JazzCash, Easypaisa or UPaisa After MNP in Pakistan: What Happens to Your Wallet When You Port Your Number (Every Wallet)
Porting your number? JazzCash and Easypaisa keep working on any network, but UPaisa closes the wallet before a Ufone port completes. What to do first, in steps.

Porting your number to another network does not close a JazzCash or Easypaisa account: both work on any network through their apps. A UPaisa wallet is different. UPaisa's terms say a request to port your Ufone number out is treated as a request to close the wallet, and the wallet is closed before the port completes. So move your UPaisa balance out first.
Mobile Number Portability, or MNP, lets you keep your number while moving from Jazz to Zong, Telenor to Ufone, and so on. Your wallet is tied to that number, so people reasonably worry that switching networks will lock their money away. We read the terms and FAQs of JazzCash, Easypaisa, UPaisa and SadaPay on 31 October 2026. Here is what happens to each wallet, what to do before you port, and what changes after.
What happens to each wallet when you port
JazzCash says you can create an account on any mobile network, and Easypaisa says its accounts work on Jazz, Ufone, Zong and Telenor with no restrictions. Both keep running after a port. UPaisa closes the wallet when its Ufone number ports out. SadaPay does not let you change the number at all.
| Wallet | After you port the number | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| JazzCash | Account stays; use the app on the new network | Install and log in to the app; note your MPIN |
| Easypaisa | Account stays; works on any network | Install and log in to the app; save the UAN helpline |
| UPaisa (Ufone number) | Wallet is closed before the port completes | Move the full balance out before you request the port |
| SadaPay | Same number, so nothing changes | Number changes are not possible after sign-up |
The UPaisa rule is the one that surprises people. Its terms say: if you are looking to port out your Ufone connection, you are advised to close your mobile account, and a port request with an open account is treated as a request to close it. Any balance left behind then has to be claimed through UPaisa.

JazzCash after porting away from Jazz: use the app
JazzCash runs on any network through its app, and its own security rules list customers on Jazz and other operators at every account level. What changes is USSD. JazzCash describes its *786# shortcuts for Jazz customers and points everyone else to the app or helpline.
JazzCash's terms also say it is not responsible for service issues on numbers that have moved by MNP. In plain words: if something breaks after the port, the network side is your new operator's job. Keep the app installed before the port goes through, so you are not stuck without access while the SIM changes.
Expect a security check when you log in on a new SIM or phone. JazzCash's terms say registering a new device triggers biometric verification and then a 2-hour block on all payments. Do not port on the day you need to pay a bill. If you forget your MPIN in the middle of this, our page on resetting a JazzCash MPIN has the steps.
Easypaisa after porting away from Telenor: change the helpline
Easypaisa's FAQ says accounts can be made on any network on any number with no restrictions, and you can log in on any phone with your credentials, though not on two phones at once. After porting from Telenor, the only practical change is the helpline: 3737 is for Telenor users only.
From your new network, call 042-111-003-737 instead. Easypaisa also sells loads and packages for all four networks, so you can keep topping up the ported number from the same app. If you are changing the number itself rather than just the network, that is a different process, covered in our page on moving Easypaisa to a new number.
UPaisa before porting away from Ufone: empty it first
UPaisa's terms say the wallet is closed before porting out completes, and any change or cancellation of the Ufone number must lead to closure. Its FAQ separately says you can change the number by calling 7777. To stay safe, empty the wallet before you start the port.
- Pay any UCash loan in full, so no balance is owed.
- Send the whole balance to your bank, JazzCash or Easypaisa account.
- Note the transaction ID for each transfer.
- Call 7777 from your Ufone number and ask whether your wallet can be moved or must be closed.
- Only then request the port from your new network.
Moving the balance to a bank is free up to Rs 25,000 a month in total, according to UPaisa's fourth quarter 2026 schedule. A bigger balance costs 0.1 per cent plus FED or Rs 200 per transfer, whichever is lower. The two UPaisa documents disagree on whether a number can move, so the call in step four matters. The porting process itself is in our page on porting your number to another network.

Keep the SIM in your own name through the switch
Every wallet ties your account to a SIM registered on your CNIC. JazzCash's terms say the number must be in your name, and UPaisa's say the wallet must be opened on the SIM owner's CNIC. Port the number that is registered to you. A wallet opened on a SIM in someone else's name breaks these rules, port or no port.
The SIM also receives your OTPs. During a port there is a short gap while the old SIM stops and the new one starts. Do not share any code that arrives in that window, and treat calls claiming to be from your wallet with suspicion. If your phone or SIM is lost at the same time, block the wallet first: JazzCash on 4444 or 111-124-444, Easypaisa on 042-111-003-737, UPaisa on 051-111-282-265.
Common questions
Will my JazzCash account work after MNP to Zong?
Yes, through the JazzCash app. JazzCash lets customers on any network open and use an account. USSD shortcuts are described for Jazz customers, so use the app after porting.
Do I lose my Easypaisa balance if I port from Telenor?
No. Easypaisa accounts work on every network, so the account and balance stay. Use 042-111-003-737 for help instead of 3737.
What happens to my UPaisa wallet if I port my Ufone number?
UPaisa's terms say the wallet is closed before the port completes. Move your balance out and clear any loan before you request the port.
Can I change my SadaPay number after porting?
Porting keeps the same number, so SadaPay is unaffected. SadaPay's help centre says changing to a different number is not possible after sign-up, though support logs requests.
Does porting change my wallet's account number or IBAN?
No. The number stays the same, and for JazzCash and Easypaisa the mobile number is the account number. Your IBAN does not depend on the network.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the JazzCash terms and conditions and its create-account page, the Easypaisa FAQ, the UPaisa terms, FAQ and fourth quarter 2026 schedule, and SadaPay's help article on number changes, on 31 October 2026. We did not port a number, so we could not test how each app behaves on the first login after a port. UPaisa's terms and FAQ disagree on number changes; ask 7777 before you act.
