If you passed the written part of CSS Competitive Examination 2026, two steps remain: the one day psychological assessment and the viva voce, the interview before an FPSC panel. We read the "Tentative Program For Assessment And Viva Voce (Revised as of 16.10.2026)" on FPSC's website on 20 October 2026. FPSC calls every date in it tentative and subject to change.

The CSS 2026 viva voce runs from 30 October 2026 to 5 April 2027

The revised programme sets viva voce ranges for 17 of its 19 centre phases, starting with Islamabad Phase II on 30 October 2026 and ending with Lahore Phase V on 5 April 2027. Islamabad Phase I and Lahore Phase I already have firm dates on FPSC's website.

Each phase has its own block of roll numbers. Your city is where you sat the written exam, or the centre FPSC assigned. Islamabad has eight phases, Lahore five, Karachi three, and Peshawar, Quetta and Multan one each. By our count the PDF carries about 475 distinct roll numbers.

Find your phase by roll number, not by city alone

Your phase is fixed by your roll number. FPSC prints the roll numbers for each centre phase in the PDF. Search the file for your five digit roll number, then read the dates on that row. Do not assume the first phase in your city is yours.

In some phases the lists differ between the two steps. In Islamabad Phase III, for example, a roll number can appear under psychological assessment but not under viva voce, or the other way round. That usually means part of the candidate's process sits in a different phase. Check both lists before you book travel.

1. Open FPSC's web notices and choose "CE-2026 Tentative Program For Assessment And Viva Voce (Revised)".
2. Search the PDF for your five digit roll number.
3. Note the centre, the phase and which list your number is in.
4. Read the date range for psychological assessment and for viva voce.
5. Wait for the firm schedule with your exact day, and check FPSC's website often.

The dates are ranges, so wait for your firm day

Each phase shows a date range, not your own day. FPSC posts a "firmed up schedule" later with each candidate's exact date. For the first phases in Islamabad and Lahore, that firm schedule is already on the website.

That makes the ranges useful for planning leave and travel, and not much more. A government employee who needs permission to attend, or a candidate abroad, can now block a week or two. The notice says plainly that the dates "are tentative and may be subject to change".

Psychological assessment comes first in most phases

In every phase with dates, the psychological assessment window opens before the viva voce window. In Multan, for example, assessment runs 2 to 10 November 2026 and the viva runs 20 to 30 November 2026. The gap differs by phase.

In Karachi Phase II the gap is long: assessment in late December 2026, viva in early February 2027. In Lahore Phase IV the two windows overlap, 23 February to 3 March for assessment and 26 February to 5 March for viva. Your preference form and medical come before the panel

Before the viva, you fill the final preference form for the 12 occupational groups and hand it in as FPSC asks. You also need to clear the medical examination. Both feed into allocation after the viva.

Is Peshawar's viva in 2026 or 2027?

It runs from 28 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. Assessment there is 11 to 18 December 2026.

Why is my roll number in only one list?

Some phases list assessment and viva separately. Your other step may sit in a different phase, so search the whole PDF.

The count of 19 phases, the phases per city and the figure of about 475 roll numbers are our own counts from that PDF, and the roll number count may be off by a few because of how the file is laid out.
