Pakistan at the Asian Games on Monday: Cricket, Hockey and Arshad Nadeem's Javelin Final
Pakistan play Hong Kong in cricket at 5 am, Oman in hockey at 11 am, and Arshad Nadeem throws at 4:15 pm on 28 September. Times in PKT and the hockey maths.
Monday 28 September is Pakistan's biggest day of the 2026 Asian Games so far. The men's cricket team plays Hong Kong, China in a quarter-final at 5:00 am PKT. The hockey team plays Oman at 11:00 am for a semi-final place. Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir throw in the javelin final at 4:15 pm.
Both squash teams also start their pool games on Monday. Before that, Sunday 27 September brings the end of the men's singles squash, where Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan already hold bronze.
We read every time, result and entry list on this page in the official Asian Games results system at about 8:30 pm PKT on Saturday 26 September 2026. Japan is four hours ahead of Pakistan, so we took four hours off each Japan time. No Monday event had been played when we checked.
Pakistan's Monday at the Asian Games runs from 5 am to the evening
Pakistan have five team or individual events on Monday 28 September. Cricket starts at 5:00 am, the two squash teams play from 6:00 am, hockey faces Oman at 11:00 am, and the javelin final starts at 4:15 pm PKT.

That is a long day for anybody following from Pakistan. The early cricket start is the hard one. Set an alarm, because a T20 quarter-final can be over by 8:30 am.

Cricket: Pakistan play Hong Kong, China at 5 am in Quarter-final 1
Pakistan's men play Hong Kong, China in Quarter-final 1 on Monday 28 September at 5:00 am PKT, at Korogi Athletic Park. Pakistan skipped the group stage and start at the quarter-finals. A win means a semi-final on Thursday 1 October.
Hong Kong, China came through Group B. The official results show they lost to Malaysia, who chased 82 for the loss of two wickets, and then beat Oman by 41 runs, 121 to 80. Their third game, Malaysia against Oman, was cancelled.
Pakistan's 15-man squad in the official entry list includes Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Haider Ali, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas and Sufyan Moqim. This is not the side playing the home Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20 series, which is a separate squad.

Pakistan's women already won bronze in the cricket on 22 September. The men are the clear favourites on Monday, but a 20-over game against an Associate side is never a sure thing.
Hockey: Pakistan need a win over Oman and one other result
Pakistan sit second in Pool B on 9 points, level with China and three behind Malaysia. Only the top two reach the semi-finals. Beating Oman at 11:00 am, plus Malaysia avoiding defeat to China at 5:00 am, makes the semi-final certain.
We worked out the table below ourselves from the 12 official Pool B results, using 3 points for a win. The official system lists the results but not a table.

Pakistan beat Thailand 9-0, Uzbekistan 5-1 and China 3-0, then lost 5-4 to Malaysia on Saturday. Oman have lost all four games and scored twice. On paper, this is the easiest game of Pakistan's pool.
The order of Monday's games helps. China play Malaysia at 5:00 am, six hours before Pakistan start, so the team will know exactly what it needs. Here is how the scenarios work out, counting only points:
- Pakistan beat Oman and Malaysia beat or draw with China: Pakistan finish in the top two and reach the semi-final.
- Pakistan beat Oman and China beat Malaysia: Malaysia, China and Pakistan all finish on 12 points, and a tie-break decides the two places.
- Pakistan draw and Malaysia beat China: Pakistan finish second on 10 points, one ahead of China.
- Pakistan draw and China draw with Malaysia: Pakistan and China both finish on 10 points and a tie-break decides.
- Pakistan draw and China beat Malaysia: Pakistan finish third on 10 points and miss the semi-finals.
- Pakistan lose: they stay on 9 points and can only go through if Malaysia beat China and a tie-break with China goes their way.
We could not find the hockey tie-break rules in the official results system, so we are not going to guess how a three-way tie on 12 points would end. Pakistan's 3-0 win over China and their better goal difference would matter in most systems. The simple route is a clear win over Oman.
The semi-finals are on Thursday 1 October at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm PKT. The bronze and gold medal matches are on Saturday 3 October at the same times.
Javelin: Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir throw in the final at 4:15 pm
The men's javelin final is on Monday 28 September at 4:15 pm PKT, at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. The official entry list has 14 throwers, including Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir. This is Pakistan's clearest chance of a first gold.
The official records table for the final lists Arshad as the Asian record holder, with 92.97 metres from the Paris Olympics on 8 August 2024. The Asian Games record is 89.15 metres, set by China's Zhao Qinggang at Incheon in 2014. A throw near Arshad's best would break it.
India's entries in the official list are Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav. The other entries come from Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan, and each country has two throwers except Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait and Uzbekistan, with one each.
Qualification was scheduled for Saturday morning in two groups. When we checked at 8:30 pm on Saturday, the official system still showed both groups as "Planned" with no marks, and the final had no start list. We cannot tell from the system whether qualification took place, so we are not reporting a qualifying mark for either Pakistani.
Squash: singles medals finish Sunday and both teams start Monday
Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan already hold men's singles bronze. The official schedule still lists a 3/4 play-off between them on Sunday 27 September at 8:45 am PKT. The gold medal match, Ng Eain Yow against Abhay Singh, is at 12:00 noon.
Both Pakistanis lost their semi-finals 3-0 on Saturday, Irfan to India's Abhay Singh and Zaman to Malaysia's Ng Eain Yow. The official medal list now credits each of them with a bronze, and it dates both medals to Sunday at 8:45 am PKT, the same slot as the listed play-off. So Sunday's listing does not look like a match for a medal. Both men already have one. If the play-off is played, it is between two teammates born in 2004, which is a rare sight at a Games.
The team events start on Monday. Pakistan's men's team is Noor Zaman, Muhammad Irfan, Asim Khan and Nasir Iqbal. They play the Philippines at 8:00 am and Kuwait at 1:30 pm in a three-team Pool B. Men's quarter-finals are on Wednesday 30 September.
Pakistan's women's team is Sana Bahadar, Mahnoor Ali, Mehwish Ali and Sehrish Ali. They play Hong Kong, China at 6:00 am and Mongolia at 11:30 am on Monday, then Korea at 6:00 am on Tuesday.
Pakistan still have four bronze and no gold
The official medal standings on Saturday evening put Pakistan joint 33rd, with Cambodia, on four bronze medals and no gold or silver. Monday's javelin final and a possible hockey run are the two events most likely to change that.
The four bronze came from Asim Khan in mixed martial arts on 21 September, the women's cricket team on 22 September, and Noor Zaman and Muhammad Irfan in squash. Earlier results are in the round-up of Pakistan's Asian Games medals so far.
China lead the table with 107 gold, ahead of Japan on 31 and Korea on 16. India are 10th with 4 gold. The Games end on 4 October.
