Pakistan won the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 Plate final on Sunday 1 November, beating Oman by 18 runs, and captain Abbas Afridi was named Player of the Tournament after 73 off 16 balls in the final. Afghanistan won the Cup, their first Hong Kong Sixes title, by beating Australia by 4 wickets.

Pakistan came to Kowloon as defending champions and leave in fifth place. That is a step down from last year's record sixth title. But Afridi finished the weekend as the joint top run scorer with 216 and the top six hitter with 31. We read the organisers' two final day reports on the official tournament website on 2 November 2026. Below are the Plate final scorecard, every Sunday result, the award winners and where Pakistan's cricket goes next.

Pakistan beat Oman by 18 runs in the Plate final

Pakistan made 154 in their 6 overs and held Oman to 136, winning the Plate final by 18 runs. Oman won the toss and chose to field. Pakistan hit 22 sixes in the innings, and the win gave them fifth place out of 12 teams.

The start was shaky. Muzahir Raza bowled the first over for Oman and removed Khawaja Nafay for 7. Nafay had been Pakistan's other opener all week, so losing him early hurt.

Afridi then took the game away. He hit five sixes in the second over, reached his fifty in 13 balls and finished on 73 off 16, with one four and 11 sixes. Abdul Samad added 32 off 7 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Daniyal hit 25 off 5 balls, all four of his boundaries sixes.

Oman did not give up. Openers Zohaib Amanat, 61 not out off 18, and Usman Afridi, 67 not out off 17, batted through the six overs. They still finished 18 short.

Abbas Afridi was Player of the Tournament with 216 runs and 31 sixes

Abbas Afridi, Pakistan's captain, won the Player of the Tournament award. He shared the most runs, 216, with Australia's Max Bryant and hit the most sixes, 31. No other Pakistani player appears on the organisers' list of tournament leaders.

His week, from the organisers' match reports, went like this. He made 35 off 8 against India on Friday, 55 off 13 against Hong Kong, China in Saturday's Plate semi-final and 73 off 16 in the final. That is 163 runs. By our sum, the other 53 of his 216 came in the opening defeat to the UAE, for which we have not seen a scorecard.

Thirty-one sixes in four innings is the number that stands out. A six is worth the most in a format where most bowlers get one over each, and Afridi kept hitting them in every game we have a report for.

Afghanistan beat Australia by 4 wickets to win the Cup

Afghanistan won the Cup final and their first Hong Kong Sixes title by chasing 116 against Australia. They reached 119 for 2 in 5.1 overs. Imran Mir made 53 not out off 14 balls and was Player of the Match.

Australia won the toss and batted. Max Bryant hit 44 off 14, Nick Hobson 23 off 8 and Alex Ross 29 not out off 10, for 115 in 6 overs. Nangeyalia Khan and Karim Janat took a wicket each.

Afghanistan lost Karim Janat for 13 and Gulbadin Naib for 17 early. Then Imran Mir, with 7 sixes, and Farmanullah Safi, 26 not out off 7 with 4 sixes, finished it. The organisers give the margin as 4 wickets although only two fell. Sixes cricket lets a batter retire and come back, so wickets left are not counted the usual way.

UAE finished 46 runs short of their target of 136 in the third place match, so they end fourth. India's last ball win against Bangladesh came after Bangladesh captain Abu Hider hit 62 not out off 18.

Pakistan finish fifth after missing the Cup on the UAE result

Pakistan finish fifth of 12. They lost their first group game to the UAE and beat India, but the UAE won both games and topped Group C. Only group winners play for the Cup, so Pakistan dropped into the Plate.

The route to the Plate trophy, in order:

  1. Friday 30 October: lost to the UAE in Group C.
  2. Friday 30 October: beat India by 4 wickets, Afridi 35 off 8.
  3. Saturday 31 October: the UAE beat India, so Pakistan finished second in the group.
  4. Saturday 31 October: beat Hong Kong, China by 6 wickets in the Plate semi-final.
  5. Sunday 1 November: beat Oman by 18 runs in the Plate final.

The system that sent Pakistan to the Plate is set out in our explainer of the Hong Kong Sixes Cup, Plate and Bowl rules. For a side that came as champions, fifth is a disappointment. For Afridi, it was a very good week.

Pakistan's next cricket is the Sri Lanka Test series from 9 November

The Hong Kong side was a sixes squad, separate from the national team. Pakistan's senior men play next in the 1st Test against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi from 9 November, and the U19 side plays the U19 Asia Cup in Oman.

The fixture list, the warm-up and both Test squads sit in Pakistan's next match after the tri-series. The whole month, men, women, U19 and domestic, is in the Pakistan cricket schedule for November 2026.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read the organisers' final day report and Cup final report on the official Hong Kong Sixes website, both dated 1 November 2026, on 2 November 2026. The awards list is from the organisers' Cup final report. The reports do not give Pakistan's wickets in the final, the overs South Africa or India needed in full, or a scorecard for Pakistan's game against the UAE. Afridi's 53 against the UAE is our subtraction, not a published figure.
