Pakistan Win Two Squash Bronze Medals at Asian Games, Hockey Lose 5-4 to Malaysia
Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan take squash bronze, hockey lose 5-4 to Malaysia, and Pakistan's cricketers face Hong Kong on Monday 28 September at 5 am PKT.

Pakistan won two more bronze medals at the 2026 Asian Games on Saturday 26 September, both in men's squash, taking the country's total to four bronze. Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan lost their singles semi-finals 3-0. The hockey team lost for the first time, 5-4 to Malaysia.
The men's cricket team now knows its opponent. Pakistan play Hong Kong, China in Quarter-final 1 on Monday 28 September at 5:00 am PKT.
We read every result, time and medal on this page in the official Asian Games results system at about 3:45 pm PKT on 26 September 2026. All times are Pakistan Standard Time, four hours behind Japan.
Both Pakistani squash players lost their semi-finals and take bronze
Muhammad Irfan lost 3-0 to India's Abhay Singh at 10:45 am, and Noor Zaman lost 3-0 to Malaysia's Ng Eain Yow at 12:15 pm. The official medal list now credits both of them with a men's singles bronze.
That is a solid result for two players born in 2004. Neither had dropped more than a game in any round before Saturday. Both won their quarter-finals 3-1 on Friday, Irfan against India's Veer Chotrani and Zaman against Henry Leung of Hong Kong.

One thing in the official schedule is odd, and we are not going to guess at it. The schedule still lists a "3/4 play off" between Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan on Sunday 27 September at 8:45 am. But the official medal standings already count a bronze for each of them. The gold medal match, Ng Eain Yow against Abhay Singh, is on Sunday at 12:00 noon.
Pakistan now have four bronze medals and sit joint 32nd
The official medal standings on 26 September show Pakistan on 0 gold, 0 silver and 4 bronze. Three came from men's events and one from women's. Pakistan are joint 32nd with Cambodia, which also has four bronze.
| Sport and event | Athlete or team | Date | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mixed martial arts, men's modern minus 60kg | Asim Khan | 21 September | Bronze |
| Cricket, women's team | Pakistan women | 22 September | Bronze, beat Bangladesh by 31 runs |
| Squash, men's singles | Muhammad Irfan | 26 September | Bronze, lost semi-final 3-0 |
| Squash, men's singles | Noor Zaman | 26 September | Bronze, lost semi-final 3-0 |
For context, Pakistan left the 2022 Games in Hangzhou with one silver and two bronze. This year's four medals already beat that count, though not the colour. The best chances of a gold are still ahead, in javelin and hockey.
Hockey lost 5-4 to Malaysia and play Oman for a semi-final place
Malaysia beat Pakistan 5-4 in Pool B at 9:00 am on Saturday, Pakistan's first defeat of the Games. Pakistan stay on 9 points from four games, three behind Malaysia. They play Oman on Monday 28 September at 11:00 am.
Before Saturday, Pakistan had won all three pool games without much trouble: 9-0 against Thailand, 5-1 against Uzbekistan and 3-0 against China. Malaysia have now won all four of theirs, with 29 goals scored and 4 conceded.

China are the team to watch. They had 6 points and were leading Uzbekistan 2-1 when we checked, and they play Malaysia on Monday morning. Pakistan beat China 3-0 on 24 September, which should count if the two finish level, but we could not find the tie-break rules in the official system. The simple route is to beat Oman.
The official schedule has semi-finals on Thursday 1 October at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm, and the bronze and gold medal matches on Saturday 3 October at the same times.
Men's cricket play Hong Kong in Monday's quarter-final

Arshad Nadeem's javelin final is on Monday at 4:15 pm
The men's javelin final is on Monday 28 September at 4:15 pm PKT, at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir are both entered. The official system had not published qualification results or the final's start list when we checked on Saturday afternoon.
Qualification was scheduled for Saturday morning in two groups, at 7:05 am and 8:08 am. At 3:45 pm PKT both groups were still shown as "Planned", with no marks recorded. We cannot tell from the official system whether qualification took place, so we are not reporting a qualifying mark for either Pakistani.
The official records table for the final lists Arshad as the Asian record holder, with 92.97 metres from the Paris Olympics in 2024. The Asian Games record is 89.15 metres, set by China's Zhao Qinggang in 2014.

Boxing ended on Saturday for two more Pakistanis

Earlier in the week Sumama Rehman went out of the men's 55kg and Maria out of the women's 51kg, and the official schedule shows no Pakistani boxer left in the competition.
Where to follow the rest of Pakistan's Games

The men face the Philippines at 8:00 am and Kuwait at 1:30 pm, and the women play Hong Kong, China at 6:00 am and Mongolia at 11:30 am.
Channels, the Tamasha app and the full fixture list are in how to watch Pakistan at the Asian Games, and Friday's results are in the medal round-up from 25 September. If you stream on a phone, it is worth knowing how to check remaining Jazz MBs before a 60 minute hockey match.
