On the official start list, Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage has the best 2026 season mark in the final, 92.62m. Arshad Nadeem has the best lifetime mark, 92.97m, but his listed 2026 season best is 78.63m. Two Indians, Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh, are next on season form.

That gap needs care. A season best in a start list only counts the marks the system has on record. It does not tell you how fit a thrower is on the day. His 92.97m from Paris is still the Asian record.

Still, the numbers are what they are. Pathirage, who is 23, throws first. If he opens near 90m, everyone after him, Arshad included, has to chase from the first round.

Neeraj Chopra is not in the final. India entered Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh, and neither has thrown further than 87.68m according to the list. So Monday is not an Arshad against Neeraj final.

Fourteen throwers were entered in the men's javelin, and all 14 are on the final start list. The two qualifying groups were set for Saturday 26 September at 7:05 am and 8:08 am PKT, but the official system has published no marks from them.

So we cannot tell you what Arshad threw in qualifying, or whether the groups were held at all. The start list is the only official word, and it has both Pakistanis in.

The final's settings in the official data list a cut to the best eight. Throwers who miss that cut stop early, so a strong opening round matters for Yasir in particular.

Ansar Abbas opens the long jump final at 4:00 pm PKT

Pakistan have a second athlete in a final on Monday. Ansar Abbas is first to jump in the men's long jump final at 4:00 pm PKT, in the same stadium, 15 minutes before the javelin starts. He qualified 12th of 12 with 7.28m.

His 7.28m on Sunday was a personal best. The qualifying list showed his best as 7.06m. Hong Kong's Wong Pak Hang also jumped 7.28m but was not listed as a qualifier.

A medal would be a huge surprise. Eleven of the 12 finalists have personal bests of 7.86m or more, led by China's Shi Yuhao at 8.43m and India's Murali Sreeshankar at 8.41m. But a final is a new start, and Ansar is already past what his record said he could do.
