Applications for Swedish universities in autumn 2027 open on 16 October 2026 and close on 15 January 2027. You apply on universityadmissions.se and pay a SEK 900 application fee, which is not refundable. Pakistani applicants are non-EU, so they also pay tuition fees later.

Sweden runs one national application site for English taught bachelor's and master's programmes. The first round is built for international students, and it has the earliest deadline of the year. We opened the official University Admissions site on 15 October 2026 and read the dates, the fee rules and the English requirements. All figures below come from those pages.

The first round is for international students. It opens on 16 October 2026 and closes on 15 January 2027, which is also the last day to rank your courses. Results come on 1 April for master's and 8 April for bachelor's.

The site does not give a closing time for these deadlines, so do not leave the last day for the last hour. A second round runs from 15 March to 15 April 2027, but it is meant for people living in Sweden. The site says non-EU students who need a residence permit will most likely not have time to get one through that round.

The application fee is SEK 900 and Pakistanis must pay it

University Admissions charges SEK 900 once per semester you apply for, however many courses you choose. It is not refundable. Non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss citizens must pay, so Pakistani applicants pay both this fee and tuition fees.

Pay by card online for the fastest result. Only Visa (including Visa Electron) and Mastercard (including Maestro) are accepted, and the site says other cards cannot be taken. Bank transfer is possible, but you must quote your reference number or the payment cannot be matched. If payment does not show after two working days, contact University Admissions.

Doctoral applicants are exempt from application and tuition fees, because fees apply only to first and second cycle courses. Each university sets its own tuition fee, and the amounts appear in the course search results. Compare them before you rank, since the same subject can cost different amounts at two universities.

English 6 is the usual rule, with IELTS Academic 6.5 as proof

Bachelor's courses need English 6 (upper secondary level 2). Most master's courses need the same, though some ask for English 5 or 7. IELTS Academic at overall 6.5, with no section below 5.5, meets English 6.

IELTS General Training and IELTS Indicator are not accepted. A letter from your school or university does not replace a test, unless you have 60 credits taught in English from an approved country. IELTS results stay valid for two years. The fees for these exams in Pakistan are listed in the IELTS fee in Pakistan and TOEFL fee in Pakistan pages.

Your place is conditional until you pay the first tuition instalment

A university offer is not final until you pay the first tuition fee instalment. The Swedish Migration Agency will not process a residence permit before that payment. Apply for the permit as soon as you have paid and received the university's confirmation.

That order matters for timing. Results arrive in early April, the permit needs processing time, and the semester starts in August or September. Open the Migration Agency page as soon as you pay. The University Admissions page states no funds requirement, so check the Migration Agency page for what a permit needs.

Follow this order from account to offer

Create an account, search for courses, rank them, pay the fee, then upload documents. The order of your ranking can affect your results, so rank your real first choice first. Do not wait for 15 January, because late documents are the commonest problem.

  1. Create your account on universityadmissions.se from 16 October 2026.
  2. Search programmes and check the tuition fee and English level for each.
  3. Rank your choices, with the course you want most first.
  4. Pay SEK 900 by Visa or Mastercard before 1 February 2027.
  5. Upload transcripts, proof of English and other documents by 1 February 2027.
  6. Watch for results on 1 April (master's) or 8 April (bachelor's).
  7. If you accept, pay the first tuition instalment and apply for the permit.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 15 October 2026. Dates, fee, fee exemptions, English scores and the permit order come from universityadmissions.se, on the key dates, fee, entry requirement and residence permit pages, which we opened on that date. We did not open a Pakistan specific qualification page, so check yours. Tuition fee amounts and living cost rules are not on those pages. Confirm every date before you pay.
