Apply for the ZTBL Sheep and Goat Loan: Up to Rs 2.5 Million in 12 Districts
ZTBL lends up to Rs 2.5 million to sheep and goat rearers in 12 districts for fattening or breeding. See the district list, repayment time and how to apply.

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) lends up to Rs 2.5 million per borrower to sheep and goat rearers, for fattening or for breeding. The scheme starts in 12 districts: Multan, Faisalabad, D.G. Khan, D.I. Khan, Bhakkar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Sukkur, Peshawar, Lasbella, Loralai and Khuzdar. Fattening loans run 6 to 15 months. Breeding loans run 5 years.
ZTBL calls it a red meat financing package. It says the scheme will expand in phases, so districts may be added. We read the scheme page on ZTBL's own website on 14 October 2026. The terms below come from it, and the page shows no markup percentage.
The scheme covers 12 districts in four provinces for now
Only rearers in the selected areas can apply at this stage. The page names Multan, Faisalabad, D.G. Khan and Bhakkar in Punjab, D.I. Khan and Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu and Sukkur in Sindh, and Lasbella, Loralai and Khuzdar in Balochistan.
The grouping by province is our own sorting of the districts on the list. If your district is missing, call the bank before you spend time on papers. The page says expansion will come in phases but gives no dates.
The loan limit is Rs 2.5 million per borrower or party. The bank describes the scheme as one to promote the livestock sector, and the number of animals it supports is large: the 2024 census counted 95.83 million goats in Pakistan.

Fattening loans last 6 to 15 months and breeding loans last 5 years
You pick one of two uses. A fattening loan buys animals to feed and sell, and you repay within 6 to 15 months. A breeding or farming loan builds a flock, and you repay within 5 years, including a one year grace period.
| Loan type | Repayment time |
|---|---|
| Fattening | 6 to 15 months |
| Breeding or farming | 5 years, including a 1 year grace period |
Fattening is quick money with quick repayment. Breeding is slower and gentler on cash. The page does not say how instalments are split for the fattening loan, so ask the branch whether you pay in one sum at sale or in parts.
Whichever you choose, the markup is the prevailing rate on development loans and the cost of credit is as per the bank's rules. Ask for the figure in writing.
You put in 10 percent and offer security the bank accepts
You deposit 10 per cent of the loan amount yourself as self contribution. The bank asks for tangible securities or property that it accepts. You bring a CNIC copy, the loan application, your agricultural passbook or Fard Jamabandi and two recent photographs.
Our example: on a Rs 1,000,000 loan your 10 per cent is Rs 100,000. That is our arithmetic, not a bank figure. The page does not say whether the 10 per cent is taken from the Rs 1,000,000 or paid on top of it, so ask.

Head office sanctions the loan and checks every use of the money
The Credit Review Department at head office sanctions each loan. The bank's mobile credit officer checks how the money is used in every case, and the branch manager, regional manager and internal auditor check samples. So keep receipts for animals and feed.
A careless record is the easiest way to have trouble later. Keep purchase slips, vet notes and sale receipts in one file. Vet care also lowers your risk. In Punjab the free animal treatment helpline can help, and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there are mobile veterinary clinics.
Apply at a ZTBL branch in a listed district
Take your papers to a ZTBL branch that serves a listed district. The branch accepts the file and sends it up for sanction. The money is then released under the loan terms.
- Confirm your district is on the list of 12.
- Decide whether you want a fattening loan or a breeding loan.
- Count the animals and costs you plan, and your 10 per cent share.
- Collect the CNIC copy, passbook or Fard Jamabandi and two photographs.
- Submit the application at the branch and ask for the markup in writing.
- Keep all receipts, because the bank checks your use of the money.

The bank's helpline is 051-111-30-30-30, as shown on ZTBL's home page. Punjab also runs a separate interest free card, explained in the Punjab Livestock Card.
