Short answer: IBA Karachi's need-based financial assistance gives "bridge financing" of 25 to 90 per cent of tuition, decided by its Financial Assistance Committee. You can apply only after you win admission, and only online at ibaapps.iba.edu.pk/financialassistance during the dates IBA announces. You must keep a CGPA of 2.5.

A seat at IBA is not the end of the money question. For many families it is the start. The fee runs to Rs 31,500 per credit hour for undergraduates, so students ask what help exists before they accept an offer.

We read IBA's need-based financial assistance page and its financial aid FAQ on 14 October 2026. This guide follows those pages. We did not find the dates of the current application window, so check the official page for them.

Bridge financing covers 25 to 90 per cent of tuition

IBA says its need-based scholarships come from Zakat and donors from the public and private sectors. While it connects you to a donor, IBA pays part of your tuition as bridge financing. The share ranges from 25 to 90 per cent, set by the committee.

The level depends on the need shown in your application. IBA says there is no waiting list. If you get less than you asked for, or are declined, you can apply again on the dates shown on the aid page. Awards depend on available funds.

Only admitted full-time morning students can apply

IBA says need-based aid is for full-time students in morning programmes who cannot pay through fee instalments or Qarz-e-Hasna, an interest-free loan arranged through outside donors. The FAQ states that you cannot apply before you secure admission.

Undergraduates get aid for Fall and Spring tuition, course by course, for up to eight consecutive semesters from first admission. Repeated courses, withdrawn courses and deficiency courses are not covered. Graduate students get aid for the length of their programme as stated in the announcement, except in the EMBA and MS Journalism, and they must take a full course load and not freeze a semester.

For new students, bridge financing is offered at the time of admission only. Continuing students apply at the start of each academic year, so the committee can reassess their level.

What IBA asks you to submit

You fill in the online form, upload scanned documents and give the CNICs of every family member over 18. IBA also requires income tax returns for every earning family member, except for residents of Gilgit-Baltistan, which it describes as tax exempt.

  1. Win a place at IBA and receive your offer.
  2. Open the aid page and wait for the stated application dates.
  3. Fill in the online form at ibaapps.iba.edu.pk/financialassistance.
  4. Upload the CNICs of all family members over 18 and the other documents on the checklist.
  5. Add income tax returns of all earning family members, unless exempt.
  6. Wait for the committee to review, and attend an interview if it asks.
Steps to apply for IBA Karachi need-based financial assistance

IBA says it accepts electronic applications only, and incomplete applications are not processed. A committee of senior faculty and staff reviews each one. It may call you or your parents to check the income and expense details you gave.

You must keep a CGPA of 2.5

To keep aid, you need a minimum CGPA of 2.5. If it falls below that after the Fall semester, your aid does not continue into Spring. A scholarship percentage usually holds for the rest of that academic year, and you reapply at the start of the next.

There is one more rule that catches students out. Every aid recipient must also apply for the outside scholarships the Financial Assistance office recommends. IBA says refusing to do so ends the bridge financing. Treat each recommended scholarship as part of the deal, and keep the dates in your calendar.

Outside scholarships and loans still matter

IBA's scholarships page lists the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) and the Sindh Educational Endowment Fund (SEEF) as available programmes. Both are outside funds, with their own forms and dates, so apply to them directly.

Read how to apply for the PEEF scholarship in Punjab and what the SEEF scholarship in Sindh asks. For a loan instead of a grant, the NBP interest-free student loan is another route. Students from other universities can compare with the HEC need-based scholarship. Count on fee instalments too, which IBA lists as a separate aid option.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the IBA need-based financial assistance page, the IBA financial aid FAQ and the IBA scholarships page.
