Tezgam is one of the few trains that still carries all four main classes, so the fare you pay depends far more on the class than on the distance. Below are both stop lists, the price of each class, and the rules that bite on a 26 hour trip.
Tezgam takes 26 hours 30 minutes from Karachi to Rawalpindi
Both directions take 26 hours 30 minutes over 1,552 km. The 7UP is an evening departure that arrives the next evening. The 8DN is a morning departure from Rawalpindi that reaches Karachi the next morning.
| Train | Leaves | Lahore | Arrives |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7UP, Karachi to Rawalpindi | Karachi Cantt 17:30 | 14:00 to 14:30, next day | Rawalpindi 20:00, next day |
| 8DN, Rawalpindi to Karachi | Rawalpindi 08:00 | 13:15 to 13:45, same day | Karachi Cantt 10:30, next day |
Tezgam also works as a Lahore to Rawalpindi train. On that stretch it leaves Lahore at 14:30 and takes 5 hours 30 minutes. Going south, it leaves Rawalpindi at 08:00 and reaches Lahore at 13:15.

Tezgam fares run from Rs 5,550 to Rs 17,450
The booking system priced four classes on Tezgam for 5 November 2026. On the Lahore to Rawalpindi leg, an Economy berth cost the same as an Economy seat.
| Class | Karachi to Rawalpindi | Lahore to Rawalpindi |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | Rs 5,550 | Rs 1,650 |
| AC Standard berth | Rs 10,900 | Rs 2,400 |
| AC Business | Rs 13,300 | Rs 3,500 |
| AC Sleeper | Rs 17,450 | Rs 4,500 |
Compare that with Hazara Express, which charged Rs 4,200 in Economy for the same Karachi to Rawalpindi trip on the same date. Tezgam costs Rs 1,350 more, but it is about four hours faster and has berths in AC Sleeper. What each class gives you, from a reclining seat to a closed cabin, is set out in Pakistan Railways classes explained.
Children aged 3 to 10 travel at half fare. Pakistan Railways also gives half fare to passengers aged 65 and over, but only on selected trains, and its terms do not name them. Ask at the booking office before you count on it.

Food, luggage and delays on Tezgam
Tezgam is on the Pakistan Railways list of trains with catering, so you can order meals from the bearers or the conductor guard. Free luggage is 50 kg in AC Sleeper and 20 kg in every other class, and the items that get no allowance are listed in the Pakistan Railways luggage allowance.
If the AC fails on the way, the Pakistan Railways terms say you get back the difference between the AC and Economy fare, but only with a guard certificate, form CM-109.
