UHS offers 12 PhD, 16 MPhil and 3 Master's programmes this round
The Fall 2026 list has 31 programmes in all. PhD and MPhil share most basic science subjects such as Anatomy, Biochemistry and Pharmacology. MPhil adds Behavioural Sciences, Chemical Pathology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Oral Biology and Oral Pathology. The three Master's degrees are MHPE, MS Nursing and MPH.
PhD programmes (12)
Anatomy, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Forensic Sciences, Haematology, Histopathology, Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Medical Education, Pharmacology and Physiology.
MPhil programmes (16)
Anatomy, Behavioural Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Forensic Sciences, Haematology, Histopathology, Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology, Oral Biology, Oral Pathology, Pharmacology and Physiology.
Master's programmes (3)
Master in Health Professions Education (MHPE), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Master in Public Health (MPH). Each runs for two years.

Eligibility depends on your degree and, for PhD, a 3.0 CGPA
A PhD needs 18 years of education, such as an MPhil or FCPS, and a CGPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 or a first division. An MPhil needs MBBS, BDS or a relevant BS or Pharm-D. The Master's degrees take MBBS, BDS, BSN, Pharm-D, DPT or BS (AHS).
| Programme | Length | Main qualification | Test pass mark |
|---|---|---|---|
| PhD | 3 years | MPhil, Master's or FCPS (18 years), CGPA 3.0 or first division | 60% in the UHS test, or 60 percentile in a GRE Subject test |
| MPhil | 2 years | MBBS, BDS, relevant BS or Pharm-D, by subject | 55% |
| MS Nursing | 2 years | 4-year BSc Nursing or 2-year Post RN, or PNC equivalent | 55% |
| MHPE | 2 years | MBBS, BDS, BSN, Pharm-D, DPT or BS (AHS) | 55% |
| MPH | 2 years | MBBS, BDS, BSN, Pharm-D, BS Public Health, DPT or BS (AHS) | 55% |
The MPhil subject rules are specific. MBBS opens every MPhil except Oral Biology and Oral Pathology. BDS opens Oral Biology, Oral Pathology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Microbiology, Forensic Sciences and Behavioural Sciences. Pharm-D opens MPhil Pharmacology, Microbiology and Forensic Sciences. BS graduates qualify only for the matching subject, for example a BS in Biochemistry for MPhil Biochemistry, or BS MLT for Forensic Sciences.
The advertisement says MBBS and BDS holders get preference. A PhD candidate should also check that the degree they will hold is recognised. Our guide to checking a PMDC recognised postgraduate qualification covers that for medical degrees.
The admission test has 100 MCQs in 2 hours on 29 November
Every test has 100 multiple choice questions and lasts 2 hours. PhD, MPhil and MS Nursing papers run from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. MHPE and MPH papers run from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The PhD test is fully subject based.
- PhD: 100 subject MCQs.
- MPhil: 30% general (English, analytical reasoning, computer skills) and 70% basic sciences.
- MS Nursing: 30% general and 70% basic sciences.
- MHPE: 30% general and 70% subject based.
- MPH: 30% general and 70% basic sciences.
Because the morning and afternoon slots are separate, a candidate can sit, for example, the MPhil test and the MPH test on the same day. The advertisement allows one candidate to register for both PhD, MPhil or MSN and MHPE or MPH. PhD applicants who already hold a GRE Subject test score at the 60th percentile can use it instead, as the table above shows. If you are also weighing an HEC route, our page on the HEC HAT result for MS and PhD explains that test.

Apply online and pay the Rs 7,000 fee at Bank of Punjab, NBP or 1Bill
Applications go only through the UHS online portal for postgraduate programmes, reached from uhs.edu.pk. The processing fee is Rs 7,000, non-refundable. Pay it at a Bank of Punjab or National Bank branch or through the 1Bill invoice option, then upload the paid challan.
- Open uhs.edu.pk and go to the online admission portal for postgraduate programmes.
- Create an account with your full name, father's or guardian's name, email, mobile number and a password.
- Choose PhD, MPhil or MSN, or MHPE or MPH, and then the discipline.
- Fill in your personal details, including domicile, gender and date of birth.
- Enter your academic record with marks, year of passing and awarding university.
- Upload scanned documents, each under 500 KB. PhD applicants add a one-page Statement of Purpose.
- Read and accept the undertaking, then submit. You get a confirmation email.
- Download the application and the bank challan, pay Rs 7,000, and upload the paid challan before the deadline.
The advertisement warns against the 1Bill top-up option, which must not be used. Use the 1Bill invoice payment instead. No hard copy is needed, and no change is allowed after final submission, so check every field before you press submit.
Four mistakes can cancel your UHS application
UHS rejects incomplete or unpaid forms, and any false or forged detail cancels the admission. In-service staff need an NOC from their employer. Anyone with a foreign degree needs an equivalence certificate from HEC, PMDC, PN&MC or AHPC, as relevant.
- Pay and upload the challan before 5:00 pm on 23 November. An unpaid form is rejected.
- Get your NOC early if you work for a government department. Officers on deputation must apply through the proper channel.
- Arrange the equivalence certificate now if your degree is from abroad. It can take weeks.
- Keep every scan under 500 KB so the upload does not fail on the last day.
Test results, interview schedules and merit lists will appear on the UHS website, which also lists programme fees and faculty. For other medical postgraduate options in the same season, see NUMS postgraduate admissions for Spring 2027.
