HESCO load shedding depends on your feeder's losses, from 0 to 12 hours a day. In HESCO's current schedule, dated September 2026 and updated on 7 September, 299 of its 723 feeders have no load shedding. Feeders with losses of 40 to 60 per cent get 6 hours a day, 60 to 80 per cent get 8 hours, and above 80 per cent get 12 hours.

We read the two files HESCO publishes on its Load Management Schedule page: the circle-wise abstract and the 16 page list of every feeder. "Losses" here means AT&C losses, the share of electricity that HESCO supplies but does not get paid for, through theft, unpaid bills and line losses. The higher that share on your feeder, the longer the cuts. The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) serves Hyderabad and lower Sindh.

HESCO load shedding hours by loss category

HESCO sorts every 11 kV feeder into seven categories by its AT&C losses. Each category has fixed daily hours of load shedding. A feeder in Category I or II has none.

That means 350 feeders, almost half, face 6 hours or more of load shedding a day. Only 38 are in the 12 hour category.

HESCO load shedding by circle

HESCO has four operation circles. Laar circle has the most feeders and the most with no load shedding. Hyderabad circle has the largest number in the 8 hour category.

How to find your feeder's load shedding hours

The quickest way is to know your feeder name. It is printed on your HESCO bill. Then find it in HESCO's feeder list or in the Hyderabad table below.

  1. Take your latest HESCO bill and find the feeder name and the grid station.
  2. Open the Load Management Schedule page on hesco.gov.pk and download "Load Shedding Schedule (September-2026) Total Feeders of HESCO".
  3. Search the file for your feeder name. The last column, "No. Of Hours", gives your daily hours.
  4. The time columns show when the cuts fall, in one hour slots that start at 23:45.
  5. If your feeder is marked "Independent", "Defence" or "Load shedding canceled", it has no scheduled cuts.

You can also use your reference number on the national portal for the government power companies. The steps are in the load shedding schedule by reference number.

Several Hyderabad city feeders have had load shedding cancelled by order of HESCO's Chief Executive, according to the list. They include Defence, Saddar, Mehran Qasimabad, Hayat Baba, K.B. Qureshi, New Agha Khan, Cofcot, Hali Nagar, Pakka Qila, New Islamabad and Hira Abad. Many housing schemes on their own feeders, such as Palm Residence and Indus Haven, are marked "Independent" and have no cuts.

Why your feeder's hours can go down

HESCO sets the hours by the losses on the whole feeder, not by your own bill. So a household that pays on time still faces cuts if many others on the same feeder do not. That is the hardest part of the system for honest customers.

Hours fall when the feeder moves to a lower category. That happens when recovery improves and theft drops. HESCO publishes a new schedule when categories change, so check the date on the file each month. The current files were updated on 7 September 2026.

HESCO's loss targets, and how far it is from them, are in the HESCO loss target set by NEPRA. If you face cuts outside your feeder's scheduled slots, that is not load shedding under this schedule. Report it on 118, using the numbers in the HESCO complaint number list.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We downloaded "Abstract of Running Load Management HESCO Circle Wise (September-2026)" and "Load Shedding Schedule (September-2026) Total Feeders of HESCO (Updated on 07-09-2026)" from HESCO's Load Management Schedule page on 4 November 2026. They were the latest files on the page that day. The Hyderabad table is our extract from the feeder list. Hours are as scheduled; actual cuts can differ on the day.
