ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude Free Plans in Pakistan: What You Get in 2026

All three big AI chat tools have a free plan that works in Pakistan today. ChatGPT Free gives unlimited everyday text chats. Gemini Free comes with any Google account and 15 GB of storage. Claude Free includes web search, file creation and memory. The first paid step costs about US$5 on Gemini and US$20 on ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro.

We read each company's own pricing and help pages on 28 September 2026. Pakistan is on OpenAI's and Anthropic's supported country lists, and Google names Pakistan on its Gemini pages. None of the three needs a VPN or a foreign phone number to start.

Prices below are the US dollar figures each company publishes, unless we say otherwise. Your bank adds its own charges on top, which we explain further down.

ChatGPT Free gives unlimited text chats with usage caps on extras

OpenAI's pricing page says the Free plan includes "unlimited text chats" with its everyday model, GPT-5.6 Luna. Uploads, image creation, voice chats, deep research, memory and Codex are all limited. "Unlimited" is subject to OpenAI's abuse guardrails, so heavy automated use can still be stopped.

Above Free there are three personal plans:

• Go: more uploads, images, voice chats and longer memory. OpenAI says Go "may include ads". OpenAI's page did not show us a Go price, and it was reported at Rs 1,400 a month when it launched in Pakistan.
• Plus: US$20 a month, per OpenAI's help centre. It adds advanced reasoning with GPT-6, projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs.
• Pro: two tiers, US$100 and US$200 a month. OpenAI paused new sign-ups to the US$200 tier on 10 September 2026. The US$100 tier is still open.

OpenAI has no standing student deal for Pakistan. Its current student offer, four months of ChatGPT Work, is only for students at eligible US colleges and closes on 31 October.

Gemini Free comes with every Google account

Google's subscriptions page lists Gemini Free at US$0 a month with a Google account. It includes Gemini 3.6 Flash, "varying access" to 3.1 Pro, image generation, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas and Gems, plus the normal 15 GB of Google storage.

The free plan has a smaller working memory. Google's Gemini help page says users without an AI plan get a 32,000 token context window, which is roughly how much text Gemini can read at once. That is enough for a long chapter, not a whole textbook. Google also says free users may lose features like Deep Research first when demand is high.

Google charges Pakistan in rupees, and the rupee prices are lower than the dollar ones. When we checked Google's Pakistan pages on 23 September, AI Plus was Rs 1,400 a month and AI Pro was Rs 5,600 a month. Students get more: the free Gemini year for students gives AI Plus at no cost for twelve months.

Claude Free includes search, files and memory

Anthropic's pricing page lists Claude Free at US$0. It covers chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, creating files, running code, memory across chats, connecting apps and building Artifacts, which are small documents or tools inside the chat.

Claude Pro costs US$20 a month, or US$17 a month if you pay US$200 for a year up front. It adds more usage, more models and scheduled tasks. Max starts at US$100 a month for 5x or 20x Pro's usage.

Anthropic's help centre says prices appear in local currency "where supported" and that some regions add tax at checkout. It also says there are no standing discounts, only occasional time-limited promotions. So there is no Pakistan student deal for Claude today.

The three free plans side by side

For everyday chats, all three free plans are usable in Pakistan. ChatGPT promises the most text chatting. Gemini gives the most storage and ties into Gmail and Drive. Claude gives the most tools on its free plan. Gemini is also the cheapest to upgrade.

Price is not the only test. The best AI for Urdu depends on whether you type Urdu script or speak it. For study work beyond chat, NotebookLM and paper readers are among the AI tools for students that are free to start.

Paying from Pakistan adds bank tax and exchange charges

Any Visa or Mastercard with international online use switched on can pay for all three. ChatGPT can bill in rupees on its website. Your bank may still deduct FBR's advance tax on card payments abroad, 0.5% for filers and 1% for non-filers.

OpenAI's multi-currency billing page lists PKR among its supported currencies. That means a Pakistani card may be charged in rupees on chatgpt.com rather than dollars. OpenAI also says that if you subscribe inside the Android or iPhone app, Google Play or Apple manages the plan and charges your local currency.

1. Use the free plan for a week and note where you hit a limit.
2. Switch on international online payments for your debit or credit card in your banking app.
3. Choose where to pay: the website, or the app through Google Play in Pakistan.
4. Pay monthly first, not yearly, so you can stop easily.
5. Check your first bank statement for the exchange rate and the advance tax.

FBR's rate card, updated to 30 June 2026, lists the tax under section 236Y on amounts "remitted abroad through credit, debit or prepaid cards". Whether your bank applies it to a rupee-billed charge is up to how the bank classifies the payment, so the statement is the only reliable check.
