How to Get General Police Verification in Islamabad: Rs 1,000, 3 Working Days
General Police Verification in Islamabad for jobs, domestic staff and visas: Rs 1,000, 3 working days, documents and the online form. Check the steps first.

Short answer: Islamabad Police issue a General Police Verification for job applications, hiring domestic staff, sensitive posts and visas that need local police verification. The fee is Rs 1,000, paid in cash at the counter, and the page gives 3 working days. Bring your original CNIC or B-Form, plus a proof of address if your CNIC is not an Islamabad one.
An employer asks for "police verification" on a Monday and wants it by Friday. You open the Islamabad Police site and find three similar names: character certificate, general verification and tenant registration. They are different services with different fees.
We read the General Police Verification page on the Islamabad Capital Territory Police site, including its document list, FAQs and form fields. We did not submit an application, because the form needs a real CNIC and thumb impression.
General verification costs Rs 1,000 and takes 3 working days
The police page lists an application fee of Rs 1,000, payable in cash at the counter, and a standard processing time of 3 working days. You can start online and then visit a Police Khidmat Markaz (PKM), a police facilitation centre, or the nearest police station.
| Item | What the police page says |
|---|---|
| Fee | Rs 1,000, payable in cash at the counter |
| Processing | 3 working days |
| Used for | Jobs, domestic staff, sensitive posts, visas needing local verification |
| Apply | Online form, then Police Khidmat Markaz or police station |
| Tracking | CNIC and Application ID |

When a general verification is the right document
The page lists four uses: job applications, verification of domestic staff such as servants, maids and drivers, employment in security-sensitive positions, and visa applications that require local police verification. Check with whoever asked for it which paper they actually want.
The same site lists a character certificate as its own service. Some employers ask for that instead, and the police character certificate going online follows its own route.
Bring original CNIC or B-Form and, if needed, an affidavit
The documents are an original CNIC or B-Form (a child's registration form). If your CNIC does not show an Islamabad address, add an affidavit and a rent agreement, an official allotment letter or a hostel letter on the original letterhead.
- Open the General Police Verification page on the Islamabad Police website.
- Enter your full name, father's name, CNIC, date of birth and complete address.
- Select your police station from the list and state the purpose.
- Upload the CNIC front, CNIC back and a clear photo of your thumb impression on plain paper.
- Add the affidavit or job letter if you have one, tick the declaration and submit.
- Visit the centre with originals, pay Rs 1,000 and keep the Application ID to track it.
The form lists 27 police stations, from Aabpara to Women Police Station. Pick the one that covers the address you give.

Hiring domestic staff has two paths
For a maid or driver, you can use general verification, or register the worker as an employee. We covered that in registering a domestic worker with police in Punjab and Islamabad, where Islamabad charges Rs 500.
Verification checks the person. Registration records that you employ them. Ask which one your landlord, society or employer wants before you pay for the wrong one.
| Service on the Islamabad Police site | Who it is for |
|---|---|
| General Police Verification | Job seekers, employers, visa applicants |
| Character Certificate | Jobs, visas and international travel |
| Tenant Registration | Owners and tenants for public safety |
| Servant Registration | Employers of domestic and private staff |
| Lost Report | Anyone who lost a CNIC, licence or papers |

Where to go and what to carry
Eleven PKM centres are listed, and all of them offer character certificate and tenant registration. Cascade and F-6 are shown as 24/7. The others keep office hours, mostly 08:30 AM to 05:00 PM. We did not see a separate line for general verification in the centre table, so confirm by phone, for example on 051-9259022.
Bring originals and one photocopy of each paper. If you are renting, the tenant registration with Islamabad Police uses a similar set of papers, so you can prepare both together.
One practical tip: take photos of every page you submit, and keep the Application ID in your phone notes. If the officer needs a missing paper, you can answer quickly and the 3 working days start counting again from a complete file. Do not pay anyone outside the counter to speed it up, since the page lists a single official fee.
Common questions
How much is general police verification in Islamabad?
Rs 1,000, payable in cash at the counter, per the Islamabad Police service page.
How long does it take?
The page gives 3 working days from the date of application.
Do I need an affidavit?
Only if your CNIC does not show an Islamabad address, per the page's FAQ.
Is it the same as a character certificate?
No. The police site lists them as separate services. Ask the person who wants the document which one they need.
Can I apply for someone else?
The form uses the applicant's own CNIC, thumb impression and address, so the person being verified should be the one applying.
Does a verification from Islamabad work in Punjab?
We could not confirm that from the page. Ask the requesting office, because a Punjab employer may want a Punjab Police document.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on Sunday 11 October 2026. We read the General Police Verification page of Islamabad Capital Territory Police and its centre list. We did not submit a form. The fee and timing are as printed by the police and may change.
