The gold rate in Pakistan going into Saturday 3 October 2026 is Rs 440,636 per tola for 24 karat and Rs 377,774 per 10 grams. That is the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association rate set on Friday 2 October, after a rise of Rs 2,000 a tola.

So treat Rs 440,636 as the rate gold opens with on Saturday, not a new Saturday price. The association sets its rate once a day, usually in the afternoon. Until then, any site that shows a "3 October" figure is showing Friday's number or a guess.

We could not read the rate at source. The association has no website we could find, the same problem we noted on every gold report since mid September. Every rate below is the association's figure as reported. We checked that two reports agree and that the daily changes add up.

Gold is Rs 440,636 per tola and Rs 377,774 per 10 grams for 24 karat, the association rate set on 2 October 2026. Silver is Rs 6,578 a tola, up Rs 50. International gold was reported at about 4,181 dollars an ounce, up 20.

The 22 and 21 karat figures are simple fractions of the 24 karat rate. The association's own 22 karat figure can differ from that sum by a few rupees, so expect small gaps. A gram of 24 karat works out at about Rs 37,777.

These are metal prices. A jeweller adds making charges and a margin on top. The tola and karat arithmetic behind every rate list is the one we used here.

Gold won back two thirds of Thursday's fall on Friday

Gold fell Rs 3,000 a tola on Thursday 1 October, then rose Rs 2,000 on Friday 2 October. It is now Rs 3,300 above the September low of Rs 437,336. Since Saturday 26 September it is down Rs 10,300, about 2.3 per cent.

  1. 26 September: Rs 450,936 a tola, the rate in our Saturday report.
  2. 28 September: down Rs 12,800 to Rs 438,136, with the ounce falling sharply.
  3. 29 September: down Rs 800 to Rs 437,336, the lowest rate in September.
  4. 30 September: up Rs 4,300 to Rs 441,636.
  5. 1 October: down Rs 3,000 to Rs 438,636, the rate in our 2 October report.
  6. 2 October: up Rs 2,000 to Rs 440,636, with the ounce up about 20 dollars.

Those five changes add up to minus Rs 10,300. That matches the gap between Rs 450,936 and Rs 440,636 exactly. The 10 gram rate also adds up: Rs 376,059 plus Rs 1,715 is Rs 377,774.

Gold is Rs 25,500 a tola below its 1 September rate

Gold started September at Rs 466,136 a tola. At Rs 440,636 it is now Rs 25,500 lower, about 5.5 per cent, by our arithmetic. Friday's rise is small next to that gap. It is still Rs 1,000 below the 30 September rate.

The rate has now moved up and down on four sessions in a row: down, up, down, up. That is a market without a clear direction this week. Nobody can tell you Saturday's rate before the session, and anyone who claims to is guessing.

The ounce price drove Friday's rise, not the rupee

The Pakistani rate follows the international ounce price turned into rupees per tola. The ounce rose from about 4,161 dollars on 1 October to about 4,181 on 2 October, and the local rate rose with it. The rupee figure behind the rate stayed close to Rs 281.

A tola is 0.375 of an ounce. At 4,181 dollars, a tola of gold is worth about 1,568 dollars. Divide Rs 440,636 by that and you get about Rs 281 per dollar. We found the same figure on 26 September, 1 October and 2 October.

International gold ounce price and the Pakistani tola rate on 30 September, 1 October and 2 October 2026

That Rs 281 is our own sum, not an exchange rate you can trade at. It only shows that the local rate is tracking the ounce. A move of 20 dollars an ounce is worth roughly Rs 2,100 a tola at this rupee rate, close to Friday's Rs 2,000.

Buyers should wait for Saturday's rate and compare making charges

If you are buying on Saturday, ask the shop which day's rate it is using. Before the afternoon session, a fair answer is Friday's Rs 440,636. After the session, it should be Saturday's new rate, which may be higher or lower.

  1. Note the association rate and the date it was set.
  2. Ask for the gold rate and the making charge as two separate figures.
  3. Check the karat stamp. 916 means 22 karat and 875 means 21 karat.
  4. Get the weight, karat, rate and making charge written on the receipt.
  5. If you are selling, ask for the shop's buying rate first. It is lower than the association rate.

The receipt also matters for tax. The sales tax on gold jewellery is 3 per cent of the sale value, and a proper bill shows what you paid. Rate websites can show old numbers under today's date, and in August we found three different prices within minutes. Rs 440,636 is not a record either: gold was Rs 466,136 on 1 September.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked at about 1:30pm PKT on 2 October 2026, after Friday's session. Gold rates change every session, so check the day's rate before you buy or sell.

We could not read the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association rate at source, because we found no website for it. The 2 October tola, 10 gram and silver rates are the association's figures as reported that afternoon, and two reports agree on each. The ounce prices are reported. The 26 September to 1 October and 1 September rates are from our earlier reports. The 22 and 21 karat rates, the per gram rate, the changes over the week and month and the implied rupee per dollar figure are our own arithmetic.
