YouTube Premium Lite in Pakistan Costs PKR 299 a Month

YouTube Premium Lite costs PKR 299 a month in Pakistan, after a one-month free trial for eligible new members. It removes ads from most non-music videos and allows background play and downloads for most videos. It does not include YouTube Music Premium. We read the price on YouTube's Pakistan page on 28 September 2026.

When this page first appeared in March 2025, Premium Lite had no Pakistan price. We guessed it would land at PKR 250 to 300 and said it would have no background play. The price guess was close. The feature claim is now wrong.

Google's help page for Premium Lite now lists background play and downloads for most videos. So we rewrote this page with what YouTube Premium Lite in Pakistan actually offers today, read on YouTube's and Google's own pages.

YouTube Premium Lite costs PKR 299 a month in Pakistan

YouTube's Premium page for Pakistan lists Premium Lite at PKR 299 a month for one person. The first month is free for eligible new members. That is PKR 180 less than full Premium at PKR 479, which also includes YouTube Music Premium.

Lite has no Family or Student version. A student who wants ad-free YouTube pays only PKR 30 more for full Premium Student, and gets music and every other feature with it. Full prices for every plan are on the YouTube Premium price in Pakistan list.

What Premium Lite includes

Premium Lite removes ads from most videos, such as gaming, news, cooking and tech. It also gives background play, so audio keeps going with the screen off, and downloads for offline viewing. Both work on most videos, but not on Shorts or music.

• Fewer ads: no ads on most non-music videos, on YouTube and YouTube Kids.
• Background play: audio keeps playing when you switch apps or lock the phone.
• Downloads: save videos and playlists to watch without internet.

Downloads are the useful part in Pakistan. Mobile data drops out on long bus rides and during load shedding, when home Wi-Fi goes off. A lecture or a drama episode saved at home keeps playing.

What Premium Lite leaves out

Premium Lite does not include YouTube Music Premium. Ads may still appear on music content, on Shorts, and when you search or browse. Google also says Lite lacks extras such as continue watching, Jump ahead, queuing, and high quality audio and video.

Google counts a lot of videos as music

Lite's limits apply to music content, and Google defines that widely. It includes official music videos, art tracks, children's songs, and user videos that use songs from music partners, such as covers, dance clips, or a vlog with a popular song playing.

That last part catches people out. A travel vlog with a hit song in the background can count as music. So can a wedding dance video. On those, a Lite member may still see ads and cannot play them in the background.

So Lite suits someone who watches talk, news, sport highlights, cooking or study videos, and listens to music somewhere else. If you play songs on YouTube every day, full Premium is the better buy.

How to join, upgrade or cancel Premium Lite

Go to youtube.com/premiumlite, start the free month and add a Visa or Mastercard issued in Pakistan. To move to full Premium or cancel, open youtube.com/paid_memberships and click Manage membership. You can do both from a web browser.

1. Open youtube.com/premiumlite in a web browser while signed in.
2. Start the one-month trial if your account is eligible.
3. Add a Pakistan-issued Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card.
4. To upgrade, open youtube.com/paid_memberships, click Manage membership, then Upgrade.
5. To cancel, click Deactivate, then Continue to cancel, pick a reason and click Yes, cancel.

The old version of this page said you could pay with JazzCash or Easypaisa. That was never confirmed. Google's payment page for Pakistan lists only Mastercard and Visa, issued in Pakistan, for direct billing. Signing up through the Google Play app is different, and the ways of paying on Google Play in Pakistan include Jazz billing for some users. We did not test that route for Lite.

Your bank may also add FBR's advance tax under section 236Y on card payments abroad, at 0.5% for people on the Active Taxpayers List and 1% for others. On PKR 299, even 1% is about PKR 3.

Premium Lite is worth it for video watchers, not music fans

At PKR 299, Premium Lite is the cheapest way to remove most YouTube ads in Pakistan. It is a good deal if you mainly watch non-music videos. If music is a big part of your YouTube use, pay PKR 479 for full Premium instead.

There is a third choice for households. Premium Family at PKR 899 covers up to six people at one address. Shared six ways, that is about PKR 150 each, half the price of Lite, with music included.
