None of these trains starts in Rawalpindi. They come from Karachi or Quetta, so a delay further south arrives with them. Plan with a margin, especially when fog sits over Punjab in winter.

Peshawar City or Peshawar Cantt: which station to use
Every train stops at both. Peshawar City comes first, 8 to 20 minutes before Peshawar Cantt on the way in. Pick the one closer to where you are going and book your ticket to that station, so the seat is held for the stretch you actually travel.
Once you arrive, the Zu bus network covers much of the city, and the routes and first and last buses are listed in the Peshawar BRT routes and timings.

Last checked 2 November 2026, about 22:45 PKT. We read the full timetables of 1UP and 2DN Khyber Mail, 13UP and 14DN Awam Express, and 39UP and 40DN Jaffar Express on the Pakistan Railways booking system at pakrailways.gov.pk, for travel on 5 November 2026. Booking and half fare rules come from the Pakistan Railways FAQ and terms, and the reservation office list from its general information page, all read the same night.
