Canada's processing time for applications from Pakistan is 59 days for a visitor visa, 99 days for a super visa, 6 weeks for a study permit and 9 weeks for a work permit, in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) figures last updated on 29 October 2026. These are estimates based on recent cases, not promises, and IRCC refreshes them every week.

The number that applies to you depends on where you apply from, so a Pakistani in Dubai or Riyadh sees a different wait. Below you will find the full Pakistan list, the figures for Pakistanis applying from the Gulf and the UK, when the clock starts and stops, and what to do when your wait runs past the estimate. We read IRCC's processing times page and its published data on 31 October 2026.

Canada visa processing times from Pakistan, every category

IRCC's data for Pakistan, dated 29 October 2026, gives a figure for four common temporary applications. Two family categories show no usable figure. The visitor and super visa times are in days and the permits in weeks, exactly as IRCC lists them.

Application from PakistanIRCC processing timeRoughly in days
Visitor visa (applying outside Canada)59 days59
Super visa for parents and grandparents99 days99
Study permit6 weeks42
Work permit9 weeks63
Dependent childNo processing time availableNone

The day counts in the last column are our conversion of IRCC's weeks, so you can compare them side by side. A study permit is currently the fastest of the four from Pakistan.

The visitor visa wait has come down. When we read IRCC's file dated 22 September 2026 for the Canada visitor visa from Pakistan, it showed 78 days. The 29 October figure of 59 days is 19 days shorter, by our arithmetic.

Applying from the Gulf or the UK changes the wait

IRCC's tool asks for the country you applied from. So a Pakistani living in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar or the UK gets that country's figure. On 29 October 2026, a visitor visa from Saudi Arabia was 46 days, while from Qatar it was 60 days.

Do not plan a trip just to chase a shorter figure. The numbers reflect recent cases from each country, they change every week, and they say nothing about your chance of approval.

The clock starts when IRCC receives a complete application

IRCC says processing time starts when it receives a complete application, which for an online application is the day you submit it. It ends when a decision is made. The estimate includes the time to give biometrics, so a late biometrics visit eats into your own wait.

  • Incomplete files: a missing document can mean the clock never properly starts.
  • Biometrics: book the appointment as soon as you get the letter.
  • Not a maximum: IRCC says the times are not a maximum or a guarantee.
  • Weekly change: the tool says the figures are updated weekly, so the 29 October numbers will move.

How to check your own Canada processing time

IRCC's online tool gives the current figure for your exact case. It takes three answers: the type of application, the country you applied from, and the date you applied. Use it on the day you want the number, since the weekly update can shift the result.

  1. Open IRCC's Check processing times page on canada.ca.
  2. Choose the application type, such as Temporary residence.
  3. Pick the exact application, for example visitor visa or study permit.
  4. Choose the country you applied from.
  5. Enter your application date and press Get processing time.

What to do when your wait runs past IRCC's estimate

A wait longer than the posted figure is common and is not a refusal. IRCC's own page says the times are estimates. First check your online account for a request you missed, such as a document or biometrics letter. If nothing is pending on your side, contact IRCC with your application number.

If you want to see what an officer has written on your file, a free request under Canada's privacy law is possible, and the steps to get your Canada visa file notes from Pakistan cost nothing. For the forms and fees themselves, the steps for a Canada study permit from Pakistan and for the Canada super visa for parents list each document and fee.

One warning. Treat anyone in Pakistan who offers to "speed up" an IRCC decision for a fee with suspicion. Processing happens inside IRCC, and the Karachi Canada work visa scam shows how such promises end.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 31 October 2026. We read IRCC's Check processing times page on canada.ca (page date 30 October 2026) and the processing time data file the tool draws from, whose sections are each dated 29 October 2026. The figures for Pakistan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UK come from that file. The conversion of weeks to days is our arithmetic. We could not see a figure for every category, and the file gives none for refugee or citizenship cases from Pakistan that we could use.
