To call Malaysia cheaply from a Zong SIM, dial *625# and pick a bundle: Rs 30 plus tax for 10 minutes a day, Rs 100 for 50 minutes a week, or Rs 400 for 250 minutes a month. The monthly bundle works out near Rs 1.6 a minute, about half the daily price per minute.

A brother in Kuala Lumpur, a cousin on a factory contract, a student on a scholarship: Pakistani homes call Malaysia more than most people think. We read Zong's IDD Malaysia bundle page on 21 October 2026. All prices below are plus tax, as Zong lists them.

Zong sells three prepaid Malaysia bundles and one postpaid bundle

Prepaid users can choose a daily, weekly or monthly bundle. Postpaid users get the monthly one only. Every bundle gives talktime to Malaysia, and the code to subscribe and to unsubscribe is the same: *625#.

BundleSIM typePrice (+ tax)MinutesCost per minute
Malaysia DailyPrepaidRs 3010Rs 3.00
Malaysia WeeklyPrepaidRs 10050Rs 2.00
Malaysia MonthlyPrepaidRs 400250Rs 1.60
Malaysia MonthlyPostpaidRs 400250Rs 1.60

The cost per minute is our own arithmetic: the price divided by the minutes, before tax. Zong does not print it. The page does not state the validity in days for the daily, weekly and monthly names, so we take those names at face value.

Zong Malaysia calling bundle prices and minutes for daily, weekly and monthly

The monthly bundle is the cheapest way to call Malaysia if you call every week

The Rs 400 monthly bundle gives 250 minutes, about Rs 1.60 a minute. The daily bundle costs Rs 3 a minute. If you buy a daily bundle every day for a month, 25 of them would cost Rs 750 for the same 250 minutes.

So the choice is simple. One short call a month: take the daily bundle and stop. A call every weekend: the weekly bundle at Rs 100 is fair. Talking most days, or sharing the line with a family: the monthly bundle wins by a clear margin.

Free minutes work only on Malaysian landline and mobile numbers

Zong says the free minutes are used only on landline and mobile numbers in Malaysia. Calls to any other country are charged at that country's base tariff, and after the bundle runs out the standard international rate applies again.

The offer is valid only for Zong subscribers in Pakistan. One more rule matters for anyone who likes to top up early. Zong says remaining bundle minutes will not be added if you activate another IDD voice bundle for Malaysia. So wait until the old bundle is spent before you buy the next one, or you may lose the minutes you had left.

How to subscribe, check and stop

Zong lists *625# for both subscribing and unsubscribing. Dial it from your own number, read the reply, and keep the confirmation message. To see what is left, use the normal balance checks, and to stop, dial the same code again.

  1. Decide the size: daily, weekly or monthly.
  2. Dial *625# from the Zong number you will call from.
  3. Choose the bundle in the menu and confirm.
  4. Read the reply for the price and minutes, and keep the SMS.
  5. Call Malaysia with the country code, +60, before the number.
  6. Dial *625# again when you want to unsubscribe.

We did not test the menu itself, so the order of the options on your phone may differ from the list above. To see what is left in your bundle, the steps to check remaining Zong minutes apply. For the other codes that stop services on a Zong SIM, see how to unsubscribe from Zong packages.

Other Zong routes to Malaysia and what to do when the bundle fails

If you want to build your own mix of minutes for several countries, Zong also sells a make-your-own IDD bundle in the My Zong app. Calls over WhatsApp need data on both phones and are a separate route.

If minutes are charged at the normal rate even after you subscribed, check that you dialled a Malaysian landline or mobile number and that you are not on international roaming. Then call Zong on 310 or 111 222 111. If it is still not fixed, the PTA telecom complaint guide explains the next step.

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
