Pakistanis who live in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, the US or an EU or Schengen country can enter Armenia without a visa from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, for up to 180 days in a year. The residence permit must be valid for at least six more months on the day you arrive. A Pakistani living in Pakistan, with no such permit, still needs a visa, and Armenia gives it only on an invitation from Armenia.
We read Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa page, its list of 111 countries covered by the temporary exemption (dated 30 June 2026) and its invitation only list on 7 November 2026. Pakistan is number 79 on the exemption list. Pakistan is also on the invitation only list. Both facts matter, and which one applies to you depends on where you live.
Gulf, US and EU residents with a Pakistani passport can enter visa free
Armenia's ministry says nationals of 111 countries who hold a valid residence permit from one of nine places are exempt from the visa from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027. Pakistan is on that list. The nine places are:
- The United States
- Any EU member state or Schengen state
- The United Arab Emirates
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- Kuwait
- Oman
- Bahrain
The stay limit is 180 days within one year. The rule is temporary. It ends on 1 July 2027 unless Armenia extends it, so check the ministry page again before a trip planned close to that date.

Your residence permit must pass three checks at the Armenian border
The exemption is not automatic for every card. The ministry sets three conditions, and border officers apply them on the spot.
- Six months of validity. The permit must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Armenia. An iqama or Emirates ID that expires in four months does not qualify.
- Card or sticker form. The permit must be a physical card or a sticker in your passport. A screenshot or an app record is not mentioned as acceptable.
- Latin script details. Border officers may accept the permit if it shows, in Latin letters, the document title, your given name, surname and nationality, your date of birth and the validity period in Gregorian dates, such as 18.06.2027 or 18 JUN 2027.
The third point is where Gulf residents can get caught. A Saudi iqama with Hijri dates only, or a card with Arabic text only, may not satisfy the officer. Check your card against the list before you book. If you live in Saudi Arabia, our guide to checking iqama validity and exit re-entry shows how to confirm the expiry date, and you also need an exit re-entry visa to return.
| Your situation | Armenia entry | What to carry |
|---|---|---|
| Pakistani passport, UAE residence 8 months left | Visa free, up to 180 days a year | Passport, Emirates ID card |
| Pakistani passport, iqama 4 months left | Not covered | Renew first or apply by invitation |
| Pakistani passport, Schengen residence card | Visa free, up to 180 days a year | Passport, residence card |
| Pakistani passport, US green card | Visa free, up to 180 days a year | Passport, green card |
| Pakistani passport, living in Pakistan | Visa only on invitation | Invitation, consular fee receipt |
A Pakistani living in Pakistan needs an invitation from Armenia
Armenia's invitation only list includes Pakistan. The ministry says citizens of these countries can get an Armenian visa only on invitation and only at Armenian embassies or consulates. That rules out a simple online tourist e-visa for most people applying from Pakistan.
The invitation is filed in Armenia, not by you. The ministry names who can file it:
- Companies and other legal entities registered in Armenia
- Armenian government agencies and local bodies
- Embassies, consulates and international organisations accredited in Armenia
- Individuals, who file with the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs
Organisations submit invitations through the e-request.am portal. The documents are an invitation on letterhead, signed and sealed, a copy of the invited person's passport, a visa application form and a receipt for the consular fee. The ministry states the consular fee as AMD 5,000.

Visas last up to 120 days and can be extended by 60
The ministry says Armenian visas are issued for a maximum of 120 days, with an extension of another 60 days possible. Extensions are handled by the Migration and Citizenship Service in Armenia, and you must give a reason for staying longer. The visa free stay under the residence permit rule is counted differently, as up to 180 days in one year.
The ministry also notes that the invitation requirement does not apply to citizens of these countries who are of Armenian nationality. That is a narrow case and will not cover most Pakistani travellers.
Plan the trip around the rules you cannot fix at the airport
Most refusals at a border come from documents, not from the visa rule itself. Before you fly to Yerevan:
- Count six months forward from your arrival date and compare it with the expiry on your residence card.
- Check that the card shows your name, nationality, birth date and validity in Latin letters and Gregorian dates.
- Carry the physical card, not a photo of it.
- Make sure you can return home: Saudi residents need an exit re-entry visa before they leave.
- Travel from your country of residence if you can, so the airline sees your residence status at check in.
If you fly out of Pakistan instead, FIA immigration may ask for proof that you can enter Armenia. Our guide to checking a foreign visa before flying from Pakistan lists the papers FIA looks at. Pakistanis comparing short trips in the region can also read our Georgia e-visa guide and our Kyrgyzstan visa guide, which also gives Gulf residents an easier route.
What we could not confirm
The ministry's e-visa portal at evisa.mfa.am did not load its content when we opened it, so we could not see whether it offers any e-visa category to Pakistani passports outside the invitation route. We also could not confirm how the AMD 5,000 consular fee converts in Pakistani rupees on the day you pay, because the ministry gives the fee only in drams. For an individual case, the ministry's visa desk is at visa@mfa.am, and it says status questions without a passport number cannot be answered.
Common questions
Is Armenia visa free for Pakistanis?
Only for Pakistanis who hold a valid residence permit from the US, an EU or Schengen country, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain, from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027. Everyone else needs a visa.
Can a Pakistani in Dubai go to Armenia without a visa?
Yes, if the UAE residence is valid for at least six months from the day you enter Armenia and you carry the physical Emirates ID or residence sticker.
How long can I stay in Armenia under the residence permit rule?
Up to 180 days within a one year period, according to the ministry.
Can a Pakistani living in Pakistan get an Armenia e-visa?
Pakistan is on Armenia's invitation only list, so a Pakistani living in Pakistan can get a visa only on an invitation and only through an Armenian embassy or consulate.
How much is the Armenian visa fee by invitation?
The ministry lists the consular fee for the invitation as AMD 5,000, paid at an Armenian bank or online through the state payments portal.
Does an iqama with Hijri dates work at the Armenian border?
The ministry says officers may recognise a permit that shows its validity in Gregorian dates and Latin script. A card with only Hijri dates may not be accepted, so carry proof of the Gregorian expiry.
