Pakistan have two bronze medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, and a third medal is now certain. Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan both won their squash quarter-finals on Friday 25 September, so a Pakistani will finish on the men's singles podium. Arshad Nadeem throws in the javelin final on Monday 28 September at 4:15 pm PKT.

Pakistan's two bronze medals came in women's cricket and mixed martial arts
The official medal list for Pakistan shows two entries. Asim Khan won bronze in the men's modern mixed martial arts minus 60kg event on 21 September. The women's cricket team won bronze on 22 September by beating Bangladesh by 31 runs.

The women's run was short and sharp. They beat Thailand in the quarter-final on 17 September, scoring 92/7 against Thailand's 91/4. They then lost the semi-final to Sri Lanka on 20 September, when Sri Lanka chased 178 after Pakistan made 177/4.
The bronze match was won with the bat late and the ball early. Fatima Sana is reported to have scored 45 from 30 balls, and Umm-e-Hani to have taken 3 wickets for 10 runs. The official scorecard we read confirms the margin and the totals, but it does not show individual figures in a form we could check. The medal is widely reported as the team's first since 2014.
A squash medal is certain because both Pakistanis reached the semi-finals
Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan are in different semi-finals on Saturday 26 September. Whatever happens, at least one Pakistani will win a men's singles medal. If either wins his semi-final, Pakistan gets at least silver.
Both won 3-1 on Friday. Irfan, listed in the official results as Muhammad Irfan, beat India's Veer Chotrani. Noor Zaman beat Henry Leung of Hong Kong. Neither dropped a game in the two rounds before that.
Here is why the medal is safe. The official schedule lists a third place play-off on Sunday 27 September at 8:45 am, followed by the gold medal match at 12:00 noon.
- Irfan plays India's Abhay Singh at 10:45 am on Saturday.
- Noor Zaman plays Ng Eain Yow of Malaysia at 12:15 pm on Saturday.
- If both lose, the two of them are the losing semi-finalists, so the bronze is Pakistan's either way.
- If one wins, he plays for gold on Sunday and Pakistan has at least silver.
- If both win, the men's singles final on Sunday is an all-Pakistan match.
The squash medal will not show in the official standings until it is awarded on Sunday. So a count of "3 medals" before then is a forecast, not a result.
No men's cricket bronze has been won, whatever you may have read
Some posts are crediting Pakistan's men with a cricket bronze. The official results show no men's cricket medal has been awarded to anyone yet. The only cricket bronze Pakistan hold is the women's one, won against Bangladesh on 22 September.
The mix-up is easy to make. A line like "Pakistan beat Bangladesh to win bronze" does not always say which team. But the men's competition has not reached its medal stage. Pakistan's men enter directly at Quarter-final 1 on Monday 28 September at 5:00 am, at Korogi Athletic Park, with the opponent still to come from the preliminary groups.
The men's semi-finals are on 1 October at 5:00 am and 9:30 am. The bronze and gold medal matches are on 3 October at the same two times. Fans already planning around the home Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20 series should note these are separate fixtures with a different squad.
Pakistan's hockey team is unbeaten and plays Malaysia for top spot on Saturday
Pakistan have won all three Pool B games and have 9 points, with 17 goals scored and 1 conceded. Malaysia also have 9 points from three wins. The two meet on Saturday 26 September at 9:00 am to decide who tops the pool.
The latest win came on Thursday, 3-0 against China. Before that, Pakistan beat Thailand 9-0 on 20 September and Uzbekistan 5-1 on 22 September. Malaysia's record is even more lopsided, 24 goals for and none against, though against weaker sides.
The official schedule has semi-finals on 1 October and a separate 5th to 8th place round, which points to the top two in each pool going through. China sit third on 6 points. Pakistan's last pool game is against Oman on Monday 28 September at 11:00 am. The hockey semi-finals are at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm on 1 October, and the medal matches at the same times on 3 October.

Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir are both entered in the men's javelin. Qualification is on Saturday 26 September in two groups, at 7:05 am and 8:08 am. The final is on Monday 28 September at 4:15 pm, at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
The group lists had not been published when we checked, so we cannot yet say which group each Pakistani is in. The official records table lists Arshad as the Asian record holder, with 92.97 metres from Paris in 2024. The Asian Games record is 89.15 metres, set by China's Zhao Qinggang at Incheon in 2014.

In squash mixed doubles, M. Khan and Mehwish Ali lost their quarter-final to Hong Kong on Friday morning. Boxer Sumama Rehman went out of the men's 55kg on 22 September. The fighting games esports team won two of three group matches but did not reach the knockout rounds.
