How to Recover a Hacked YouTube Channel in Pakistan
Recover a hacked YouTube channel in Pakistan: get the Google Account back, undo changes in the Studio cleanup tool, then lock it. Official steps, checked today.

To recover a hacked YouTube channel in Pakistan, first take back the Google Account behind it at accounts.google.com/signin/recovery. Then undo the hacker's changes with the cleanup tool in YouTube Studio, and lock the account with a passkey. YouTube says its help covers hacks from the past 9 months only, so start today.
The usual story in Pakistan starts with an email about a brand deal. A file arrives, the creator opens it, and by evening the channel has a new name, a crypto livestream and videos set to private. We read YouTube's and Google's own help pages on 1 October 2026, and the steps below follow them in order.

A hacked YouTube channel means a hacked Google Account
Every YouTube channel is tied to at least one Google Account. YouTube says that when a channel is hacked, at least one of those accounts is compromised. So the recovery always starts with Google, not with YouTube.
YouTube lists the signs. Your profile picture, description, email settings or AdSense link changed without you. Videos you never made appeared, and you may get emails about strikes against them. Your own videos may also vanish, because hackers often switch them to private.
Recover the Google Account first
If you can still sign in, change the password and run Google's Security Checkup. If you cannot sign in, go to Google's account recovery page, answer every question as well as you can, and set a new password you have never used before.
- Use a phone or laptop you have signed in on before, from your usual city and Wi-Fi. Google gives more weight to a familiar device and place.
- Open the Google account recovery page and enter the channel's Gmail address.
- Answer every question. If you do not know an answer, give your best guess rather than skipping it. Wrong guesses do not lock you out.
- Set a new, strong password that you have not used on this account before.
- Ask every manager or owner of the channel to do the same on their own Google Account. One weak manager account is enough to lose the channel again.
If recovery fails, the full set of tips is in our walk-through on recovering a Gmail or Google account in Pakistan. Google says you cannot call it for help signing in, so ignore any "Google helpline" number you find in a comment or a group.
Undo the hacker's changes in YouTube Studio
Once you are back in, open the cleanup tool in YouTube Studio. It lists unusual activity, asks which changes you made, and reverses the rest. YouTube says changes are made within a few hours, and an email gives you a link to track the request.
The cleanup tool shows a Start review notice only when YouTube has detected unusual activity, and only owners and managers can use it. The flow is short: tick the changes you made yourself, review YouTube's plan under "How we'll fix this", check who has access, then submit. You can edit the review until the date in the email, usually 30 days later. Changes you mark as unauthorised cannot be undone.
If the tool does not appear, clean up by hand. This table follows YouTube's own checklist.
| What the hacker changed | What YouTube says to do |
|---|---|
| Uploaded videos with no strikes or claims | Delete them |
| Uploaded videos with a strike or copyright claim | Contact YouTube to start an investigation |
| Added unknown people to the channel | Remove their access in channel permissions or the Brand Account |
| Changed the name, handle, picture or banner | Restore them quickly, to avoid suspension for trademark infringement |
| Hid your videos | Check each video's privacy setting |
| Changed AdSense or Content Manager settings | Check them and set them back |
Also look at the latest comments made by your channel, your playlists, custom thumbnails and subscriptions. Hackers use all of them to push scam links to your audience.

Appeal a terminated channel after you recover the account
If YouTube terminated your channel because of what the hacker posted, recover the Google Account first. YouTube then sends an email with appeal details, and it offers an appeal form. An appeal may be refused if the account recovery is incomplete.
Creators in the YouTube Partner Program, the scheme that lets a channel earn from ads, can contact the YouTube Creator Support team once the Google Account is back. If that route is not open to you, YouTube points creators to @TeamYouTube on X. Its help page also offers a hacked channel chat assistant, in English, Spanish and Portuguese only.
The time limit is the part to take seriously. YouTube says support is limited to hacks that happened within the past 9 months, because of Google's data retention policy. After that, it may not be able to recover the channel at all. A creator whose YouTube income in Pakistan pays the bills cannot afford to wait and see.

Lock the channel so it does not happen again
YouTube gives three steps: scan your devices for malware, use a passkey for 2-Step Verification, and add a recovery phone and email. It also says every person with access should use their own account through channel permissions, never a shared password.
- Malware: YouTube says it often arrives as a password-protected zip file holding a file ending in .scr or .exe. Turn on Enhanced Safe Browsing in Chrome and use antivirus software.
- Passkey and 2-Step Verification: a passkey signs you in with your fingerprint, face or screen lock and cannot be typed into a fake page. SMS codes are weaker, because a SIM can be swapped.
- Recovery options: add a phone number and an email address you control, so Google can reach you if someone signs in.
- Permissions: give editors and managers their own access level. Remove anyone who has left the team.
If a hacker took over your SIM to get codes, the mobile network has to fix that first. A blocked or swapped SIM in Pakistan is replaced at an operator franchise with your CNIC and biometrics.

Report the hacker in Pakistan if there is blackmail or money
A hacker who demands money to return the channel is committing a crime under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. Do not pay. Keep the emails and screenshots, and report it to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Section 14 of the Act makes electronic fraud punishable with up to two years in prison, a fine of up to Rs 10 million, or both. We read the Act on the Pakistan Code website. The steps for filing are in our page on how to report a cybercrime in Pakistan. The NCCIA complaint site blocked our automated check on 1 October 2026, which does not mean it is down, so open it in a normal browser.
Common questions
Can I recover a hacked YouTube channel without the email password?
Yes. Use Google's account recovery page and answer its questions. You do not need the old password, but a familiar device, location and recovery phone or email make success far more likely.
How long does YouTube take to fix a hacked channel?
YouTube says the cleanup tool makes your requested changes within a few hours of submitting. Recovering the Google Account first can take longer, depending on how much proof you can give.
Is there a YouTube helpline number in Pakistan?
No. Google says you cannot call it for help signing in. Eligible creators can contact Creator Support from inside YouTube Studio, and others can use the help centre or @TeamYouTube on X.
Will I get a strike for videos the hacker uploaded?
You might. Delete hacker videos with no strikes. If a strike or copyright claim is already on one, contact YouTube to start an investigation rather than deleting it.
My channel was hacked a year ago. Can I still get it back?
Possibly not. YouTube says its support covers hacks within the past 9 months, and it may not be able to recover a channel hacked earlier.
Someone is demanding money to return my channel. Should I pay?
No. Keep the messages as evidence, report it to NCCIA, and recover the account through Google. Paying does not guarantee you get anything back.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 1 October 2026. We read YouTube Help's pages on recovering a hacked channel, cleaning up a hacked channel and securing a channel, and Google Account Help on account recovery and 2-Step Verification, all on support.google.com. We read sections 14 and 29 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, as amended, on pakistancode.gov.pk. We did not recover a hacked channel ourselves, so the timings are YouTube's own. The NCCIA helpline number is reported and is not given here because we could not read it on an NCCIA page.
