Apply for the UNDP Digital and AI Internship from Pakistan by 30 September

UNDP's Digital, AI and Innovation Internship 2026 is home based, open worldwide, and Pakistani students and recent graduates can apply from Pakistan. Applications close on 30 September 2026. You must apply in two places: the UNDP vacancy page and a separate Airtable form. Miss either one and your application is not considered.

We read the live vacancy on UNDP's careers portal on 27 September 2026. It lists the post as "Home Based", with a contract length of 3 months and fluency in English as the language requirement. The portal shows the posting ending at 03:59 UTC on 1 October 2026, which is 8:59 am on 1 October in Pakistan. Do not plan around that margin. Treat 30 September as your last day.

The vacancy sits with UNDP's Digital, AI and Innovation Hub, part of its Bureau for Policy and Programme Support in New York. Nothing in the vacancy limits it by nationality, and UNDP's standard notice says it does not discriminate on nationality. The Airtable form simply asks where you will be during the internship, city and country, so "Lahore, Pakistan" is a normal answer.

Who can apply for the UNDP Digital, AI and Innovation Internship

You qualify if you are in a master's or higher programme, in the final year of a bachelor's degree, or graduated within the last year. A recent graduate must start the internship within one year of graduating. Fluent English is required, and experience in a workstream is only a plus.

How to apply in two places before 30 September

Submit your application on UNDP's careers portal first, with a CV and a short cover letter in English. Then fill in the Airtable form linked in the vacancy, choosing up to three workstreams. The form itself says it only counts once the portal application is in.

1. Open the UNDP vacancy for the Digital, AI and Innovation Internship and click apply.
2. Create a profile with your email. Fill in contact details, eligibility questions, education (including current study), work history, languages and skills.
3. Upload your CV and a brief cover letter, both in English.
4. Submit, then open the Airtable link given in the vacancy text.
5. On the form, enter your name, email, LinkedIn if you have one, current location, nationality, languages, field of study and graduation date. Upload your CV again and pick up to three workstreams.

The Airtable form asks you to confirm you have "already submitted" your application on UNDP's system, which it calls Quantum. That is why the order matters. Do the portal first.

Put your expected graduation date if you are still studying. The form uses the US date format, month first, so 15 June 2027 is 06/15/2027. Pakistani applicants get this wrong often enough that it is worth a second look.

Pick up to three of the eight workstreams

The Airtable form lists eight workstreams and lets you rank up to three. They range from AI product design and data analytics to communications and operations. Choose the ones your degree and projects actually support, because the reviewer reads them against your CV.

A computer science student with a machine learning project should lead with Product Design or Data Analytics. A social sciences graduate who writes well has a better case for Data Policy or Communications. Picking all the technical streams without a matching project on your CV does not help. If you want to show practical skill with AI tools for students, name the tool and what you built with it in the cover letter.

What the stipend, duration and working hours look like

UNDP pays interns a monthly stipend under its internship policy. The rate depends on location, and remote internships are prorated. The vacancy does not print an amount. It lists a 3-month contract and a flexible start date, set by need.

UNDP's careers FAQ explains the rest. A stipend is paid unless another institution, government or scholarship already funds you. In that case UNDP pays only the difference, if there is one. Internships can be full time or part time at 50 or 80 per cent, with regular hours of 8 per day. Interns also get 1.5 days of personal time off per month.

Figures of 200 to 500 US dollars a month are being shared online for this call. We could not find those numbers on any UNDP page, so treat them as reported, not confirmed. The real rate will be in your offer.

Other costs are yours. The vacancy says every expense other than the stipend is borne by the intern or a sponsor. You must show proof of health insurance, and the FAQ adds a certificate of good health before you start. Interns are not UNDP staff and cannot represent UNDP officially.

Timeline, replies and scam warnings

UNDP says it will only contact successful candidates, any time between April and the end of 2026. So silence is normal. If someone asks you for money to "confirm" a UNDP place, it is a scam, because the UN charges no application, interview or training fee.

A few points to plan around:

• You may be asked to prove your English level, through a spoken exercise or a test result.
• UNDP does not count internships as work experience toward its staff jobs, and there is no promise of a job after.

Keep the cover letter to a few short paragraphs. Name the workstream, show one piece of work that proves you can do it, and say what you want to learn. UNDP's FAQ warns against a generic letter used for every vacancy.

• First paragraph: which internship, which workstream, and your degree status with your graduation date.
• Second paragraph: one concrete project. A dashboard you built, a research paper, an app, a campaign. Give a number where you can.
• Third paragraph: why development work and digital tools matter to you, tied to something real in Pakistan.

If you have no job history, UNDP's own advice is to use university projects and activities to show teamwork, decision-making and problem solving. That is fair advice. A final-year project described well beats a vague list of skills.
