocumentFee on pu.edu.pkUsual time after the form arrives
Original degreeRs 6,000, free after 1 yearAbout 2 months
Duplicate degreeRs 6,000About 1 month
DMC (annual system)No separate line, see belowAbout 1 month
Verification certificateRs 2,520About 15 days
Any document, from abroadUS$35 eachNot stated

The sources disagree, and you should know that before you go to the bank. The fee schedule dated 28 August 2026 lists "Degree Fee (all type)" at Rs 6,000. An older procedure letter that is still on the same website gives Rs 2,720 for a degree, a duplicate or a DMC, and Rs 1,750 for verification. The schedule is newer and signed by the Treasurer, so we have used it. The form itself warns that fees can change when the Accounts Branch notifies it.

The 2026 schedule has no separate line for a DMC. The older procedure letter charged the degree fee for a DMC, and it says each part of a degree needs its own form and its own fee. Ask the Certificates office before you pay for more than one part.

Punjab University degree and verification fees from the 2026 fee schedule

Punjab University lists no urgent degree service

We found no urgent or fast track fee for a degree or DMC anywhere on pu.edu.pk. The only urgent option in the fee schedule is for a migration or NOC certificate, at double the fee. Plan for the normal times above.

The university calls these times "tentative". Anyone offering to get your degree in a week for an extra payment is not offering a university service. Pay only through the bank challan, and keep the receipt.

Applying from abroad, and what comes after the degree

An overseas graduate gets the form attested by the Pakistani embassy or consulate, pays US$35 by bank transfer, and can send scanned copies by email to the Deputy Controller Certificates. After that, most people need the degree attested for use abroad.

The university's procedure letter gives the email address dcc.exams@pu.edu.pk and the HBL New Campus branch account for foreign fee payments. Once the degree is in your hands, the usual next step is HEC degree attestation, and many countries then want an apostille from the Foreign Office on top.

Rs 6,000 for a degree of any type, under the fee schedule dated 28 August 2026. An original degree is free after one year from the result.

How long does a duplicate degree take?

From your own academic department. The examinations department issues DMCs for the annual system only.

Can someone else collect my degree?

Can I apply right after my result?

No. The form says no degree is issued within 60 days of the result, unless the Controller's office gives permission.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 1 October 2026 PKT. We read the University of the Punjab's degree and verification form page, the four page Application Form for Certificates, the examination fee schedule approved by the Syndicate on 9 July 2026 and dated 28 August 2026, and the Deputy Controller Certificates' procedure letters, all on pu.edu.pk. We opened the university's online challan form. The older Rs 2,720 degree fee in the procedure letter conflicts with the newer Rs 6,000 schedule; we use the newer figure. Processing times are the university's tentative estimates, not guarantees.
