Most Pakistani banks pay very little on US dollar savings in November 2026: 0.05% to 1.00% at UBL, Bank Alfalah and JS Bank. Allied Bank pays 1.75% at every balance, and Meezan Bank declared 2.00% on its dollar Roshan Digital Account for October. Dollar term deposits pay more, about 2% to 3% for a year at the banks we checked.

We read the dollar rate sheets of six banks on 4 November 2026: Allied Bank, Meezan Bank, Bank Alfalah, JS Bank, UBL and Soneri Bank. Rates are yearly and paid in dollars. They apply to foreign currency accounts held in Pakistan, often called FE-25 accounts after the SBP circular that allows them, and to Roshan Digital Accounts for overseas Pakistanis.

Dollar savings pay 0.05% to 2.00% at Pakistani banks

Allied Bank and Meezan Bank pay the most on ordinary dollar savings. Bank Alfalah, JS Bank and UBL pay under 1% unless you hold large balances. The table shows the US dollar savings rate on a typical balance under USD 10,000.

Meezan is an Islamic bank, so its 2.00% is a profit share declared after the month ends. The other rates are set in advance and can change each month. For a rupee comparison, see our Roshan Digital Account profit rates for November 2026.

Dollar term deposits pay about 2% to 3% for a year

Locking dollars for a fixed period pays more. UBL pays 2.25% for 3 months, 6 months or 1 year on deposits under USD 50,000, and up to 3.00% for 1 year from USD 50,000. Bank Alfalah's app-only Alfa dollar deposit pays 3.15% for 6 months and 2.00% for 1 year.

Notice that Alfalah pays more for 6 months than for 1 year. Check every tenor before you book, not just the 1 year rate. Meezan's certificate figures are its declared rates for October, which we read from a sheet whose columns are tightly packed, so confirm them at a branch.

Soneri Forex Plus lists 3% to 5% on dollar savings

Soneri Bank's Forex Plus account is the exception. Its foreign currency sheet lists 3.00% on US dollars up to USD 4,999, then 3.25%, 3.50%, 4.00%, and 5.00% from USD 100,000. But the sheet says it has been effective since 21 November 2023, so it may no longer match what the branch offers.

  • Up to USD 4,999.99: 3.00%.
  • USD 5,000 to 9,999.99: 3.25%.
  • USD 10,000 to 24,999.99: 3.50%.
  • USD 25,000 to 99,999.99: 4.00%.
  • USD 100,000 and above: 5.00%.

Ask Soneri in writing for the current Forex Plus rate and whether new accounts are being opened before you move any money.

Why banks pay so little on dollars

Banks in Pakistan must keep part of their FE-25 dollar deposits with SBP in a special cash reserve. SBP sets the return it pays banks on that reserve each month, and for November 2026 it is 2.90%, according to DMMD Circular Letter No. 13 of 30 October 2026. That gives a sense of what banks themselves earn on the reserved part of your dollars.

A rupee account pays far more, 10.50% or so at conventional banks. But a rupee balance loses value if the rupee falls against the dollar. A dollar account protects you from that, and the small profit is the price. If you are opening one, read our guide to opening a dollar account in Pakistan first.

How to choose a dollar account in Pakistan

  1. Decide if you need the dollars soon. If yes, use a savings account. If not, compare term deposits.
  2. Compare the rate for your exact balance, because most banks pay by tier.
  3. Check whether profit is worked out on the minimum, average or daily balance. Alfalah uses the minimum monthly balance for FCY savings, JS Bank uses daily balances.
  4. Ask about card and transfer fees, which can cancel a 1% profit quickly.
  5. Overseas Pakistanis should compare the Roshan Digital Account with an FE-25 account at the same bank.

Common questions

Which bank gives the highest profit on a dollar account in Pakistan?

Of the current sheets we read, Meezan declared 2.00% on its dollar Roshan Digital Account for October 2026 and Allied Bank pays 1.75% on dollar savings in November. Soneri's Forex Plus lists up to 5.00%, but on a 2023 sheet.

What is the profit rate on a dollar Roshan Digital Account?

From 0.10% at Bank Alfalah to 2.00% at Meezan, depending on the bank and balance. JS Bank pays 0.20% to 1.00% by daily balance.

Do dollar term deposits pay more than dollar savings?

Yes, usually. UBL pays 2.25% to 3.00% for 1 year depending on amount, against 0.05% on UBL dollar savings.

Is profit on a dollar account paid in dollars?

The rates are quoted on dollar balances and paid into the dollar account. Check tax and Zakat treatment with your bank.

What does SBP pay banks on dollar reserves?

2.90% for November 2026 on the special cash reserve banks keep with SBP against FE-25 deposits.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read on 4 November 2026: Allied Bank's projected rates for November 2026, Meezan Bank's profit rate sheet, Bank Alfalah's deposit rate sheet, JS Bank's FCY rates for November 2026, UBL's October 2026 rate sheet (no November sheet was online), Soneri Bank's foreign currency rate sheet, and SBP's DMMD Circular Letter No. 13 of 2026. Allied's dollar term deposit columns and JS Bank's term table did not line up clearly, so we left them out.
