Short answer: Claude Haiku 5.5 is Anthropic's small, fast model, released on 7 October 2026. Anthropic lists its API price at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for prompts up to 100,000 tokens. It is available on Claude.ai for every user tier.

A developer in Rawalpindi builds a tool that sorts 5,000 customer messages a day into complaints, orders and questions. A big model would do it well, but the bill would grow every month. A small model that costs a fraction can do the same sorting. That is the job Anthropic built Haiku 5.5 for.

We read Anthropic's Haiku page on 13 October 2026 and Claude's release notes. The prices below are as Anthropic lists them for its own platform. Check the live page before you budget, because model prices change.

Haiku 5.5 is the small, cheap model in the Claude 5.5 family

Anthropic calls Haiku 5.5 the fastest and most efficient model in the Claude 5.5 family. It is built for high-volume, cost-sensitive work. Anthropic names summarising, sorting text into groups and computer use automation as typical jobs.

Claude's release notes record the launch on 7 October 2026. They describe it as the cheapest, fastest and most capable small model Anthropic has released. Anthropic says it is a significant step up over Haiku 4.5 in coding, tool use, computer use and agents.

The larger models in the family are Opus 5.5, released on 22 September, and Sonnet 5.5, released on 28 September. Haiku sits below both. Use it when speed and cost matter more than the deepest reasoning.

The listed API price is $0.10 and $0.50 per million tokens

A token is a small piece of text, roughly three quarters of a word in English. Anthropic prices by the million tokens. For prompts up to 100,000 tokens it lists $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Longer prompts cost more.

Prompt sizeInput, per million tokensOutput, per million tokens
Up to 100,000 tokens$0.10$0.50
Over 100,000 tokens$0.50$2.50

For scale, one dollar buys 10 million input tokens at the lower rate. Anthropic also lists savings of up to 90 percent with prompt caching and 50 percent with batch processing. Caching means the model reuses a long prompt you send again and again.

You can use it on Claude.ai or through the API

Anthropic says Haiku 5.5 is available on Claude.ai on the web, on iOS and on Android, for all user tiers. It is also on the Claude Platform, on AWS, on Google Cloud, on Microsoft Foundry and in Claude Code. The page does not list countries.

  1. Open Claude.ai and sign in, then pick Haiku 5.5 from the model list if it shows for your plan.
  2. For the API, make an account on the Claude Platform and create a key.
  3. Send a small test of 20 or 30 messages and check the answers by hand.
  4. Count the tokens used, and multiply by the listed price to project a monthly bill.
  5. Only then switch the full workload to the model.

Payment from Pakistan can be the hard part. API accounts need a card that works for international payments. The guide to paying for Google Ads and Meta Ads from Pakistan covers the same card issues.

Pick Haiku for volume and a larger model for hard problems

Haiku fits repeated, simple tasks. Larger models fit work where one wrong answer costs a lot. Anthropic's customers quoted on its page report faster replies, with up to 2.5 times faster inference, but those are customer claims, not a test we ran.

Urdu quality can differ between models, so test your own text first. The comparison in the best AI for Urdu in Pakistan is a good starting point. The three free plans are compared in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude free plans in Pakistan.

Protect your chats and your keys

If you use Claude.ai for work, decide what it may learn from. The steps to turn off Claude training on your chats take a minute. Never paste an API key into a chat or a public file. Treat it like a bank password.

Developers on other platforms face the same pressure from model changes. See what Pakistani developers must change when a Gemini model is retired.
