FPSC posts every General Recruitment result on fpsc.gov.pk under the Results menu. The first result is a merit list of pass and fail candidates, with no marks. Your test and interview marks come later, through the Online Marksheet on cp.fpsc.gov.pk, which needs your CNIC and date of birth.

That two-stage system confuses people every year. Somebody passes the test, sees their roll number in a PDF, and then waits weeks for any number at all. The marks are not hidden. FPSC simply releases them only once the whole case is finished. We read the Results pages on fpsc.gov.pk, the marksheet page, FPSC's FAQs and its General Instructions updated on 12 August 2026 to set out each stage.

The four stages of an FPSC result: merit list, shortlisting, interview, final result with marks

Check the FPSC merit list on fpsc.gov.pk

Open fpsc.gov.pk, go to the Results menu and choose Merit List. Lists are grouped by test phase, and each PDF is named with the case number and post. Find your case number from your online application, open the PDF and search it for your roll number.

  1. Find your case number. It is on your application and your admission certificate, in the shape F.4-97/2026-R.
  2. Open Results, then Merit List. The most recent block, posted on 14 September 2026, holds the lists for General Recruitment Test Phase-II/2026.
  3. Open the PDF for your case. File names start with the case number, for example F4_96_2026 for Librarian (Female).
  4. Search for your roll number. On a phone, use "Find in page". On a computer, press Ctrl and F.
  5. Note your position. The list is in merit order. Your place decides whether you are called for an interview.

The list shows "all pass and fail candidates in order of merit", in the words of FPSC's instructions. It does not show marks at this stage. That is FPSC's policy, not a fault on the site.

Steps to check an FPSC merit list by case number and roll number

Each FPSC Results page holds a different list

The Results menu has seven parts. Each answers a different question. Knowing which one to open saves time, because a pass on the merit list does not yet mean an interview call.

Page on fpsc.gov.pkWhat it tells you
Merit ListPass and fail candidates of a test, in merit order, without marks
Short ListingWho is called for document checks and interview
Documents RequiredWhat to bring to the document check
Nominations / AlternateWho FPSC has recommended for the post
Failure CasesCase numbers listed in a separate notice
Answer KeysAnswer keys, where FPSC has posted them
Results (Written/ Final)Written exam results and final results

Shortlisting moves fast. On 1 and 2 October 2026, FPSC posted shortlisting notices for posts such as Librarian (Male), Assistant Director and Assistant Engineer (Civil). If your case is on that page, expect an SMS with your date.

How many FPSC candidates get an interview call

FPSC calls only a set number of top candidates per post for document checks, one day before the interview. For most BS-16 and BS-17 posts it is five per post, or three per post on provincial quota posts when a case has more than two posts.

The full ratios, from paragraph 8 of the General Instructions:

  • BS-16 and BS-17: five per post for merit quota posts, and for provincial or regional quota posts when the case has two posts or fewer. Three per post for provincial or regional quota posts when the case has more than two.
  • BS-18 and BS-19: five per post.
  • BS-20: five per post, except head of department posts, where everyone who passes is called.
  • BS-21: everyone who passes is called.

FPSC calls this the Fast Track System. Your documents are checked the day before, and if they are in order you sit the interview the next day. Bring originals and two sets of attested copies. The domicile certificate must be in your own name. One in your father's or husband's name is rejected.

FPSC interview pass marks and the final merit

Every FPSC interview is out of 200 marks. The pass mark rises with the grade, from 101 for BS-16 and BS-17 to 141 for BS-21 and BS-22. The final merit adds your test and interview marks together.

Grade of postInterview marksPass mark
BS-16 and BS-17200101
BS-18200111
BS-19200121
BS-20200131
BS-21 and BS-22200141

Ties are settled in a fixed order. The higher interview mark wins first. If that is equal, the older candidate wins. After that come a higher degree in the field, then better grades in the required degree, then whoever finished it first.

Get your FPSC marks from the Online Marksheet

Your marks appear only after the case is final. Open the Online Marksheet, type your CNIC with dashes, pick your date of birth from the calendar and submit. It works only for cases on its "finalized" list.

The same page shows that list, with each case's number, post, ministry and finalisation date. If your case is not there, your marks are not out yet. Checking every day will not change that.

Two rules matter here. FPSC does not re-check or re-evaluate marks, under any circumstances. And it keeps OMR answer sheets for one year only, then destroys them. If you think a decision about you is wrong, the route is a representation within 30 days, not a request to re-mark.

Nominated candidates also get a letter by post. FPSC recommends names. The ministry or department then appoints, after checking documents, character and medical fitness. A nomination is close, but it is not yet a job.

Common questions

Why does the FPSC merit list not show my marks?

FPSC's policy is to show only merit order at the test stage. Test and interview marks are released after the case is finalised, through the Online Marksheet.

How do I find my FPSC case number?

It is on your online application and your admission certificate. It looks like F.4-97/2026-R.

How will FPSC tell me about my interview?

FPSC posts a public notice with names and roll numbers, then sends the date by SMS to the number in your application. Keep that number active.

Can I get my FPSC paper re-checked?

No. FPSC's instructions say re-evaluation or re-checking of marks will not be entertained under any circumstances.

What is the pass mark in an FPSC interview?

It depends on the grade: 101 out of 200 for BS-16 and BS-17, rising to 141 for BS-21 and BS-22.

Does an FPSC nomination mean I have the job?

Not yet. The appointing ministry still checks documents, character and medical fitness before it issues the appointment.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 2 October 2026. We read the Merit List and Short Listing pages on fpsc.gov.pk, the Online Marksheet page on cp.fpsc.gov.pk, FPSC's FAQs, and paragraphs 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14 of the FPSC General Instructions updated on 12 August 2026. Some Results sections did not load for us outside a browser, so we describe them from the menu titles only. We could not open a marksheet, since that needs a real candidate's CNIC and date of birth.
