If Google has disabled your AdSense account for invalid traffic, you get one real chance to appeal, through Google's online AdSense appeal form. Google says further appeals may not be considered after it decides, and a refused appeal means you cannot open a new account. So write the appeal once, carefully, with evidence.

We read Google's AdSense Help pages on accounts disabled for invalid traffic, the definition of invalid traffic, and its prevention tips on 6 November 2026. The steps and rules below come from those pages. We have not appealed a disabled account ourselves, so we make no claim about how often appeals succeed.

Google disables an account when it finds clicks that are not real

Google checks every click and impression on AdSense ads for patterns that could raise an advertiser's costs or a publisher's earnings without real interest. It decides what counts as invalid "in its sole discretion". When the problem is serious enough, it disables the whole account, not just one site.

Google's own list of invalid traffic has four parts. Each one catches publishers who did not think they were cheating.

What Google listsHow it often happens
Publishers clicking their own live adsTesting an ad from your own phone or laptop
Repeated clicks or impressions from one or more usersFriends or family clicking often to "help"
Publishers encouraging clicksA WhatsApp or Facebook post asking people to click ads, or ads placed where people tap by mistake
Automated clicking tools, robots or deceptive softwareBought traffic, traffic exchanges or click bots

Google also says invalid traffic covers accidental clicks, not only fraud. An ad squeezed beside a download button can be enough.

Four kinds of invalid traffic that can get an AdSense account disabled

Find the cause before you open the appeal form

Google asks you to confirm that the invalid traffic was not caused by you, by your negligence, or by people you are responsible for. It also asks what you will change. You cannot answer either honestly until you know where the traffic came from.

Spend a day on this first. Look at Google Analytics or your hosting statistics for the weeks before the account was closed. Check for a sudden jump from one country, one referral site, one social post or one page. Ask everyone in your house and your team whether they clicked ads, and on which devices. Check whether you bought promotion, joined a traffic exchange or used a cheap ad network.

Write down dates, sources and numbers. A specific appeal, such as "a traffic exchange we joined on 12 October sent 3,000 visits in two days; we left it on 15 October", is far stronger than "I never clicked my ads".

Five steps to send the AdSense appeal

The appeal goes through one online form, the AdSense and AdMob appeal form linked from Google's help page. Google says to give as much information about the activity as you can, plus the email address tied to the closed account.

  1. Open Google's AdSense invalid traffic help page and follow its link to the online appeal form.
  2. Enter the email address of the disabled AdSense account, and fill in each field the form asks for.
  3. Describe the traffic: where it came from, when it started and how you found it, with numbers.
  4. Confirm the invalid traffic was not caused by your actions or negligence, or by people you are responsible for. Say so only if it is true.
  5. List the changes you have already made, such as removing click requests, leaving a traffic source or moving ads away from buttons, then submit.

Fix those things before you send the form, not after. An appeal that promises changes your site does not yet show is weaker than one that describes changes already live.

Five steps to appeal an AdSense account disabled for invalid traffic

What happens to your earnings after the account is disabled

Google says a disabled publisher may be eligible for a final payment for the part of the earnings that was not flagged as invalid. A 30 day payment hold applies first, while Google works out that final amount.

To receive it, you must have verified your personal information, including entering the PIN Google posts to your address. If you never entered the PIN, follow our AdSense PIN guide. The money that was flagged as invalid is not paid to you. Google says it refunds that amount to the affected advertisers where appropriate and possible.

StageWhat Google says
Payment hold after disabling30 days, while the final payment is worked out
Final paymentPossible for earnings not flagged as invalid
ConditionPersonal details verified, including the PIN
Flagged earningsRefunded to advertisers where possible
If reinstatedAds may take up to 48 hours to return

A refused appeal closes the door for good

Google says reinstatement is not guaranteed. After it decides on your appeal, further appeals may not be considered. If the appeal is refused, you are not allowed to rejoin AdSense or open a new account.

That is why a rushed appeal written in five minutes is a mistake. Do not open a second account in a relative's name to get around it either. Google says a denied appeal bars you from opening a new account, and that rule covers you, not just one email address.

If the appeal works, Google says ad serving can take up to 48 hours to start again. YouTube creators may need to link their channel to AdSense again. For the rules YouTube monetisation follows, see our YouTube monetisation requirements page.

Keep the new account clean if you are reinstated

Google's prevention tips are short. Understand your traffic by splitting reports into URL channels, custom channels or ad units. Avoid low quality ad networks, search engines and directory sites that send odd visitors. Never click your own ads, even to check where they go: use the Ad review center for that.

Check your ad code follows Google's ad placement policies and works on phones and desktop browsers. If a traffic source looks strange, ask in the AdSense Help Community. Before you put a new site on the account, check it against our AdSense eligibility checklist.

Common questions

How do I appeal an AdSense account disabled for invalid traffic?

Use the online appeal form linked from Google's AdSense help page on invalid traffic. Give the closed account's email, the details of the traffic, and the changes you have made.

How many times can I appeal a disabled AdSense account?

Google does not give a number. It says that after it decides on your appeal, further appeals may not be considered. Treat the first appeal as your only one.

Will I get my AdSense earnings after the account is disabled?

Possibly part of them. Google says you may get a final payment for earnings not flagged as invalid, after a 30 day hold, if your details and PIN are verified.

Can I open a new AdSense account after a refused appeal?

No. Google says that if your appeal is denied, you will not be able to rejoin or open a new account.

Does Google tell me which clicks were invalid?

No. Google says it cannot share how it monitors traffic. You have to find the likely source yourself from your own analytics.

How long after reinstatement do ads come back?

Google says ad serving may take up to 48 hours to resume after an account is reinstated.
