Short answer: To register a divorce in Islamabad, appear in person before the Arbitration Council at the Agriculture Complex, G-11/4, with the original and a copy of the divorce paper and CNIC copies of both parties and both fathers. The ICT Administration lists a fee of Rs 250.

A divorce on paper is not the end of the paperwork. A woman in Islamabad wants her CNIC to show the right marital status, and a new employer asks for the registered record. The divorce paper alone is not enough for that. The registration is.

We read the ICT Administration's divorce registration page on 13 October 2026. The documents, address, timings and fee below come from that page. It covers the capital territory only. Pakistan's provinces run their own offices.

Registration happens before the Arbitration Council

You register a divorce by appearing in person before the Arbitration Council. The office checks the record, enters the data, proofreads it and prints the final copy. The Chairman of the Arbitration Council signs it. The dealing authority listed is Local Government.

The divorce paper is the document issued after the divorce. The registration turns it into an official record. For a related step, the guide to getting a copy of a Nikah Nama explains how to find the marriage record first. The page does not name a law, so we do not cite one.

Bring four documents in one file cover

You need the original divorce paper, one copy of it, CNIC copies of both parties and CNIC copies of both fathers. The ICT page asks that all documents are put in a file cover. Download the divorce form from the page before you go.

  1. Original divorce paper.
  2. One copy of the divorce paper.
  3. CNIC copy of each of the two parties.
  4. CNIC copy of the father of each party.

The ICT page links a PDF named the Divorce Form. Fill it in at home to save time at the counter. If you cannot find the form, ask the clerk for it on arrival.

Follow seven steps at the office

The steps run in a fixed order. You appear in person, the staff check the record, enter the data, proofread and check the proofreading, print the final copy and the Chairman signs it. Expect to leave the file and return later.

  1. Appear before the Arbitration Council in person.
  2. Record checking.
  3. Data entry.
  4. Proofreading.
  5. Check of the proofreading.
  6. Final print.
  7. Signature by the Chairman of the Arbitration Council.

Know the fee, the office and the hours

The fee is Rs 250. The office is the Agriculture Complex, G-11/4, Islamabad. It is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a Friday break from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Note the difference from marriage registration, which is done at the Citizen Facilitation Center in the same sector. Divorce registration is at the Agriculture Complex.

Update your records after registration

After you collect the registered divorce, update your CNIC details and any other record that shows marital status. Keep several photocopies and one scan. An office that asks for proof of divorce will want the registered copy.

If the divorce involves a dispute over custody or maintenance, registration does not settle it. Those matters go to a family court. The guide to appealing a family court decree shows how appeals work in Punjab, but Islamabad has its own courts, so ask a lawyer about the capital.

Keep the registered copy with your other family papers. Many people discover too late that they need it, for a new marriage record, an inheritance case or a child's school form. Make three photocopies and one scan on the day you collect it. Check every name and every date before you leave the counter, because a small error is harder to correct later.
