Get Free Animal Treatment and Vaccines in Punjab: Call the Livestock Helpline 08000-9211
Punjab Livestock Department lists free animal diagnosis, treatment, surgery and vaccines at over 3,500 centres. See the services, the helpline and how to start.

Punjab's Livestock and Dairy Development Department gives free diagnosis, treatment, surgery, vaccines and deworming for animals through a network of over 3,500 service centres, and farmers can reach its helpline on 08000-9211. A sick buffalo does not need a private vet bill before you try the government centre first.
We read the department's own pages at livestock.punjab.gov.pk on 21 October 2026: the home page, the FAQs page, the extension services page and the vaccine and diagnostic pages. Everything below comes from them, and we mark what we could not confirm.
The department lists free services for animals and poultry
The FAQs page says the department provides free diagnostic, treatment and surgery facilities, vaccines against infectious diseases, artificial insemination, deworming, pre-slaughter and post-slaughter examination, and professional support through its helpline. It does not give loans.
| Service | What the department says |
|---|---|
| Diagnosis, treatment, surgery | Free at its centres |
| Vaccines | Against infectious diseases, with a vaccination chart |
| Artificial insemination | Modern methods, semen of Nili Ravi, Sahiwal, Cholistani, Dhanni, Friesian and Jersey |
| Deworming | Offered as a service |
| Helpline | 08000-9211, professional and technical support |
| Loans | Not provided by the department |
The word "free" on the department's page refers to the service listing. Ask the centre if a particular medicine is in stock, because the page does not promise stock.

Over 3,500 centres run under four names
The extension services page says the department has a network of over 3,500 service centres. They include CVH, CVD, mobile dispensaries and Sahulat Centers, staffed by veterinary doctors, veterinary assistants and artificial insemination technicians.
The page does not give a district-wise list of addresses. So the practical way to find yours is to call 08000-9211 and ask for the nearest centre. CVH and CVD are the department's own short names for a veterinary hospital and a veterinary dispensary.
Sahulat Centers are the same places where the department says animal feed concentrate, called wanda, is available in every tehsil. A tehsil is the sub-district unit below a district.
The department also holds a Farmers' Day every month through local veterinary officers, as per its schedule. Landowners learn about departmental services and dairy farming there. The page does not give dates, so ask your local office.
How to get an animal treated, step by step
Take the animal, or call the centre, as soon as you notice the problem. Do not wait for a disease to spread through the herd. Keep a record of the date and the medicine given, because later vaccines depend on it.
- Call 08000-9211 and say your tehsil and the animal type.
- Ask for the nearest CVH, CVD, mobile dispensary or Sahulat Centre.
- Describe the signs: fever, lumps, no appetite, falling milk.
- Ask whether the animal needs a laboratory test before treatment.
- Write down the vet's advice and the date of any vaccine.

Lumpy skin disease is one the department reports on. Its page says free lumpy skin vaccine is being given to cows, and that farmers can report the disease through the department's mobile app at no cost. That page dates from the 2022 outbreak, so ask your centre whether the campaign is running now.
The department says lumpy skin disease does not pass to humans
The department's lumpy skin page says the disease does not move from animals to people. It says milk and meat are safe when used under normal hygiene rules. The page also gives a disease rate of 10 to 20 per cent and a death rate of 1 to 5 per cent.
Insects such as mosquitoes, biting flies and ticks spread it, the page says, and close contact between animals is the main route. A farmer should therefore move sick animals away from the herd and call the centre. For the national picture of herd sizes, the cattle and goat numbers from the 2024 agricultural census show how large the stock at risk is.
Money help is separate from the department
The department says it does not provide livestock loans and tells farmers that listed banks do. For cattle, goats or poultry, the loan routes are different pages. Use them for money and use the department for animal health.
The Punjab Livestock Card is a separate government scheme. For bank credit, the ZTBL schemes for dairy value chain loans and sheep and goat loans list their own terms. Check each scheme's page before you apply, because the conditions differ.

The home page also lists extras for farmers: a Kissan Rehnumai app, a doorstep delivery service called Dastak, and the department's own mobile application for reporting disease. The extension page adds Kissan Livestock Baithak programmes and mobile training buses. We did not install the apps, so we cannot say how well they work. A phone call to the helpline is the simplest first step for most farmers.
Keep your animal's records on paper: the date of each treatment, the vaccine given and the vet's name. When a second vet sees the animal, that note saves a repeat test and a repeat dose. It also helps if a claim or a loan officer asks for proof later.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 21 October 2026. We read the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department's home page, its FAQs page, extension services page and lumpy skin disease page on that date. We did not call the helpline or visit a centre. We could not confirm district-wise centre addresses, current vaccine stock, or whether a mass vaccination campaign is running now, because the pages do not say.
