K-Electric Ends Temporary Load Management in Karachi as RLNG Supply Resumes
K-Electric says RLNG supply has resumed and temporary load management in Karachi has ended, but scheduled load shedding continues in some areas. Check yours.

K-Electric (KE) said on 14 October 2026 that RLNG supply has resumed, generation at its BQPS-III power plant has stabilised, and its temporary load management in Karachi has ended. Scheduled load shedding continues only in areas with high theft and low bill recovery, and KE says that schedule is on its website.
If your lights went off at odd hours in recent days, this statement is KE's explanation and its all-clear. We opened KE's news page on 15 October 2026 and read the release in full. It is short, and it leaves out the dates and the megawatt figures. This report sets out what KE said, what it did not say, and what you can still check yourself.
KE says RLNG supply is back and temporary load management has ended
KE's spokesperson said RLNG supply resumed, BQPS-III generation stabilised, and the company therefore ended its temporary load management. KE thanked PLL, the gas supplier it names, the relevant authorities and customers for their patience.
RLNG means re-gasified liquefied natural gas. It is imported gas that is turned back from liquid into gas before it goes to a power plant. BQPS-III is the Bin Qasim Power Station III, a gas-fired plant that feeds KE's grid. When its fuel is interrupted, KE has less power to send out, and it cuts supply to some feeders to balance the system.
That is the usual chain of events. KE's release links the load management to the RLNG interruption and the plant's output. It does not say how many hours the interruption lasted or how many megawatts were lost.
| Item | What KE's 14 October release says |
|---|---|
| RLNG supply | Resumed |
| BQPS-III generation | Stabilised |
| Temporary load management | Ended |
| Scheduled load shedding | Continues in high theft, low recovery areas |
| Dates, megawatts, affected areas | Not given |

Scheduled load shedding has not ended for every area
KE separates two things. Temporary load management was an emergency measure tied to the fuel problem, and it is over. Scheduled load shedding is the regular programme in areas where KE says theft is high and recovery is low, and that programme goes on.
So your own street may or may not see a change. A feeder that was cut only because of the fuel problem should return to normal. A feeder in a scheduled area will keep its timetable. KE says the current schedule is on its website, so check it before you assume a cut is a fault.
The K-Electric load shedding schedule check shows where to find your feeder. KE also keeps a Load-Shed and Maintenance Schedule page on ke.com.pk, listed under its customer services menu.
- Open the Load-Shed and Maintenance Schedule page on ke.com.pk.
- Find your area or feeder name, as printed on your KE bill.
- Note the listed hours for your area.
- If your power goes off outside those hours, write down the time.
- Report it to KE and keep the complaint number.

What KE did not say in the release
KE gave no date for when RLNG supply stopped or when it came back. It gave no figure for the shortfall, no count of affected feeders and no list of areas. A reader cannot tell from the release how long the emergency lasted.
That matters because rules apply to cuts. NEPRA, the power regulator, ordered KE on 31 August 2026 to stop unannounced and excessive load shedding in Karachi. We covered that order in NEPRA's order on unannounced load shedding in Karachi. The order is on NEPRA's own decisions page.
NEPRA's distribution performance rules, notified on 25 August 2026, also set notice periods for planned cuts. The NEPRA service deadlines page lists them. If KE cut your supply without notice during the fuel problem, you may have grounds to complain, and the release does not change that.
The wider picture is a shortfall that has eased for now
KE's statement concerns Karachi only. Elsewhere in Pakistan, the national power shortfall has been a live issue this month, and the Karachi problem sits inside it. A single release does not show that the pressure on gas supply has gone for good.
We reported on the national position in Pakistan's power shortfall and load shedding in October 2026. If RLNG supply were interrupted again, KE could use the same measures again. KE's wording, "temporary load management has ended", describes today and not the next month.
For households the practical point is simple. Keep the KE helpline and your complaint record handy, and treat the schedule on the KE website as the one to trust.
How to report a cut that does not match the schedule
Call KE on 118, or on 92-21-3263 7133 or 92-21-3870 9132. You can also write to customer.care@ke.com.pk. KE lists these on its own pages. Give your consumer number, address and the time the supply went off.
Ask for a complaint number every time. If KE does not fix the fault or explain it, the K-Electric complaint route through 118 and NEPRA shows the next step. NEPRA's own figures for January to September 2026 show 17,459 complaints received and 14,331 redressed, so the system does move, and a written record helps.

Common questions
Has load shedding ended in Karachi?
No. KE says only the temporary load management has ended. Scheduled load shedding continues in areas with high theft and low recovery, and the schedule is on KE's website.
What is RLNG?
RLNG is imported liquefied natural gas that has been turned back into gas. KE's BQPS-III plant uses it as fuel, so a supply break cuts the power KE can generate.
When did RLNG supply stop and restart?
KE's release does not say. It gives no dates, so we cannot state them. We will update this report if KE or the regulator publishes them.
How do I check my area's schedule?
Open the Load-Shed and Maintenance Schedule page on ke.com.pk and find your area. Match the feeder name to the one on your bill.
Who do I call about an unscheduled cut?
Call KE on 118 or 92-21-3263 7133, and ask for a complaint number. If KE does not resolve it, you can take it to NEPRA.
Can I claim anything for cuts without notice?
NEPRA's rules cover notice and compensation in some cases, but a claim depends on the facts. Keep your complaint numbers and times, and read NEPRA's standards before you file.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 15 October 2026. We read the K-Electric spokesperson release dated 14 October 2026 on ke.com.pk, and the KE contact details on the same site. We read NEPRA's decisions page on nepra.org.pk for the 31 August 2026 order and the 25 August 2026 regulations, and its complaint figures for 1 January to 30 September 2026. KE's release gives no dates or figures for the interruption, and we have not added any. Check KE's load shed schedule page for current timings.
