How to Fix a Mistake on Your Punjab Board Result Card or Certificate

Two different problems, two different desks. If the marks look wrong, you apply for rechecking, and that window closes 15 days after the result is declared. If your name, father's name or date of birth is wrong, that is a Punjab board result card correction, and it needs a separate application, a bank challan, documents and an interview at the board office. BISE Lahore charges Rs 5,000 for a correction inside two years and Rs 10,000 after ten.

Students mix these two up every result day, pay the wrong challan, and lose weeks.

The 12th class result for all nine Punjab boards comes at 10:00 today. We read the BISE Lahore e-correction portal at correction.biselahore.com, the BISE Gujranwala online correction form and its live challan fee list at services.bisegrw.edu.pk, and the BISE Multan fee structure and FAQ pages, between 05:00 and 05:20 PKT on 23 September 2026. Every figure below comes from one of those board pages.

Marks problems and particulars problems go to different desks

A marks problem means the total, a missing subject or an absent entry. A particulars problem means the spelling of your name, your father's name or your date of birth. Rechecking fixes the first. A correction application fixes the second. Neither one fixes the other.

Rechecking checks the addition, it does not re-mark your paper

Rechecking confirms that every answer was marked, that no page was skipped and that the totals were added correctly. Nobody grades your answers again. BISE Multan states the window in its own FAQ: apply within 15 days of the result, after depositing the fee in HBL.

BISE Gujranwala's challan system prices it at Rs 1,500 for rechecking of each answer book. That is per paper, so four subjects is Rs 6,000. Pick the papers where the mark genuinely does not match what you wrote, not all of them.

At 05:15 PKT today the BISE Multan online rechecking form still listed only the matric 2026 papers. Inter papers are added after the inter result is declared, so check the form again in the afternoon rather than assuming it is broken. If the board site itself will not load, that is a separate and very common result day problem, and the boards whose result pages fail under load are worth knowing before you start.

A missing subject or a wrong absent entry is a record problem

If a subject is missing from your card, or you are shown absent in a paper you actually sat, rechecking is the wrong form. Nothing was mis-added. The answer book was never tied to your roll number, and that is fixed by the board's record branch, not by a re-count.

The most common cause is a wrong roll number written on the answer book. Both boards carry a fee head for exactly this: BISE Gujranwala charges Rs 500 for correction of a wrong roll number on each answer book, and BISE Multan lists Rs 1,500 for a wrong roll number on an answer sheet.

Go to the board office in person with your roll number slip, your admission form receipt and the printed result card. We could not find a published online route for this at any Punjab board, and we could not verify a deadline for it, so treat it as urgent and go the same week.

A withheld result and an unfair means case are not corrections

Neither one is a mistake on the card, so no correction form applies. A withheld result means the board is holding your result until a missing formality is completed. An unfair means case means a decision is pending against you, and that route is a hearing.

BISE Multan lists the usual reasons for a withheld result on its own FAQ page: a missing No Objection Certificate from another board, missing practical or attendance certificates, incomplete attestation of the admission form, a missing photo, or unpaid board fees. The result is not declared until those are supplied. Your college, not you, usually holds the paperwork.

An unfair means case is decided by the board's discipline committee, and you are called to appear. BISE Multan publishes an appeal fee of Rs 10,000 after a UMC decision under its discipline branch. Its rules also confirm that a candidate whose unfair means punishment was completed in the annual examination may sit the supplementary examination, so a UMC case does not automatically end the year.

Correcting a name or date of birth means a committee and an interview

Both boards we read take the application online, then call you in person. BISE Lahore runs a dedicated portal at correction.biselahore.com with three separate forms for name, father's name and date of birth. BISE Gujranwala runs one combined form. Both end with a committee appearance.

1. Open the board's correction portal and pick the exact correction type. Lahore separates name, father's name and date of birth. Gujranwala also separates a full change from a spelling correction, and the spelling correction is cheaper.
2. Download the challan for that fee head and pay it. Gujranwala accepts HBL, Easypaisa, JazzCash, HBL Konnect and 1Bill. Write the challan number on the form exactly, because the application is only processed after the fee is verified.
3. Fill the form with your matric roll number, year and session, your inter roll number and year, your CNIC or B-Form number and your father's CNIC.
4. Pick your committee date. BISE Lahore fixes date of birth hearings for Monday and Tuesday, and name or father's name hearings for Wednesday and Thursday.
5. Download the call letter from the portal after the fee clears, then appear in person on that date with the original documents listed on it.

One detail catches students out. BISE Gujranwala asks for the date of the advertisement you placed in a newspaper, and BISE Lahore records the newspaper name and date on its name and father's name forms. A public notice in a newspaper is part of a name change at both boards. The date of birth form does not ask for it.

Corrections are applied to the matric record first. The Gujranwala form asks whether the correction is for matric only or for matric and inter both, because your inter particulars were copied from your matric registration. Fix it once at the right level or you will pay twice.

Correction fees rise the longer you wait

Every board prices corrections in four time brackets counted from the year you passed. The gap between a correction inside two years and one after ten years is roughly double. The two boards also do not charge the same amount, so use your own board's challan page.

Gujranwala also sells two things worth knowing about. Rs 3,000 convenes an urgent committee meeting for any correction, and Rs 100 buys the revised result card or revised certificate once the correction is approved. BISE Multan prices that second certificate at Rs 100 ordinary and Rs 505 urgent, and charges Rs 2,400 as an appeal case fee for a name, father's name or date of birth decision.

There is a quieter deadline too. BISE Lahore's own correction order warns that if the record is not submitted within one year, the case is closed in the office and has to be submitted again with the fee paid over. BISE Multan puts a 90 day expiry on a deposited fee. Pay the challan when you are ready to go, not months early.

The documents depend on which particular is wrong

Each correction type has its own document list, and the boards publish them on the forms themselves. Originals are examined by the committee at your interview, not just uploaded, so carry them. Photocopies alone will send you home with a second date.

For a candidate name correction, BISE Lahore asks for the father's and mother's CNIC cards, the candidate's birth certificate or B-Form or CNIC, and any other document supporting the claim. A B-Form is the usual proof for anyone without a CNIC yet.

For a father's name correction it asks for the father's and mother's CNIC cards plus a nikah nama, registry or utility bill, the CNIC or NADRA birth record of all family members, and the candidate's birth certificate, B-Form or CNIC.

For a date of birth correction it asks for the original birth register entry from the union council, town committee or municipal committee, the original admission and withdrawal register of the primary or high school, and any other original document supporting the date. A birth certificate from the union council is the first document to collect if you do not already hold it. BISE Multan adds that if the high school record shows cutting and the committee is not satisfied, you will be sent back for the middle or primary school record.

We found no Punjab board page asking for an affidavit on stamp paper as a standard requirement. If an agent tells you one is compulsory, ask which board page says so.

The date of birth on your certificate is the one government jobs use

This is why a date of birth error is worth fixing now rather than at 28. The Punjab Public Service Commission states it plainly in its own FAQ: age is calculated from the date of birth given in the Secondary School Certificate, and that is taken as final.

PPSC adds the sentence that ends careers before they start: a candidate underage or overage by even one day is not eligible for a post it advertises. Your CNIC is accepted only if the matric certificate carries no date of birth.

Most people discover the error at a passport counter or on a job application, ten years later, in the Rs 10,000 bracket and with a committee that will want school records nobody can find. The correction is the same correction today, at half the fee, with your school still holding your admission and withdrawal register. Do it in the same month you get the certificate.

One more thing to check on the card itself. Punjab is moving to QR verified PDF result cards, and a digital card carries the same particulars as the paper one, so an error there is the same error and needs the same correction.

If the result was bad rather than wrong, that is a different article and a different set of choices, and the first 48 hours after a bad result matter more than the paperwork.

Common questions

Can I apply for a correction online at a Punjab board?

Yes at BISE Lahore and BISE Gujranwala. Lahore runs correction.biselahore.com and Gujranwala runs an online form on its services portal. Both still require you to appear in person before a committee with original documents on a fixed date.

How long do I have to apply for rechecking?

Fifteen days from the declaration of the result, according to BISE Multan's own FAQ. The fee is deposited in HBL, online or manually. BISE Gujranwala charges Rs 1,500 per answer book. After 15 days the chance is gone.

Is there a deadline for correcting a date of birth?

No closing date is published by either board we read. The fee simply rises with time, from Rs 5,000 inside two years to Rs 10,000 after ten at BISE Lahore. A correction requested twenty years later is still accepted, at the highest bracket.

What does result withheld mean on my result card?

The board is holding your result until a formality is completed. BISE Multan lists missing No Objection Certificates, practical or attendance certificates, incomplete attestation and unpaid board fees. Ask your college first, because the missing document is usually in their file, not yours.

Does rechecking change my grade?

Rarely. Rechecking verifies that every answer was marked and the totals added correctly. Your answers are not graded again, so marks move only when something was genuinely skipped or mis-added. Boards do not publish success rates for it.
