Sindh Approves Rs 14.9 Billion Wheat Subsidy for Farmers With Up to 25 Acres

Sindh will pay an extra Rs 14.9 billion in subsidy to wheat growers who hold up to 25 acres. The Sindh cabinet approved the package on 17 September 2026 at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi, according to Radio Pakistan, the state broadcaster.

The same meeting doubled the extra payment for farmers who sell wheat to the government, from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per 40 kg. Those two points are on the official record. The rest of the detail, including the DAP fertiliser part and how farmers get paid, comes from the cabinet briefing as reported in the press, and we mark it that way below.

One thing is missing. Ten days on, the Sindh government has not published how much each farmer gets per acre or per bag of DAP, or when registration opens. If you grow wheat in Sindh, that is the number to wait for.

Farmers with up to 25 acres qualify for the Sindh wheat subsidy

The Sindh wheat growers subsidy is for farmers who hold up to 25 acres of land. That limit is in the official Radio Pakistan report of the cabinet decision. Larger landholders are outside the package, and the subsidy is linked to wheat, not to other Rabi crops.

The Chief Minister said about 550,000 wheat growers across Sindh should benefit, as reported after the meeting.

The package has two parts: DAP help and a bonus for selling wheat

Every eligible grower gets a flat subsidy to buy DAP fertiliser or an approved substitute, as reported. Farmers who also sell wheat to the Sindh Food Department get a second payment, now Rs 2,000 per 40 kg, which Radio Pakistan confirms was doubled from Rs 1,000.

The sale bonus matters more than it looks. A farmer who sells 100 maunds to the Food Department would get Rs 200,000 at the new rate, against Rs 100,000 before. That is our arithmetic on the official rate.

Payment goes to the Benazir Hari Card through Sindh Bank

The subsidy will be paid through Sindh Bank into each farmer's Benazir Hari Card account, as reported from the cabinet meeting. A farmer without a working Hari Card may be left out until that is fixed.

The Benazir Hari Card is the Sindh government's card for farmers. The Sindh Agriculture, Supply and Prices Department says it was launched on 14 October 2024. The department's own page says 42,000 farmers, including 1,000 women, were registered in Sukkur and Ghotki in the first phase, and that the scheme aims to reach 1.5 million farmers with help for seed, fertiliser and other inputs.

Punjab runs its own card for the same purpose, the Kisan Card, alongside its other farm schemes for Punjab growers. A Punjab card does not work for the Sindh package.

Registration will reopen, but no date or link is out yet

The Chief Minister ordered fresh registration under the Sindh Wheat Growers Support Programme, as reported. Existing beneficiaries will be rechecked through the Revenue Department, and new applicants will use an upgraded digital platform.

We checked the Sindh Agriculture Department website on 27 September 2026. Its latest wheat item is still the Sindh Wheat Growers Support Program 2025. The link to that circular returned "File not found" when we tried it. The Food Department site had no new notice either. So there is no official date, form or link for the 2026 round yet.

Based on what has been reported, the process is likely to run like this:

1. Make sure your land record is in order, because old beneficiaries are being rechecked through the Revenue Department.
2. Get or activate a Benazir Hari Card, since payment is reported to go there.
3. Wait for the Agriculture Department to announce the new registration platform.
4. Register with your CNIC and land details once it opens.
5. Receive the DAP subsidy, and the sale bonus if you sell wheat to the Food Department.

You can check your land entry in advance on Sindh Zameen land records. A wrong name or area there could fail a revalidation. Treat any caller or SMS that asks for a fee to "register" you as a scam. The government has not said there is any fee.

The Sindh wheat support price for 2026-27 is still pending

The cabinet did not set a wheat support price for 2026-27. It deferred that decision for more consultation and a financial assessment, as reported. Only the subsidy has been approved.

At the federal level, no 2026-27 wheat price has been announced either. The last figure the federal government used was an indicative Rs 3,500 per 40 kg, and the wheat support price for 2026-27 is still waiting on a decision. Until Sindh names its own price, the Rs 2,000 sale bonus is the only firm number a grower can plan around.
