Pakistan at Asian Games 2026: 4 Bronze Medals, 33rd on the Table

Pakistan have four bronze medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, and no gold or silver yet. That puts Pakistan 33rd on the official medal table on Sunday evening, level with Cambodia. Two of the four bronze medals came in men's squash this week.

We read every medal, score and time on this page in the official Asian Games results system at about 8:15 pm PKT on Sunday 27 September 2026. Japan is four hours ahead of Pakistan, so we took four hours off each Japan time. This update covers Pakistan's results from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September.

Pakistan have four bronze medals and sit 33rd on the Asian Games table

Pakistan's Asian Games 2026 medal tally is four bronze: Asim Khan in mixed martial arts, the women's cricket team, and squash players Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan. The official table ranks Pakistan 33rd, tied with Cambodia, out of 39 teams with a medal.

The top of the table is not close. China lead with 119 gold and 205 medals in all. Japan are second with 37 gold, and Korea third with 21. India are 12th with 4 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze.

Ranking is by gold first, so on Sunday's table a single gold medal would lift Pakistan from 33rd to 24th. Nine teams sit above Pakistan without any gold, because each of them has at least one silver. That is why Monday's javelin final matters so much.

Squash gave Pakistan two bronze medals, and Noor Zaman won the all-Pakistan play-off

Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan both reached the men's singles semi-finals, which guaranteed each of them a bronze medal. Both lost their semi-finals 3-0 on Saturday. On Sunday morning Zaman then beat Irfan 3-0 in a listed play-off for third and fourth place.

1. Friday 25 September, quarter-finals: Irfan beat Veer Chotrani of India 3-1 (6-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-3). Zaman beat Henry Leung of Hong Kong, China 3-1 (11-7, 11-6, 3-11, 11-4).
2. Saturday 26 September, semi-finals: Irfan lost to Abhay Singh of India 3-0 (3-11, 10-12, 6-11). Zaman lost to Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia 3-0 (7-11, 2-11, 4-11).
3. Sunday 27 September, 8:45 am PKT: Zaman beat Irfan 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 13-11) in the "Men's Singles Final 3/4 play off".
4. Sunday 27 September, gold medal match: Ng Eain Yow beat Abhay Singh 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, 11-5).

The play-off is a puzzle. The official medal list still credits both Pakistanis with bronze after it, so the result did not take a medal away from Irfan. We report both facts as the system shows them.

The mixed doubles pair of M. Khan and Mehwish Ali went out in the quarter-finals on Friday, losing 2-0 (6-11, 7-11) to Toby Tse and Lai Cheuk Nam of Hong Kong, China. The semi-final day is covered in more detail in Pakistan's two squash bronze medals.

Hockey, boxing and badminton results went against Pakistan on 25 and 26 September

Pakistan lost 5-4 to Malaysia in hockey on Saturday, the only defeat in Pool B so far. Both boxers who fought on Saturday lost in the round of 16. Badminton ended for Pakistan with three first or second round defeats.

The hockey loss hurts, but it did not end anything. Pakistan still sit second in Pool B, level on points with China, before Monday's last game against Oman. The goals, the penalty corners and the semi-final maths are in Pakistan hockey at the Asian Games.

Volleyball, tennis and athletics gave Pakistan wins on Sunday 27 September

Sunday brought Pakistan three positive results. The men's volleyball team beat Kazakhstan 3-1 in Pool A. Aqeel Khan and Muhammad Shoaib won their first tennis doubles match. And long jumper Ansar Abbas took the last place in Monday's final.

The volleyball match lasted 1 hour 26 minutes in Okazaki. Pakistan won the first two sets, lost the third 17-25, then closed it out 25-20. Uzbekistan are next on Monday at 9:00 am PKT, and Japan on Tuesday at 3:20 pm.

Ansar Abbas jumped 7.28m in qualifying Group B. That was 7th in his group and the 12th and last qualifying place overall. The official start list for the final now shows 7.28m as his personal best, up from the 7.06m listed before Sunday.

The rest of Sunday was harder. Muzammil Murtaza lost 6-3, 6-2 to Zaid Al-Mashni of Jordan. Ushna Suhail lost 6-1, 6-0 to Yuliya Putintseva of Kazakhstan, and Mahin Aftab Qureshi lost 6-1, 6-1 to Patcharin Cheapchandej of Thailand. Both mixed doubles pairs also lost to Kazakh teams.

In shooting, Rabia Kabir scored 278 in the precision stage of the women's 25m pistol, 41st of 45. The official list marks two other Pakistani shooters, Muhammad Uzman and Muhammad Farrukh Nadeem, as did not start in their events this week. It gives no reason.

Pakistan's next medal chances come on Monday 28 September

Monday 28 September is Pakistan's best chance so far of a first gold. Arshad Nadeem throws in the men's javelin final at 4:15 pm PKT. Cricket, hockey and both squash teams also play, and Ansar Abbas jumps in the long jump final at 4:00 pm.
