Short answer: Google AdSense asks for three things: your own original, high quality content, a site that follows its program policies, and an applicant aged 18 or over. You also need access to your site's HTML source code. Review usually takes a few days, but Google says it can take two to four weeks.

Picture a student in Multan who builds a blog in the evening and applies for AdSense the same night. The rejection arrives, and he has no idea why. Most rejections come from the same short list of checks that nobody told him to run first.

We read Google's AdSense eligibility, sign-up and program policy pages on 12 October 2026. We did not apply with an account, so we give you Google's own words rather than a result of ours. Google says it may change its policies at any time, so check the pages again on the day you apply.

Google lists three eligibility questions

Google's eligibility page asks if you have your own unique and interesting content, if it complies with the AdSense Program policies and if you are at least 18 years old. A yes to all three is the starting line, not a promise of approval.

Google also states that your content must be high quality, original and attract an audience. A copied or lightly reworded article fails that test.

If you are under 18, Google says a parent or guardian may sign up with their own Google Account, and all payments go to that responsible adult.

You must be able to edit the site you submit

Google says you need to be able to access the HTML source code of the site you submit. That matters because you must connect the site to AdSense, and the connection step touches the site itself. Without access to the code, you may not be able to finish it.

This rules out a site you only visit as a reader. It also affects a free blog address you do not control. If you want a site you own, our guide on how to register a .pk domain shows the first step.

Check your hosting or site builder first. Some builders allow code in the page head and some do not.

Policies you break by accident

Google's program policies cover invalid clicks and impressions, encouraging clicks, traffic sources, ad behaviour and placement, and site behaviour. The simplest rule is never click your own ads and never ask others to.

The policy page says publishers may not click their own ads or use any means to inflate impressions or clicks artificially. It also names malware, redirects and deceptive practices under site behaviour. Break these after approval and Google can disable the account.

Content rules sit in a separate set of publisher policies that we did not read in full. Read them before you publish anything sensitive. For a site that uses AI tools, our summary of Google's rules on AI-written content shows what Google expects.

How to apply in five steps

Google's sign-up page lists four stages: create an account, enter your payment information, connect your site and wait for review. You can also sign up through Blogger or YouTube Studio if you use those. Identity verification may be needed from June 2026, Google says.

  1. Read the eligibility page and the program policies first.
  2. Make sure your pages are original and your site opens without errors.
  3. Sign up with a Google Account and enter your payment details.
  4. Connect your site to AdSense as the account asks.
  5. Wait for the review and read any message in your account before you change anything.

Google tells new users that some features stay unavailable until a few set-up tasks are done. That is normal and not a rejection.

What comes after approval

Approval is the start of the work. You must keep following the policies, and you need to know how and when you get paid in Pakistan. Our guide on how AdSense pays Pakistani publishers covers the payment side.

If you earn from YouTube instead of a website, the rules differ. Read our notes on what YouTube pays in Pakistan before you compare the two.

Whatever you earn, it is income. Freelancers and creators should read how to declare YouTube and TikTok income in an FBR tax return.

Common questions

What is the minimum age for AdSense?

You must be at least 18. Google says a parent or guardian can sign up for a minor using their own Google Account, with payments going to that adult.

Do I need my own domain to apply?

Google's page does not name a domain as a requirement. It does say you must have access to the HTML source code of the site you submit.

How long does AdSense review take?

Google says it usually takes a few days, but in some cases it can take two to four weeks. Do not apply again during that time.

Can I copy articles from other sites and still get approved?

No. Google says your content must be high quality and original. It asks for your own unique content.

Can I click my own ads to test them?

No. Google's policy says publishers may not click their own ads or inflate impressions or clicks by any means. Do not do it.

Is AdSense available for YouTube channels?

Google's page says a YouTube creator can sign up for an AdSense for YouTube account. You can also use YouTube Studio to start.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Google's AdSense eligibility requirements, the sign-up page and the AdSense Program policies on 12 October 2026. We did not read the publisher content policies in full, we did not apply with an account, and country specific rules were not stated on the pages we read.
