Al Baraka Bank's schedule of charges for July to December 2026 makes transfers to other banks free up to Rs 25,000 a month, charges Rs 35 for cash at another bank's ATM and Rs 300 a month for SMS alerts on an individual account. A PayPak debit card costs Rs 2,500 a year, and Mastercard cards cost Rs 3,500 to Rs 12,000. Closing an account and reactivating a dormant one are both free.

Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) is an Islamic bank, so its schedule explains that it cannot charge a fee just for a guarantee or financial commitment. Everyday account fees still apply. We read the full English schedule for July to December 2026 on the bank's website on 31 October 2026 and pulled out the fees ordinary account holders actually pay.

Al Baraka IBFT is free up to Rs 25,000 a month

Al Baraka charges nothing for transfers to other banks through ATMs or digital banking until you send Rs 25,000 in a month. Above that, each transfer costs 0.1% of the amount or Rs 200, whichever is lower. Raast and transfers within Al Baraka are free.

A Rs 100,000 transfer after the free limit costs Rs 100. Anything from Rs 200,000 up pays the Rs 200 cap. Those are our sums using the bank's rule. Raast skips the charge entirely, and most banks follow the same Rs 25,000 limit, as set out in IBFT charges across Pakistani banks.

Al Baraka debit cards cost Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,000 a year

Getting the first card is free. The yearly fee is Rs 2,500 for any PayPak card, Rs 2,800 or Rs 4,000 for UnionPay, and Rs 3,500, Rs 5,000 or Rs 12,000 for Mastercard Classic, Gold and Platinum. A replacement after loss costs the same as a year's fee.

Debit cardAnnual feeReplacement
PayPak Standard, NexGen or AuraRs 2,500Rs 2,500
UnionPay ClassicRs 2,800Rs 2,800
UnionPay GoldRs 4,000Rs 4,000
Mastercard ClassicRs 3,500Rs 3,500
Mastercard GoldRs 5,000Rs 5,000
Mastercard PlatinumRs 12,000Rs 12,000

Pick PayPak unless you shop online abroad. It is the cheapest, and PayPak is the domestic card scheme built for use inside Pakistan. Mastercard and UnionPay purchases outside Pakistan, including foreign websites, cost 4% of the amount on top. Several Al Baraka accounts give a free PayPak card for the first year. A wider comparison is in debit card annual fees by bank.

Al Baraka charges Rs 35 for cash at another bank's ATM

Each cash withdrawal at an ATM of another bank costs Rs 35. A balance check on the shared 1Link network costs Rs 5.50. Al Baraka's own ATMs charge nothing for its cardholders.

Card useAl Baraka charge
Cash at another bank's ATMRs 35
Balance inquiry on 1LinkRs 5.50
ATM receipt for other banks' customers at Al Baraka ATMsRs 4.67
Shopping or ATM cash abroad4% of the amount
Balance inquiry at an ATM abroadRs 250

Taking cash twice a week from another bank's ATM adds up to about Rs 3,640 a year, on our arithmetic. One larger withdrawal at an Al Baraka ATM costs nothing. Daily ATM limits differ by bank, as shown in ATM cash withdrawal limits.

Al Baraka SMS alerts cost Rs 300 a month

SMS alerts on an individual rupee account cost Rs 300 a month, and Rs 900 a month on a company account. Mobile app and email alerts are free. On a foreign currency account, SMS alerts cost USD 12 a year.

Rs 300 a month is Rs 3,600 a year, our arithmetic, which is high next to many banks. If you already use the app, its alerts cover the same transactions for free. Some Al Baraka accounts include SMS alerts at no charge, so check your account type before you cancel. More on this charge across banks is in bank SMS charges.

  1. Look at last month's statement for a Rs 300 deduction marked as SMS.
  2. Check whether your account type lists SMS alerts as a free service.
  3. Turn on app and email alerts, which the schedule lists as free.
  4. Ask the branch or helpline on 111 113 442 to stop SMS alerts in writing.
  5. Confirm the deduction is gone on the next statement.

Cheques, statements and account closing at Al Baraka

A cheque book costs Rs 25 a leaf on current and savings accounts. Stopping one cheque costs Rs 350, a duplicate statement Rs 35, and a pay order Rs 150 for account holders. Closing an account costs nothing, and neither does reactivating a dormant one.

A 25 leaf cheque book therefore costs Rs 625. A returned cheque is expensive at Rs 600, and the schedule applies it for insufficient funds, a signature mismatch and similar faults. Lockers cost Rs 4,500, Rs 6,500 or Rs 8,500 a year by size, and become free if you keep an average balance of Rs 750,000, Rs 1 million or Rs 1.5 million. Students, Zakat recipients and government salary or pension accounts are exempt from service charges under the schedule. Restarting a dormant account follows the steps in reactivating a dormant account.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Al Baraka Bank's schedule of charges page and the English schedule for July to December 2026 on 31 October 2026, and matched two-column rows against the PDF's raw text. Taxes such as federal excise duty and provincial sales tax apply on top, as the schedule notes. Rupee examples are our arithmetic. We did not hold or test an Al Baraka account.
