BISE Rawalpindi has published 16 rules for the digital answer copy in the Computer Science Part-I paper of the Inter 2nd Annual Exam 2026. The paper is on Monday 23 November. Write only inside the margins, fill one MCQ bubble with a blue or black pen, and do not use whitener. No extra sheets are given.

A digital answer copy is still paper. You write on it with a pen as usual. After the exam it goes through a scanner, and the examiner marks the scanned pages on a computer screen. That one change is why the old habits, such as writing in the margin or asking for one more sheet, can now cost marks.

We read the board's notice, "SOPs for Candidates", in English and Urdu on biserawalpindi.edu.pk. Here is what it means for you, in plain words.

Anything outside the margins will not be marked

The scanner reads only the area inside the margins of each page. The notice says writing outside the margins, or on the top and bottom edges, will not be scanned and will not be marked. So a neat answer in the wrong place is the same as no answer.

Get used to this before the exam. Draw a margin on your practice sheets, then answer a full past paper inside it. If your last lines tend to run along the edge of a page, fix that first.

Main rules for the BISE Rawalpindi Computer Science digital answer copy in 2026

An MCQ bubble cannot be changed once you fill it

You must fill exactly one bubble for each MCQ, completely and darkly, with a blue or black pen, so the letter inside is covered. You cannot change an answer after that. Cutting, overwriting, whitener or a second bubble all count as multiple answers, and that question gets zero.

A tick, a cross, a circle, a dot or a half-filled bubble is also wrong under the notice. So work out your answer first, and fill the bubble only when you are sure. No pencil first, because a lead pencil is not on the allowed list.

You do thisResult under the notice
Fill one bubble fully with blue or black penCorrect way
Tick, cross, circle, dot or half-fillNot allowed
Fill two bubblesMultiple answers, zero marks
Cut, overwrite or use whitener on a bubbleMultiple answers, zero marks
Write around the bubblesNot allowed

The 16 rules fall into four simple groups

The 16 rules cover checking the copy, using the pen, placing your answers and handing the copy back. Read them in this order on exam day. The first job comes before you write a single word: check that the copy itself is complete and undamaged.

  1. Check that all pages are there, in the right order, correctly printed and not torn.
  2. Check that the barcode and QR code on every page are clear. If not, tell the invigilator and get a new copy.
  3. Write your roll number and details only in the boxes on the title page, and nowhere else.
  4. Do not write, tick or scratch on the barcode or QR code, or cover it with ink, fluid, tape or stickers.
  5. Write only inside the margins of each page.
  6. Do not fold, crease, roll, tear or cut a page, remove the staple or add a page. Leave unused pages as they are.
  7. Use only a blue or black ink pen. No red or green ink, highlighters, markers or smudging gel pens.
  8. Fill one MCQ bubble completely. You cannot change it later.
  9. Do not use whitener or erasable ink. To cancel a wrong answer, draw one straight line through it.
  10. Answer each question only in its own marked area.
  11. Plan your answers to fit, because no extra sheet will be attached.
  12. Do rough work only in the space marked for it.
  13. Do not press hard. Ink that shows through makes the other side hard to read after scanning.
  14. Keep the copy clean and dry, away from water, sweat, food and other liquids.
  15. Write neatly, since writing the examiner cannot read may lose marks. Write no message or phone number for the examiner.
  16. Hand the copy to the invigilator at the end, even if it is blank. Do not take it out of the hall.

That list follows the board's own order, in shorter words. We split its first rule in two, and joined its rules on neat writing and on messages to the examiner, so the count stays at 16.

Five checks for students before starting the digital Computer Science answer copy

Five habits from your practice papers will need to change

These five habits are normal on an ordinary answer sheet, and each one breaks a rule on a digital copy. You have about two weeks before 23 November to drop them. Practise on ruled sheets with a drawn margin, and time yourself as well.

Old habitWhat to do now
Asking for an extra sheetPlan the length, since no extra sheet is attached
Writing notes in the marginUse only the rough work space
Whitener on a mistakeDraw one straight line through it
Writing your name on inner pagesTitle page boxes only
Heavy pressure with a dark gel penLight hand, ordinary blue or black ink

A blue ball pen with thin lines is a safe choice under these rules, and a smudging gel pen is not. Bring two.

Other Punjab boards are moving the same way

Rawalpindi is not alone, though each board sets its own details. BISE Multan posted a specimen answer sheet for Computer Science on 28 October. BISE Lahore is moving to on-screen marking for four Inter subjects, including Computer Science, and has run training for it.

The paper falls on the same day at several boards. Lahore and Gujranwala also have Computer Science Part-I on Monday 23 November, First Group in the morning and Second Group in the evening. The Rawalpindi timetable is in our page on the revised Rawalpindi date sheet, and the Gujranwala one is in the BISE Gujranwala Inter 2nd Annual date sheet.

If you sit at another board, follow that board's notice first. If it has none, these 16 rules are still a safe way to prepare, because they follow from how a scanner works.

Common questions

What is a digital answer copy in the Computer Science paper?

It is a printed answer copy with a barcode and QR code. You write with a pen, it is scanned, and the examiner marks it on a screen.

Can I change an MCQ answer on the digital copy?

No. The notice says an answer cannot be changed once a bubble is filled, and any cutting or second bubble gives zero.

Can I ask for an extra sheet?

No. The notice says no extra or supplementary sheet will be attached.

Which pen can I use?

Only a blue or black ink pen. Red or green ink, highlighters, markers and smudging gel pens are not allowed.

How do I cancel a wrong written answer?

Draw a single straight line through it. Do not use whitener or erasable ink.

Do these rules apply to BISE Lahore or Multan students?

This notice is from BISE Rawalpindi. Follow your own board's notice, and use these rules for practice.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 7 November 2026. We read the BISE Rawalpindi SOPs for candidates and the BISE Multan specimen notice. We did not open the specimen sheet itself, which sits on an outside file link.
