IESCO new connection charges start at Rs 8,500 for a single phase meter with a service line up to 20 meters, and Rs 36,500 for a three phase meter on the same length, under IESCO's lump sum table for Tariff A1 and A2. A separate IESCO table prices AMI smart meter connections higher: Rs 35,000 to Rs 38,000 for single phase and Rs 65,000 to Rs 110,000 for three phase.

Most people only learn the figure when the demand notice arrives. We read both IESCO tables on 27 October 2026, so you can check the number before you pay, see what changes with the length of your cable, and know what the notice should and should not include.

IESCO publishes two charge tables for a new home or shop connection

IESCO lists lump sum charges for general connections under Tariff A1 (homes) and A2 (shops), and a separate capital cost table for AMI smart meters. Both tables price the connection by meter type and by the length of the service line from the pole.

The lump sum charges page and the AMI meter cost page sit side by side under Customer Downloads on iesco.com.pk. The page does not say which of the two applies to your house. That depends on the meter IESCO installs in your area, and the demand notice names it.

Single phase lump sum charges run from Rs 8,500 to Rs 11,500 up to 40 meters

For a single phase meter, IESCO charges Rs 8,500 for a service line up to 20 meters, Rs 10,500 up to 30 meters and Rs 11,500 up to 40 meters. Beyond 40 meters a pole and extra cable are added at a per meter rate.

The two longer single phase bands exclude connections inside housing societies. In a society, the developer is meant to have built the network already, so the pole and cable cost should not fall on you.

A quick example, using IESCO's own formula. A house 60 meters from the pole pays Rs 11,000 plus 20 meters at Rs 800, which comes to Rs 27,000. At 130 meters the figure is Rs 60,000 plus 30 meters at Rs 1,000, so Rs 90,000. Those totals are our arithmetic, not a quote from IESCO.

Three phase connections cost Rs 36,500 to Rs 50,000 before the 40 meter mark

A three phase meter on the lump sum table costs Rs 36,500 up to 20 meters, Rs 43,000 up to 30 meters and Rs 50,000 up to 40 meters. Past 40 meters IESCO recovers the actual cost of the pole and material at its current store rates, which are not published online, so your demand notice is the only firm figure.

Three phase is usually needed once your load goes above what a single phase meter carries. If you already have a meter and only want more load, that is a different application, and extending electricity load follows its own steps.

AMI smart meter connections cost Rs 35,000 to Rs 110,000

IESCO's AMI table prices a single phase smart meter with allied material at Rs 35,000 to Rs 38,000, and a three phase smart meter at Rs 65,000 to Rs 110,000, depending on cable size and a 20, 30 or 40 meter line.

Three phase, 19/0.52 four coreRs 65,000Rs 72,000Rs 79,000
Three phase, 19/0.83 four coreRs 85,000Rs 95,000Rs 110,000

The same table lists Rs 32,000 for a single phase meter and Rs 52,000 for a three phase meter used for a meter change order (MCO) or reconnection order (RCO). A CT meter is Rs 49,000 and a CT-PT meter is Rs 76,000, both excluding store and installation charges. CT meters are for large loads, not ordinary homes.

An AMI meter sends readings to the company without a meter reader. What that changes on your bill is set out in AMI smart meters in Pakistan.

The demand notice is the only bill you should pay

IESCO's charges are paid against a demand notice issued after your application and site survey. Pay only the amount on that notice, at a bank, and keep the receipt. Cash handed to staff or an agent leaves you with no record at all.

  1. Download the New Connection Form from Customer Downloads on iesco.com.pk, or collect it from your sub division office.
  2. Attach the documents the form asks for. The full list is in new connection documents and the demand notice.
  3. Submit the application and note the reference or tracking number you receive.
  4. Wait for the site survey, which measures the distance from the nearest pole.
  5. Compare the demand notice against the tables above for your meter type and line length.
  6. Pay the notice at a bank and keep the paid copy until the meter is installed.
Steps to check and pay an IESCO new connection demand notice

If the notice is far above the table for your distance, ask the sub division to show the survey sheet. A long line, a new pole or a transformer upgrade are the usual reasons. Whether your load needs its own transformer is covered in dedicated transformer load limits.

When the connection does not arrive after you pay

Once the demand notice is paid, the delay is IESCO's to explain. Ask your sub division for the date, then complain on 118 or in writing if nothing moves, and take it to NEPRA if the company still does not act.

By NEPRA's count, 128,096 paid applicants were waiting for a connection across the country, so you are not alone. The record is in late new electricity connections. For the IESCO helpline and the 11 customer care centres, see the IESCO complaint number list.

Never pay a middleman to "speed up" a meter. Nothing in IESCO's tables provides for such a fee, and the paid receipt from the bank is your only protection.

Common questions

What is the IESCO new single phase meter fee?

On IESCO's lump sum table it is Rs 8,500 for a service line up to 20 meters, rising to Rs 11,500 up to 40 meters. An AMI single phase meter costs Rs 35,000 to Rs 38,000 on IESCO's separate AMI table.

How much is a three phase meter from IESCO?

Rs 36,500 to Rs 50,000 on the lump sum table up to 40 meters. AMI three phase connections cost Rs 65,000 to Rs 110,000 depending on cable size and length.

Does the IESCO charge include the security deposit?

The two tables do not mention a security deposit. Your demand notice lists every item you must pay, so check it line by line.

Do I pay extra if my house is far from the pole?

Yes. Beyond 40 meters a single phase line costs Rs 11,000 plus Rs 800 per extra meter up to 100 meters, then Rs 60,000 plus Rs 1,000 per meter up to 160 meters. Three phase lines beyond 40 meters pay actual material cost.

Do these charges apply in a housing society?

The two longer single phase bands exclude housing society connections. Inside an approved society the developer is expected to have built the network.

Where do I pay the IESCO demand notice?

At a bank, against the printed demand notice. Keep the paid copy until the meter is fixed and your first bill arrives.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read IESCO's Lump Sum Charges page and its Capital Cost for AMI Meters page on iesco.com.pk on 27 October 2026, and its Customer Downloads page, which carries the New Connection Form. The 60 meter and 130 meter examples are our arithmetic from IESCO's formula. We could not confirm whether a home on an AMI connection pays the AMI cost in place of the lump sum or in addition to it, because the pages do not say, and we could not open the online application portal from our location. Your demand notice is the final word on the amount.
