How to Record a Court Order or Stay Order in Your Land Record in Punjab
Put a stay order, decree or attachment order into your Punjab land record through the ADLR. See the papers PLRA lists, the timing and what to do if it stalls.

Short answer: To record a court order in your Punjab land record, take a certified copy of the order to the Assistant Director Land Records (ADLR) at your Arazi Record Centre. For a stay order, PLRA says to add the plaint and that entry usually happens within one working day. Decrees go through the civil court or the District Collector.
You win a case, or you file one and get a stay. Then you find the land record still shows the old owner, and the seller is still free to sign a deed. A court order protects you only when the record reflects it. This guide explains how the order gets into the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) system.
We read PLRA's pages and FAQ text on implementing court orders on 11 October 2026. We did not file an order ourselves. That needs a real case file and a certified copy.
A court order must reach the land record to protect you
PLRA says court orders on land disputes, ownership transfers or record corrections must be formally implemented in its system so the land record shows the latest legal status. The order can be a decree, a stay order, an attachment order or a revenue court order, and each has its own route.
| Order type | Where you take it | Usual time PLRA gives |
|---|---|---|
| Civil court decree | Civil court execution, or the District Collector | No fixed limit, early action advised |
| Stay order | ADLR, with certified copy and plaint | Usually one working day after verification |
| Attachment (Qurki) order | ADLR, by the decree-holder or a representative | Same procedure as a stay order |
| Revenue court order | Implemented directly by ADLR | Usually 24 to 48 hours after the certified copy |

A stay order goes to the ADLR with a certified copy
A stay order temporarily suspends any action on specific land until the case is decided. PLRA says you submit an application to the ADLR with an attested copy of the stay order and the plaint. A Service Centre Official enters it, and the ADLR approves the entry after verification.
Only attested or certified copies are accepted. A photocopy from your lawyer's file will not do. PLRA says implementation usually takes one working day after the documents are verified.
- Obtain a certified copy of the stay order from the court.
- Keep a copy of the plaint.
- Submit an application to the ADLR at the concerned Arazi Record Centre.
- The Service Centre Official enters the order on the ADLR's instruction.
- The ADLR reviews and approves the entry.
- Check the updated record afterwards on the PLRA land record system.

To lift a stay, submit a certified copy of the vacation order with the full order sheet to the ADLR, who may verify it with the court. PLRA notes that stay entries cannot be deleted. The remarks of entry and removal remain visible for audit and reference.
If the stay was entered wrongly, apply to the ADLR for rectification with evidence or a court clarification. A wrong entry that did not come from a court is a record mistake, handled as in how to correct a mistake in your land record.
A decree needs one forum, the court or the Collector
A decree is a formal judgment of a civil court that decides ownership or rights in land. PLRA says it can be implemented either through the civil court's execution process or by applying to the District Collector. It must be one forum only, to avoid duplication.
If you go to the Collector, field staff and the Arazi Record Centre report on the decree. The Collector then issues an implementation order to the ADLR. You take that order to the ARC and present it to the ADLR for mutation entry and approval.
The documents PLRA lists are a certified copy of the decree, the Collector's order if applicable, your CNIC and the property details. PLRA gives no specific time limit, but early implementation is recommended to prevent record discrepancies. If the decree is partly implemented or wrongly entered, apply to the ADLR for correction or make a representation to the District Collector.
After a decree, the mutation entry follows the same record rules as a sale or inheritance. The sale side of this is in how to register property online in Punjab, and the heirs' side is in transferring inherited land in Punjab.
Attachment and revenue court orders have their own routes
A Qurki, or attachment order, directs that land be attached to secure a claim or judgment. The decree-holder or an authorised representative applies to the ADLR with a certified copy. The ADLR forwards it for system entry and approves it, as with a stay order.
If the attachment is vacated, the same verification and removal process applies. The remarks stay permanently visible. Revenue courts include the Assistant Commissioner, Collector, ADC Revenue, Commissioner, Additional Commissioner and Members of the Board of Revenue when acting judicially. PLRA says their orders need no execution proceedings and are implemented directly by the ADLR.
Once implemented, the updated status can be checked through PLRA's online land record system with the property details. This helps buyers too. Before you pay for any plot, ask the seller for a fresh fard and look for stay or attachment remarks, as in verifying land records before you pay.
You can complain if the order is not implemented
If your court order or decree is not being implemented, PLRA says you can file a written complaint before the District Collector or approach PLRA headquarters for redress. Keep your receipt or diary number from the ARC, so you can show the date you applied.
We could not verify a published helpline or complaint link for this step, so we have left one out. Ask the ARC for the name of the ADLR and the Collector's office address in writing.
