Short answer: The official petrol and diesel price in Pakistan is the one on OGRA's daily sheet. Open ogra.org.pk, go to Prices, then Price Publications, and pick the sheet with the latest "Effective Dated" date. The sheet effective 10 October 2026 puts petrol at Rs 398.30 a litre and high speed diesel at Rs 396.24.

Pump owners, WhatsApp forwards and news ticker screens all quote a price. They do not always agree. The only record that matters is the regulator's own sheet, and it takes about three minutes to read.

We opened OGRA's Price Publications page on 12 October 2026 and read the sheet effective 10 October. Here is how to find a sheet, what each line means, and what to do when your pump charges something different.

Find the sheet in three clicks

OGRA, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, posts every daily price notice as a PDF. They are grouped by month. The page is the one under Prices, Price Publications, on the regulator's own site.

  1. Open ogra.org.pk and choose Prices from the menu.
  2. Choose Price Publications. The list opens with "Period October 2026" at the top.
  3. Pick the entry with the latest "Effective Dated" date.
  4. Open the English PDF. It has two pages, petrol first and diesel second.
  5. Read the last line on each page, the total price.
Five steps to find OGRA's daily petrol and diesel price sheet on its Price Publications page

The Petroleum Division also lists daily prices on its own site under Petroleum Prices. We found it listing "Prices of Petroleum Products" for 6, 7, 8 and 9 October and for 3rd to 5th October together. If the two ever differ, treat the Division's notification as the legal notice.

A sheet can cover more than one day

The sheets in OGRA's October list are dated 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 October. There is no sheet dated 4, 5, 11 or 12 October. The Petroleum Division shows the 3 October sheet as covering 3rd to 5th October, and the 10 October sheet was reported as running to 12 October.

That means the weekend price sits on the Friday or Saturday sheet. If you look for a Sunday sheet and do not find one, you have not missed it. The price from the last sheet remains in force until a new one takes effect.

The lines that matter on the sheet

Each page is a stack of lines from the world price down to the pump price, with a short formula note beside each. The 10 October petrol page builds Rs 398.30 in four blocks: the landed cost, the import price with duty, the margins, and the levies.

Block on the petrol pageRs a litre, 10 October
Petrol cost at Karachi port261.11
Customs duty24.94
Ex-refinery or import price287.52
Freight margin, oil company margin, dealer margin7.93, 7.87 and 9.98
Price before levies313.30
Petroleum levy plus climate support levy80.00 plus 5.00
Total petrol price398.30

The sums check out. 313.30 plus 80 plus 5 gives 398.30, and sales tax is shown as zero. The exchange rate adjustment of Rs 1.47 sits in the import price. Our note on how Pakistan sets the petrol price every day walks through each block.

Petrol price of Rs 398.30 a litre on OGRA's sheet effective 10 October 2026

Two footnotes explain most pump disputes

The sheet says the total is "excl. Secondary Freight". Secondary freight is the cost of moving fuel from the oil company's depot to your pump. It is not in Rs 398.30, so a pump far from a depot can legitimately differ by a small amount.

The second note says the full impact of a change in daily international prices is passed on in seven working days. The sheet uses a seven working day rolling average of the Gulf price and the dollar rate. That is why petrol can fall a little even on a day the world price jumps.

For a rate at your own pump, use OGRA's pump wise list, which we explain in checking the petrol price at your pump on OGRA's list. The list is for the pump, the sheet is for the national price.

What to do when your pump charges more

Compare the pump's board with the sheet and the pump wise list. If the pump is above both, note the date, time, litres and receipt, and make your complaint. Our guide to complaining about a petrol pump lists the offices and helplines.

  1. Photograph the price board and the dispenser total.
  2. Keep the receipt with the date and time on it.
  3. Match the date to the right sheet, not to a day earlier or later.
  4. Check the pump wise list for your district.
  5. Send the evidence with your complaint.

Common questions

Where is the official petrol price published in Pakistan?

OGRA posts it on ogra.org.pk under Prices, then Price Publications. The Petroleum Division also lists it under Petroleum Prices.

At what time does a new price start?

The sheet says the price is effective at 00:00 hours on its date. In other words it starts at midnight.

Why is there no OGRA sheet for some days?

A sheet can cover several days. The Petroleum Division shows one sheet for 3rd to 5th October, so there is no separate sheet for 4 or 5 October.

Is the sheet price the same as my pump price?

It is the notified price excluding secondary freight. The pump price can differ slightly by the transport cost from the depot to your pump.

Why does the price change when oil prices do not?

The sheet uses a seven working day rolling average, so it also moves with the dollar rate and the freight and margin lines.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read OGRA's Price Publications page and the petrol and diesel pages of the sheet effective 10 October 2026, and the Petroleum Division's list of daily price notices, on 12 October 2026. The 13 October sheet was not published at that time. The coverage of the 10 October sheet to 12 October is as reported, and we could not see it printed on the sheet itself.
