Restore a Disconnected Gas Connection: SNGPL and SSGC Reconnection Steps

Gas cut for unpaid bills? Restore SNGPL supply on its online form or SSGC supply at a CFC. OGRA's one day rule, the papers, and why waiting 180 days costs more.

To restore a disconnected gas connection, pay the dues, then apply for reconnection. SNGPL customers can apply online on SNGPL's "Reconnection Of Domestic Consumer" form, and SSGC customers go to a Customer Facilitation Centre with the paid bill and CNIC. OGRA's standard is reconnection within one working day after full payment.

When the gas is cut, the geyser and the stove stop at once. Then the family finds a sealed meter or a cut service line at the gate. We read OGRA's service standards, SNGPL's supply contract and online form, and SSGC's own consumer manual and FAQs, so the steps below come from the gas companies and their regulator.

Five steps to restore a disconnected SNGPL or SSGC gas connection

Gas reconnection needs the dues paid first

Neither company restores gas while the arrears stand. Clause 20 of SNGPL's domestic supply contract says a disconnected supply is reconnected only after you pay "the usual reconnection charges" and clear the arrears in full, or as agreed with the company.

SSGC's Consumer Service Manual says the same in more detail. Under clause 4.3.1, it restores domestic supply after you clear the amount in default, in full or in instalments it allows, plus the reconnection fee and any gap in your gas supply deposit.

If you cannot pay at once, ask for instalments before applying. Both companies offer them, and SSGC's FAQ says to ask at any Customer Facilitation Centre. The wider rules for paying a gas bill in instalments apply. Missing an instalment can bring the cut straight back.

Restore an SNGPL connection online

SNGPL, which serves Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, has an online reconnection form for homes. We opened it on 2 October 2026 at sngpl.com.pk under Online Services, "Reconnection Of Domestic Consumer". It loaded normally.

  1. Pay the bill. Pay the full arrears with the late payment surcharge at a bank or banking app. SNGPL's contract sets the surcharge at 10 percent of the current month's bill.
  2. Enter your consumer number. The form asks for the 11 digit consumer number from your gas bill. It then fills in your name, disconnection date, reason and the balance due.
  3. Add your CNIC details. Type your CNIC number, its issue date and your mobile number.
  4. Upload four files. The form asks for the front and back of your CNIC, the paid bill, and a property ownership document. A second ownership file is optional.
  5. Submit and track. Keep the reference you get. SNGPL also has a "Track Your Application" page under the same menu.

If your bill is lost, download a copy first through the Sui gas bill check online service, since you need the consumer number and a paid copy.

Restore an SSGC connection at a facilitation centre

SSGC serves Sindh and Balochistan. Its FAQ page tells customers to visit any Customer Facilitation Centre, or CFC, for restoration. Take a copy of the paid bill and your CNIC to the help desk.

SSGC's FAQ sets two timelines. If the gas was off for less than six months, it says supply is restored within 24 hours of handing in the paid bill. If it was off for more than six months, SSGC surveys the premises first, and restoration may take 7 to 10 days.

Its manual adds what you may pay besides the dues, as notified by the authority from time to time:

  • A reconnection fee, charged for every disconnection
  • Service line restoration charges
  • An inspection fee
  • The cost of a service valve, regulator or meter, if needed
  • Any top up of the gas supply deposit under your contract

Neither company publishes a fixed reconnection fee on its website that we could find. Ask the counter for the full figure before you pay, and keep every receipt.

OGRA's rules on notices and reconnection time

OGRA, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, sets service standards for both companies. We read them in the company performance report published on OGRA's website.

OGRA standardWhat it says
Notice of non paymentIssued within 10 days after the due date, with 15 days to pay
Termination for defaultOnly after the notices and payment period expire
Reconnection after paymentWithin one working day, once paid in full and the site is reachable
Service line removalWithin 180 days for a home that does not reconnect
Refunds to consumersDispatched within 30 days
OGRA standard of one working day for gas reconnection after payment

"Access available" matters. If the meter is inside a locked gate, someone must be home when the team comes, or the clock does not run.

SSGC's manual also explains the warning signs on its bills. The first two unpaid bills carry blue "Reminder" and "Warning" messages. The third is printed in red as a "Disconnection Notice". SSGC lists default of five bills and Rs 1,500 or more as its domestic disconnection criteria, though it says the criteria can change.

Wait too long and you may need more than a fee

Time changes the job. SSGC's manual says reconnection within 24 hours applies when no more than a year has passed, the service line has not been "killed" (cut off at the main), and no final bill has been raised. After a year, the company re-surveys the house line for safety first.

OGRA's standard lets a company remove the service line of a home that has not reconnected within 180 days. Once the line is gone, you pay for its restoration as well. So pay early, even if it means an instalment plan.

Never reconnect the gas yourself or pay anyone to break a seal. SSGC's manual says cases involving theft or tampering are handled under the separate theft procedure, not ordinary reconnection. Before you light the first heater after a long cut, check every valve, as set out in the steps to use a gas heater or geyser safely.

If you paid and nothing happened within the standard, call 1199 and keep the complaint number. The routes to escalate a gas complaint to SNGPL, SSGC or OGRA apply here too.

Common questions

How long does gas reconnection take after paying the bill?

OGRA's standard is one working day after full payment, if the site is accessible. SSGC says 24 hours for cuts under six months, and 7 to 10 days after that.

Can I apply for SNGPL gas reconnection online?

Yes. SNGPL's "Reconnection Of Domestic Consumer" form takes your consumer number, CNIC copies, paid bill and an ownership document.

Where do SSGC customers apply for restoration?

At any SSGC Customer Facilitation Centre, with a copy of the paid bill and your CNIC.

How much is the gas reconnection fee?

We could not find a fixed figure published by either company. SSGC's manual says the fee is as notified by the competent authority, so ask at the counter before paying.

Can my gas be cut while the bill's due date has not passed?

Yes, if older bills are unpaid. SSGC's FAQ says the printed due date covers only the current bill.

What happens if I wait months to reconnect?

The company may remove the service line after 180 days for a home, and SSGC re-surveys the house line after a year, which adds cost and time.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 2 October 2026. We read SNGPL's domestic RLNG supply contract (clauses 12 and 20) and opened its online reconnection form. We read SSGC's Consumer Service Manual, section 4, and its FAQ page, questions 22 to 25. We read OGRA's performance standards table in a report on ogra.org.pk. We did not submit a reconnection request, and neither company publishes a fixed reconnection fee that we could find.
